[osint] Troops Veterans Aren't Paying Their Fair Share? Obama is bald-faced Liar

2011-09-20 Thread Beowulf
So, when Obama and Panetta, look the Troops in the eyes, and say We can't
break faith with those fighting Our contingency operations, that's
called a poker face. When they say they will fight to preserve the DoD
Budget, now that they've already cut it by $500 Billion? That's a
bald-faced lie.

Troops Veterans Aren't Paying Their Fair Share?

http://waronterrornews.typepad.com/.a/6a00e551d9d3fd88330154358fa1ec970c-po
pup Obama-BuffettWell, the POTUS has declared that he has a plan to reduce
the deficit by $1Trillion to $4 Trillion over the next 10 years, depending
on what part of his marketing you're reading. He has said that it's time
for all of us to pay our fair share, and pointed to the words of one of
his biggest contributors: Warren Buffett. Buffett is an astute investor who
was able to put together a few million in campaign donations for Obama (and
for Hillary) in 2008, ensuring they backed TARP which netted Buffett a few
billion more in net worth.

Buffett has campaigned for higher taxes on the rich, for as long as he's
been an Obama supporter. To hear the spin, Buffett is paying less in taxes
than his secretary, but Buffett doesn't say that being rich, he doesn't need
(and likely doesn't take much of) an income. He doesn't say how much he
pays his secretary, but evidently, this translates into needing to raise
taxes on those that make $250k/year, as opposed to the tens of billions that
Buffett has in wealth. At any rate, the reported increase in taxes on the
small segment of America would supposedly increase tax revenue by $35
Billion, less than the worth of Warren Buffett, and a small part of the
total claimed deficit reduction. At best, it's a token (1% to 3.5% of the
claimed savings) and a slogan, to politicians, but a helluva cut in takehome
pay for the people that employee others.

So, who are these miscreants that aren't paying their fair share? The ones
that will pay to balance the budget deficit? Well, Military Retirees are
evidently a big part of those not paying their fair share. While the POTUS
and his SecDef talk out of both sides of their mouths, the POTUS plans to
slash military retirement pay and benefits. Evidently, Twenty years of
risking life and limb, of sacrificing comfort, and time with family, is
insufficient to earn a full retirement. He wants an independent
commission to rubber stamp his idea of cutting up to 44 years of retirement
pay($21 Billion). And he wants those that do retire to pay for it
themselves, with a 401k plan, instead of a retirement plan.

And those health benefits, earned by wounds, injuries, and constantly
beating up their bodies? To get those, the military retirees should pay
$200 more
http://www.stripes.com/obama-deficit-plan-would-re-examine-military-retirem
ent-1.18 in the first year (and increasing every year) to get those
treated. That's $7 Billion more Obama sees in new taxes, er, savings. He
also wants to increase, again, the amount Combat Veterans pay for their
prescriptions to get another $20.6 Billion out of our Veterans. It seems
our Veterans will pay more than the evil rich people that sign our checks.

And the $500 Billion he's already asked to be cut from the Department of
Defense? Oh, that's only part of what he thinks should be cut. He wants to
cut another $260 Billion cut and claims another $1 Trillion will be saved by
retreating from Iraq and Afghanistan. Nevermind that he's already planned
to retreat from both, and already claimed those savings from doing so.
Nevermind that we're talking about a 10 year plan in a city where only the
budget for next year is sometimes approved.

He also wants to cut Medicare ($248 Billion) and Medicaid (and TriCare for
Troops and Veterans). These are likely as much smoke and mirrors as the
rest, but he claims his plan will cut $320 Billion over 10 years, beginning
in 2017, when someone else would take the blame, if it ever got passed by
the 2017 Congress, and it won't. Oh, yeah, he'll veto it, if he doesn't get
to tax the rich, but the 2017 budget won't be passed until at least 2016, so
this isn't going to happen.

So, evidently, the biggest portion of people that Obama thinks are not
paying their fair share are the Troops, Veterans, the Elderly,
Farmers($2Billion), and the poor. Those are the people from whom he expects
to extract 96+% of his budget savings ($965 Billion to $3.65 Trillion), not
those evil rich people like Warren Buffett and the guy that signs your
paycheck($35 Billion).

