Also what Murphy says is, I believe, origami “components” not katana. And he goes on to say that it’s all hung by other “structural components.” Re: the origami model itself, it looks to be one piece that’s folded into that shape. I’ve folded something similar but don’t know whose model it is right off the bat but maybe Montroll or the ‘German artist whose name I don’t recall now but he and his wife had visited NYC convention many years ago’. I’m going to look for his name... I wouldn’t be surprised if the letters had been printed on A4 size paper since A4 has geometric qualities that American letter paper does not. I loved the car from R side becoming logo from front... that was swt!!! Happy folding :) Vishakha

Could be the Ornament by Sam Cuilla. An easy model to fold and blow up, very similar to the waterbomb.

The "bumps" have triangular bases, which rules out anything dodecahedral (pentagonal faces/bases of the "bumps") and there just aren't enough faces for an icosahedron. On the Lexus enthusiast page that Peter found: https://lexusenthusiast.com/2018/03/08/lexus-celebrates-owners-with-new-commercial/ in addition to the advertisement itself, there's a behind-the-scenes video that talks about the origami, but sadly never gives a particular designer credit for the origami piece itself. Of which, according to the video, there are 2000 in the hanging arrangement! Hi Dee, For the one-piece stellated octahedron model, try page 34 of the 1998 Annual Collection. It’s by Kim Best. All the best, Mark Mark Burger Founder and Executive Director East Denver Origami Society On Mar 18, 2018, at 10:20 AM, FOLD wrote:

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think that is a dodecahedron. It may be an icosahedron. The model could be the stellated icosahedron shown on this page: https://www.origami-resource-center.com/polyhedra-origami.html If I recall correctly, Gay Merrill Gross also has a single sheet icosahedron which you can see on the front cover of this book: https://www.amazon.com/Art-Origami-Gay-Merrill-Gross/dp/0792458419/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521397112&sr=8-1&keywords=the+art+of+origami+merrill This particular model is fun because it is a "trick" icosahedron. It is imbalanced so it can be made to appear as if it rolls erratically by itself. Diana -- http://www.origami-resource-center.com/ http://make-origami.com --

> > > with video: > > https://lexusenthusiast.com/2018/03/08/lexus-celebrates-owners-with-new-commercial/ Thanks for passing this! I couldn't find it from the original posting. I searched "Lexus ad folding paper" and found a couple of others including one of Mark Bolitho folding a cat head in 90 seconds ... Something that apparently Lexus craftsmen are required to do before receiving a particular certification. By the way - does anyone know the model used on the commercial? Either one actually, but particularly the dodecahedron? Dee > >
