Dear Gentza, Thank you! I would love to come to Bilbao and celebrate life and
opneing spaces.I think end of September will be a good time. June sounds too
soon, October brings the risk of Covid constraints. So good to hear you have
time to organise this and show us your beloved Bilbao.Wish you Merry Christmas

inviting Wosonos 2022 from Bilbao (Basque Country), as it seems that Berlin
won't be able at last to do so. I hope my English is good enough to have well

lots of OS people around. I've spoken a bit about the idea and it seems we

[OSList] A phenomenal new book by one of our own: Initiating and Inviting Generative Change

2021-12-16 Thread Peggy Holman via OSList
Hi my OS list friends,

I want to “out” Tova Averbuch, who has given us all a gift. She recently
published the brilliant Initiating and Inviting Generative Change: Entry and
Contracting for Emergent Outcomes in Results Driven Organizations
.

Full disclosure: I’m biased because I had the joy and honor of being a sounding
board as the book was born. It gave me a ring side seat to witnessing emerge
the best framing of how to work with leaders and organizations seeking change
that I’ve seen. Tova provides stories and a jaw-droppingly elegant framework
that is simplicity on the other side of complexity. It captures a nuanced,
multi-dimensional view of consulting work for introducing and integrating
self-organization into an organization.

In the process, she also drops gems, like offering the most cogent,
myth-busting explanation of that oh-so-frustrating complaint that so many of us
hear: yes, it was a great meeting but nothing happened afterwards. I’ll just
leave that as a teaser to say if you want to know more, get the book. (It’s in
a section called Endings and outcomes in Chapter 3. Beginnings and Endings.)

Give yourself or a friend a gift for the new year.

Best of the season,
Peggy

Re: [OSList] Apology

2021-12-16 Thread Peggy Holman via OSList
Jeff,

I just re-read your posts. Perhaps because I’m probably near you on that pole,
I found nothing inappropriate or offensive in what you said. I thought Mark
said it well — you were open and honest.

John — thanks for the nod on graphics. I don’t recall if I’ve mentioned it…I
have a chapter on my website originally written for a book that didn’t happen
on Engaging Emergence: Designing Conversations that Work

that has my favorite framework for thinking about the work we do. I don’t know
that it can turn bad bosses into good ones. It does offer a path for those with
even a hint of curiosity about the potential of self-organization.

Best of the season to all,
Peggy