And, yeah, a portion of that money he's claiming is based on his speculation
that the economy will grow over the next 10 years, increasing the taxes we
all pay. Supposedly, the way that will happen is that by increasing our
debt, we'll get more tax revenue. We all saw the signs for that in 2009.
He told us then that if we didn't spend twice as much as he wants to charge
us now, unemployment would be 8+%. When he got his

Will any of the lawmakers, journalists, labor leaders and other activists in
att endance at Fighting Bob Fest repudiate the notion, made by a speaker
there, that protesters should escalate their harassment from beer to urine?

Don't hold your breath.

[Madison, Wisc.] Thousands of liberal political activists, gathered here
Saturday for an annual conference, cheered and laughed as a speaker
recounted the recent assault of a GOP lawmaker. The crowd attending the
Fighting Bob Fest also rejoiced at the suggestion that protesters, instead
of dumping beer over the heads of Republicans, should urinate on them.

This is Wisconsin, this is the place where you had some guy pour a beer on
the head of a Republican State Senato r? said Fest speaker Greg Palast as
the crowd erupted with cheers. No, no, no, that's all wrong. You can't do
that. That's just wrong. I'm from New York. If you're going to pour beer on
a Republican, you have to drink it first.

The crowd can then be heard breaking out in loud and sustained cheers and
laughter.

Madison Police on Friday cited Miles Kristan, commonly referred to as 'Pink
Dress Guy' with disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred Wednesday
evening. According to police reports, Kristan dumped a beer over State
Representative Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and two of his colleagues GOP Reps
Scott Suder (Abbotsford) and John Nygren (Marinette) at the Inn on the Park
hotel bar and restaurant.

The incident has brought to a head concerns by conservatives in Madison that
law enforcement there have not taken threats to public safety seriously.
Many on the Left, however, have openly mocked the incident as humorous and
minimal, although most of this has come in the form of facebook and twitter
postings and none in such a public fashion as Palast, an author and
freelance journalist, brazenly did on Saturday. Read more

[osint] International community legitimizes Palestinian terror if it recognizes a Palestinian state

2011-09-20 Thread Beowulf
Palestinian Authority:

International community

legitimizes Palestinian terror

if it recognizes a Palestinian state

http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157
http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157doc_id=5679 doc_id=5679

Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

The Palestinian Authority Minister of Prisoners' Affairs says that the PA will
interpret international recognition of a Palestinian state as international
legitimization of Palestinian prisoners' acts of violence for which they are
imprisoned.

Minister Issa Karake:

The recognition of the state means recognition of the legitimacy of the
Palestinian struggle that the Palestinian nation fought, in the search for
freedom and independence. In addition, it [recognition of a state] indicates
that the struggles of the prisoners are legitimized and legal according to UN
Resolutions...

The PA has claimed for many years that all its terror, including murder of
civilians by suicide bombings, is justified by UN resolution 3236 which
recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all
means in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the
United Nations.

According to this PA justification of terror, all Palestinian prisoners
responsible for killing Israeli civilians are turned into role models by the PA
http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=448 . This PA ideology makes heroes
http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157doc_id=5626 out of terrorists like
Ahlam Tamimi http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157doc_id=4813 , serving 16
life sentences for assisting a suicide bomber who killed 7 children and 8
adults; Anas Jaradat, who headed the Islamic Jihad in Jenin and was responsible
for 3 car bombings in Israel, causing the death of dozens; and Salim Hajja,
serving 16 life sentences for involvement in three suicide bombings, killing
more than 51 and wounding hundreds. Palestinian Media Watch
http://palwatch.org/ has documented that these terrorists were honored by
the PA in the last month (see also PMW report From Terrorist to Role Model
http://palwatch.org/STORAGE/special%20reports/PA%20honors%20terrorists%20Final%20Eng.pdf
 ).

Now, PA Minister Karake says that international recognition of a Palestinian
state will be interpreted by the PA as international support for the PA
position that killing Israelis is a Palestinian right.

The following is the statement by Issa Karake, PA Minister of Prisoners'
Affairs:

[PA Minister of Prisoners' Affairs, Issa] Karake while visiting prisoners'
families at Qalandiya refugee camp... explained that the international
recognition of the Palestinian State changes all the imprisoned Palestinians
into prisoners of a state, prisoners of war held hostage in another state... He
noted that the recognition of the state means recognition of the legitimacy of
the Palestinian struggle that the Palestinian nation fought, in the search for
freedom and independence. In addition, it [recognition of a state] indicates
that the struggles (Arabic- Nidalat) of the prisoners are legitimized and legal
according to UN Resolutions, international laws and the third and fourth Geneva
Conventions.

[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 8, 2011]

The Palestinian Authority uses the word nidal - literally 'struggle' - as a
general term that includes all acts against Israel - including violence against
civilians.

PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN
resolution 3236 which recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain
its rights by all means. The PA interprets all means as including violence
against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution
which states that the use of all means should be in accordance with the
purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations... The UN Charter
prohibits targeting civilians, even in war. Chapter 1, Article 1, opens by
saying that the international disputes should be resolved by peaceful
means. The following are some examples:

Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee, does not believe that a
Palestinian-Israeli agreement will be achieved in the shadow of the extreme
right-wing [Israeli] government, but he leaves the door open to a 'return to
[UN] Resolution 181 and to all forms of the struggle, including the armed
struggle, if the negotiations fail... In addition, [there will be] a return to
UN Resolution 3236, which grants the Palestinian people the right to all forms
of the struggle, including the armed struggle...' He called for 'a gathering
that will bring together the Fatah and Hamas leadership, under Mahmoud Abbas'
... and added: 'We are in favor of anyone who defends the homeland and bears
arms in order to defend it, because he supports the idea of Fatah and of the
resistance.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Palestinian President
http://www.upi.com/topic/Mahmoud_Abbas/ Mahmoud Abbas said he's not
opposed to giving negotiations with Israel another try but questioned the
basis for such talks.

Palestinian authorities are expected to push for a unilateral statehood
initiative at the United Nations this week. Washington promised to veto the
measure if it moves before the U.N. Security Council, saying any independent
action from the Palestinians undermined ongoing peace efforts with Israel.

Abbas, in an interview with London's pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat, said he
wasn't adamantly opposed to negotiations.

I am not against a return to the negotiating table but on what basis? he
asked.

The so-called Middle East Quartet of the United States, Russia, European
Union and United Nations met Monday night in an attempt to construct a
formula to restart peace talks and stave off a Security Council showdown,
diplomats said.

U.S. Republican lawmakers on a House appropriations committee threatened
Palestinian aid should Abbas continue with his statehood initiative at the
United Nations.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu offered to meet with Abbas at U.N.
headquarters this week and restart negotiations. Netanyahu in August said
that Israel would be willing to resume peace talks based on its 1967 prewar
borders if the Palestinians abandoned state recognition efforts and
recognized Israel as a Jewish state.

Police and security officials believe they have smashed a plot by home-grown
terrorists to kill hundreds in an Al Qaeda-inspired attack on Britain.

One of 14 homes raided by officers yesterday belongs to a convicted
terrorist involved in a conspiracy to capture and behead a British soldier.

Acting on intelligence from MI5, counter-terrorism police in Birmingham
arrested six men and a woman, who were all born in Britain and hold UK
passports.

They are suspected of being in the latter stages of planning an atrocity,
though a precise target had yet to be chosen. Police say they swooped to
protect public safety.

Whitehall sources say it is the biggest plot to have been disrupted by the
security services this year. It comes only three months after officials
downgraded the threat to the UK from severe to substantial.

Fourteen Birmingham addresses, including one business, were being searched
yesterday.

They included a terraced property owned by Mohammed Irfan, 34, and Mohammed
Rizwan, who preach at a mosque. Forensics officers were also seen yesterday
searching a neighbouring home in the city’s deprived Ward End district.

Irfan was jailed for four years in February 2008 after admitting being part
of plot to behead a Muslim soldier as warning to other Muslims about joining
the British Army. He was released on licence in October 2009.

Those under arrest were said by neighbours to include a nursery nurse and
two brothers. One of the addresses was an imposing five-bedroom detached
home occupied by a taxi driver and his five sons. A neighbour said two of
the sons had been seen firing an air rifle at a target in the garden on
Sunday.

The arrests were carried out across the largely Asian inner-city
neighbourhoods of Alum Rock, Sparkbrook, Ward End and Moseley, a suburb
popular with students and young professionals.

Although the terror suspects were home-grown, sources said the plot had an
‘international dimension’.

West Midlands Police said six men – aged between 25 and 32 – were arrested
overnight on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of an
act of terrorism in the UK following a joint investigation by both police
and MI5.

A 22-year-old-woman, named by neighbours as nursery nurse Salma Kabal, from
Alum Rock, was said to have been arrested at 7am on suspicion of failing to
disclose information contrary to the Terrorism Act 2000.

Neighbours in the terraced street yesterday said Kabal comes from a
‘moderate’ Pakistani family and is the eldest of five children.

Her mother is said to work as a school dinner lady, while her father is a
former council worker.

She married two years ago but was said to have divorced her husband six
months ago. One neighbour said: ‘He moved in with her and wore a long
Islamic beard.

‘He didn’t seem to work, but was more extremist than his wife. I understand
they split up because he wanted to take her to live in a madrassa in Karachi
in Pakistan.’ The husband was believed to be Ashiq Ali, who was arrested
with his brother Bahader, 28,

Without any trace of irony, the White House's new 10-year deficit-reduction
plan is titled Living Within Our Means and Investing in the Future. It
achieves neither of these objectives, but you would never know that by
looking at the deceptively rosy future it promises.

President Obama's agenda continues the conceit of long-term Washington
budget projections that bear no relation to reality. It overstates the
administration's ability to predict and influence events. The use of smoke
and mirrors is a necessary political trick because highlighting massive
purported savings, particularly in the out years, enables Mr. Obama to
claim credit for trillions in deficit reduction that are supposed to appear
long after he is off th e political stage. He reckons to cut deficits by
$3 trillion in 10 years - but so long as we're pulling numbers out of a hat,
why not $6 trillion in 20 years or $30 trillion in 100 years? Ten-year
economic scenarios are the height of egotism; even Soviet dictator Josef
Stalin was content with overseeing five-year plans.

The base-line economic assumptions in Mr. Obama's plan are as fantastic as
any that have emerged from this White House. As with past projections,
unemployment levels are too low, growth projections are too high, and
deficit numbers are astronomically more optimistic than realistic. The
fiscal 2010 budget projected the deficit would be $581 billion in 2012. The
fiscal 2012 budget projected a federal deficit of almost double that. The
proposal introduced Monday bumps that figure up to more than $1.3 trillion.
The a ctual deficit will be even higher.

The projections are always off because the Obama team clings to highly
unrealistic economic-growth assumptions. The latest deficit proposal says
that during the previous six quarters, real gross domestic product (GDP)
had grown at an average rate of 3 percent, implying that this is a robust
trend that is likely to continue. Mr. Obama's first budget projected that
this year's economic growth would be more than 5 percent, but second-quarter
GDP growth in 2011 was only 1 percent, and growth almost ground to a halt in
the first quarter at 0.4 percent. Rather than a push for greater spending,
these facts should prompt renewed soberness and caution for economic
crystal-ball gazers at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The assumptions in Mr. Obama's plan double down on already-bankrupt hopes.
For Mr. Obama's deficit numbers to make sense (using the plan as applied to
the Office of Management and Budget midsession review base line) the economy
is expected to grow at a rate of almost 5 percent in 2012, almost 8 percent
in 2014 and 8.5 percent in 2016. If Mr. Obama could deliver that kind of
growth, he wouldn't now be trying to explain away 9 percent unemployment and
approval ratings in the low 40s. These baloney growth assumptions illustrate
why politicians love to talk about the wonderful, magical, faraway out
years. Too bad we live in the troubling times delivered by the fierce

Turkey to freeze EU ties if Cyprus gets EU presidency

EU-candidate Turkey will freeze relations with the European Union if Cyprus
is given the EU presidency in 2012, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay was
quoted as saying by state-run news agency Anatolian late on Saturday.

The comments were the strongest yet by Ankara over its opposition to the
Cyprus presidency and could mark the s tart of a new low point in ties
between the European Union and Turkey which began accession talks to the
bloc in 2005.

The comments also come at a time of heightened tension in the eastern
Mediterranean where Turkey is locked in a row with Cyprus over potential
offshore gas deposits. Turkey's relations with one-time ally Israel are also
at a low.

If the peace negotiations there (Cyprus) are not conclusive, and the EU
gives its rotating presidency to southern Cyprus, the real crisis will be
between Turkey and the EU, Anatolian quoted Atalay as telling Turkish
Cypriot Bayrak Radio and TV at the end of a trip to northern Cyprus.

Because we will then freeze our relations with the EU. We have made this
announcement, as a government we have made this decision. Our relations with
the EU will come to a sudden halt.

The internationally-recognized Greek Cypriot government is due to take on
the six-month rotating EU presidency in July 2012.

Cyprus has been divided since a Turkish invasion in 1974 triggered by a
brief Greek-inspired coup. UN-sponsored peace talks between Turkish Cypriots
and Greek Cypriots have stumbled since they were relaunched in 2008.

In July, Turkey's European Union minister said freezing ties with the Greek
Cypriot EU presidency was an option but Atalay's comments were the first
time Ankara has said it would definitely halt relations.

Greek Cypriots represent the island internationally and in the European
Union, while Turkey is the only country to recognise the Turkish Cypriot
state. Greek Cypriots say Turkey cannot join the bloc until the Cyprus
conflict is resolved.

The rotating presidency has lost some importance since the EU's Lisbon
treaty, which established a permanent head of the European Council that
groups national governments, and a new foreign and security policy chief.
But a determined country can still shape the agenda.

Of the 35 chapters -- policy areas of EU law -- Turkey has completed one,
and 18 have been frozen because of opposition by EU member states including
Cyprus and France.

Iranian Ambassador: UN Vote a Step Towards Wiping Out Israel

Western diplomatic efforts aimed at heading off a United Nations resolution
on Palestinian statehood appear to be making little or no progress. The
United States and other allies are trying to find a way to push Palestinians
back into direct peace talks with Israel, but those efforts have been
rejected.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
http://www.jpost.com/VideoArticles/Video/Article.aspx?id=238567 complained
that all hell has broken out against us over the UN effort, but that there
was http://online.wsj.com/article/AP6de8fd8a25b542e1a376d188ae644a0b.html
no turning back from the present course.

That course, Iran's ambassador to Egypt said in a weekend interview, was
merely one stage in a broader effort. The push for full membership as a UN
member state is a step towards wiping out Israel, said Ambassador Mojtaba
Amani
http://www.alwatanalarabi.com/arabi/Sub_Details.asp?Sub_id=8436Section_ID=
1 in an interview with Al-Watan al-Arabi. But the Palestinians must that
follow a correct example and complete all the measures to prevent the
Zionist Entity from depriving them their rights.

Abbas reportedly
http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/abbas-rejects-netanyahu-compr
omises-ahead-of-palestinian-statehood-bid-1.385226 rejected offers of
concessions from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, including
compromises on language describing the borders of a future state and
describing Israel as a home for the Jewish people.

From now until I give the speech, we have only one choice: going to the
Security Council. Afterwards, we will sit and decide,
http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wamc/news.newsmain/article/0/0/1854086/Wo
rld.News/Abbas.presses.Palestinian.U.N..bid.despite.warnings he said.

The United States has promised to veto any Palestinian request for full
inclusion as a member state before the council. But the PA likely would
secure an upgrade of its current status as an observer if it turned to the
full UN General Assembly. Western diplomats say that will lead only to
disappointment for Palestinians and not get them any closer to actual
statehood.

And there are risks for the Palestinians if they refuse to alter their
course. If Congress follows through on threats to cut off American aid to
the Palestinian Authority, the risk of PA collapse is very real, PA
central bank chief Jihad al-Wazir told Reuters.

[osint] CAN MUSLIMS CAN NOT BE Good American/Good Canadians?

2011-09-20 Thread Beowulf
Subject: CAN MUSLIMS CAN NOT BE Good American/Good Canadians?

This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to finish.
And send it on to everyone.
Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about
any atrocities.

Can a good Muslim be a good American or Canadian? This question was
forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following
is his reply:

Theologically - no. .. . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon
god of Arabia ..

Religiously - no.. . .. Because no other religion is accepted by His
Allah except Islam ... (Quran, 2:256) (Koran)

Scripturally - no. .. .. Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars
of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically - no .. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he
turns in prayer five times a day..

Socially - no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make
friends with Christians or Jews ...

Politically - no... Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual
leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the
great Satan.

Domestically - no. .. . Because he is instructed to marry four Women
and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34 )

Intellectually - no... Because he cannot accept the American
Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles
and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does
not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot
co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no... Because when we declare 'one nation under God,' The
Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as
Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberationwe should be very suspicious
of ALL MUSLIMS in this country.

They obviously cannot be both 'good' Muslims and good Americans/Canadians.
Call it what you wish it's still the truth. You had better believe it. The
more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.

The religious war is bigger than we know or understand. ..

Footnote: The Muslims have said they will destroy us from within. SO FREEDOM
IS NOT FREE.

THE Armed Forces WANT THIS TO ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S. CANADA.

Please don't delete this until you send it on.

[osint] Obama is Destroying Western Interests in the Middle East, Helping Destabilize the Region, and Putting Millions of Lives in Jeopardy

Middle East, Helping Destabilize the Region, and Putting Millions of Lives
in Jeopardy

Sep 19, 2011 08:51 pm

By Barry Rubin

Think of how outrageous my headline is:

Destroying Western Interests in the Middle East, Helping Destabilize the
Region, and Putting Millions of Lives in Jeopardy

Do you think that's extremist, crazy, can't be true because you're not
seeing that stuff in the New York Times? You must be a right-wing
Republican, you say?

No, just a serious Middle East analyst.

The tenth anniversary of September 11, almost three years after Obama's
election, is a suitable time to confront this issue honestly and fully. So
consider fairly and honestly the list of points below.

Egypt: Obama supported a revolution overthrowing a U.S. ally - rather than a
smooth transition replacing the dictator and instituting some reform without
dropping the entire regime - disregarding State Department advice and not
even consulting with Jordan, Israel, or Saudi Arabia! He also unilaterally
announced his readiness to see the Muslim Brotherhood in power. His analysts
denied that the Brotherhood is a radical, anti-American Islamist
organization that supports terrorism. The resulting dangerous crisis,
including Egypt becoming a new type of Iran, is now clear to all.

Israel-Palestinian Peace Process: By distancing himself from Israel,
removing all pressure from the Palestinians, unilaterally proposing a freeze
of Israeli construction on settlements, and repeatedly messing up the effort
to restart negotiations, Obama made the peace process situation worse. His
failure to handle properly the Palestinian UN unilateral independence bid
has put U.S. policy in a terrible mess, with an American veto leading to
large-scale anti-Americanism and probable violence both by Palestinians
against Israel and by Muslims against the United States.

Israel: The damage the Obama Administration did to Israel was not in
bilateral relations or even in the peace process but by its role in the
deterioration of the regional situation to a dangerous extent. As a result,
the two most powerful regional powers that had decent relations with Israel
- Egypt and Turkey - turned around 180 degrees; Hamas rule was entrenched in
the Gaza Strip; Hizballah's rule in Lebanon. That's four of Israel's
neighbors that became effectively hostile while the Obama Administration
didn't even notice. As the level of threat rose, U.S. political-diplomatic
support for Israel declined.

Turkey: As Turkey continued to move toward being a repressive Islamist state
allied with revolutionary Islamism, the U.S. government didn't notice.
Farcically, it promoted the Turkish model and made Turkey its mediator
over Syria's future!

Lebanon: As Lebanon fell under Syria-Iran-Hizballah control, the Obama
Administration did nothing. It failed to support the moderates and so they
surrendered.

Syria: The Administration pursued the factually ridiculous effort to pull
Syria away from Iran and engaged it even as Damascus escalated its support
for terrorism, aggression toward Lebanon, killing Americans in Iraq, and
then repressing its own people.

Gaza: The Administration gave Hamas indirect aid, made no serious effort to
overthrow a radical, anti-American, genocidal-oriented regime, and pressed
Israel to reduce sanctions to a minimum. This ensured the survival and
strengthening of a pro-terrorist revolutionary Islamist state on the
Mediterranean.

Saudi Arabia: Repeated slaps in the face and failure to confront advances by
revolutionary Islamists - especially Iran and Syria, as well as abandonment
of Mubarak - disgusted this ally. Seeing U.S. weakness, it concluded it has
to take care of itself

Iran: After wasting a long time in engagement, the administration finally
(at the slowest possible speed) did push sanctions. Yet it still has no
strategy for opposing Iran's non-nuclear methods of subverting neighbors and
expanding its influence.

Danger: Obama failed to realize it or to define properly friends and
enemies.

Leadership: Despite being begged by different allies, the Obama
Administration failed to demonstrate leadership.

Empowering Islamism: In his Cairo speech and thereafter, Obama emphasized
the Muslim identity of Middle Easterners thus undermining Arab identity and
nationalism.

Endangering the lives of American soldiers and civilians: By refusing to
allow a proper analysis of Islamism and terrorism. Consider, for example,
the Fort Hood attack in which Americans were killed because military
officers feared to do their job lest it hurt their promotions.

Libya: Obama entered a war without any strategy for what would happen after
Qadhafi fell or any knowledge of who he was helping to promote as the new
leadership.

Rejection of basic diplomatic principles: Supporting friends and punishing
enemies;

[osint] Why gold is so high and Obama so low

Why gold is so high and Obama so low

Published: Sept. 20, 2011 at 6:18 AM
By PETER MORICI

COLLEGE PARK, Md., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Since U.S. President Barack Obama took
office, the price of gold has more than doubled to about $1,800 an ounce and
public approval of his handling of the economy has more than halved. These
are much connected events.

During the 1980s and 1990s, thanks to new technologies and market
deregulation by Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and
Bill Clinton, the U.S. economy enjoyed a renaissance -- falling inflation,
stable growth, low unemployment, and decent returns on stocks and bonds.

Sound as a dollar took new meaning as central banks around the world sold
off gold holdings and increasingly backed their currencies with greenbacks.
The dominance of the dollar, in part, inspired Europeans to create a rival
currency -- the euro.

Holding gold makes less sense when the U.S. economy is doing well and
confidence in the rule of law ensures that investors will get solid returns
on portfolio investments. After all, gold is costly to hold and it pays no
dividends or interest.

In 2000, the U.S. federal budget surplus was $236 billion, the Standard and
Poor's 500 index hit its inflation-adjusted peak at 1,520 and gold sold for
$280 an ounce.

Since, King Dollar has been shattered by Presidents George W. Bush and
Barack Obama. Thanks to big deficits, the world is awash in dollars and
Treasury securities, which function much the same as cash in international
finance and commerce. The U.S. economy -- overwhelmed by subsidized imports
from China, bleeding to pay for expensive foreign oil and hamstrung by
intrusive and often counterproductive new government regulations -- can't
grow.

By 2007, the year before the financial crisis and Democrats took control of
Congress, George W. Bush's free spending on agricultural subsidies, military
adventures, prescription coverage for seniors and tax cuts turned Clinton's
surplus into a $161 billion deficit.

GALLERY: President Obama lays out new tax plan
http://www.upi.com/News_Photos/News/President-Obama-lays-out-new-tax-plan/5
671/?sg

Enter Nancy Pelosi and then Obama and government spending exploded from less
than 20 percent of gross domestic product to nearly 26 percent. Increases in
the regulatory bureaucracy and government pay, new Medicaid and Medicare
entitlements, and crony spending on fraudulent solar energy schemes,
bailouts for Chrysler and GM and similar follies push up federal spending by
$1.1 trillion in four years. Inflation would have required only $200
billion.

Meanwhile, after nearly two years of economic recovery, real GDP is stuck at
2007 levels, family incomes are falling and the ranks of the unemployed and
poor swell every month.

The president doesn't grasp the magnitude of the structural problems holding
down real growth. He refuses to develop domestic oil and natural gas and
genuinely confront Chinese mercantilism. He refuses to address business
concerns about over-regulation and a generally hostile environment to
private enterprise.

In the name of lowering costs, ObamaCare mandates the scope of coverage
businesses must offer employees but insurance premiums, drug prices and
co-pays are rising at an alarming pace. Obama simply ignores this failure.

In the Chrysler bankruptcy, the administration managed to pressure a federal
judge to subvert 100 years of bankruptcy law to award company assets, which
should have been distributed to creditors, to the UAW and an Italian
automaker.

In yet another payment to organized labor for campaign support, the National
Labor Relations Board -- stuffed with recess appointments -- sued Boeing for
opening a factory in South Carolina. Now, the president will decide which
states are permitted new manufacturing jobs.

He can't persuade Congress to put a limit on carbon dioxide emissions so he
proposes to curb those by administrative fiat. He punishes the entire oil
industry for the sins of one rogue company.

Overreach is so intrusive that it borders on expropriation.

U.S. companies are investing in China for good reason. Beijing likes
capitalism and aspires to global leadership, things Obama appears to
distain. And for all their complaints about intellectual property
enforcement in China, U.S. investors may enjoy greater security under the
law in the Middle Kingdom than in the Middle West.

Over the next several years, GDP growth will likely be no more than 2
percent, perhaps less, and given the paltry targets set for the
congressional supercommittee on budget deficits, the federal spending gap
will likely exceed $1 trillion for many more years and Social Security
likely will be broke within two decades.

All that money and U.S. bonds, which function much like money, will
eventually drive up inflation. With bonds paying little interest
