OSM "Quick Actions" : Profile Specific?

2020-10-28 Thread J Albrecht
I’ve just recently started using “Quick Actions”. It’s a fantastic feature to
have!

I wonder if I’m missing something important. In my mind, it makes clear sense
to have defined sets of “Quick Actions” unique to each profile. Otherwise, the
panel would be littered by actions inappropriate for other Profiles.
Unfortunately, I’m only able to create a single “Quick Actions” set which
repeats for each Profile. It’s really quite irritating with its inefficiency as
I must often scroll through irrelevant actions to finally arrive at the one
pertinent to the Profile.

Can somebody please enlighten in what I’m doing wrong so that I can properly
experience of the full benefits of the Quick Actions feature? Thanks in advance.

2020-01-27 Thread J Albrecht
Ummm, Your comment isn’t very clear, Dmiitry. Does this mean that it’s going to
be “all or nothing”? I think and hope not!

Can you please confirm that you meant to write: “…you will be able to choose a
unique Navigation type for each profile.”

Re: HowTo: sync favourites between devices with Syncthing (Success!) - almost

2020-01-18 Thread J Albrecht
Thanks for your input, Peer.

I now have full synchronisation of my “Favourites” across all of the relevant
Android devices :-) I was able to do this after installing “Apps2SD PRO” to my
rooted devices and running the ’SDFix’ option.

Furthermore, I’ve also synchronised “favourites.gpx” to my desktop. While this
provides a backup by way of the Mac’s “Time Machine”, I had also wanted to be
able to edit the POIs on Google Earth. This would be much more convenient than
doing it on a ‘droid. However, Google Earth’s .gpx import doesn’t (or at least
“didn’t” in my case) appear to preserve the folder structure; the POIs are no
longer separated into the OsmAnd-specified “Categories”. As a result, I’m
currently unable to effectively edit the favourites file as desired. Does
somebody know of a way to edit favourites.gpx externally while maintaining
“Categories”?

Re: HowTo: sync favourites between devices with Syncthing

2020-01-17 Thread J Albrecht
Thanks for your “Syncthing” explanation, A Thompson (particularly the point
about the .stignore file!). If I can get this to work, it will be an ideal
solution for my wife and I to be able to share POI’s with each other. Alas,
it’s not working for me.

Since I don’t have enough storage capacity on Internal Memory, I have no choice
but to store all of OSMAnd’s data on my devices’ external SD cards.
Unfortunately, Syncthing only has readonly access to this location. As a
result, changes can’t be synchronised.

With the above in mind, can somebody perhaps suggest a viable workaround?

In an ideal world, we’d be able to stipulate where the favourites file can be
saved to and accessed from. In my case, that would be anywhere on my devices
where I have readwrite capability.

Where are the Osmand photos stored?

2019-12-23 Thread J Albrecht
Hello all,

Could somebody please enlighten me as to where the photos captured with Osmand
are stored on Android devices. I need to back them up but have been unable to
determine the storage location. In addition, my phone’s Gallery application
does not pick them up.

Thanks!

Re: All my maps are gone!

2019-08-27 Thread J Albrecht

Same thing happened to me last week! Something “ate” my external micro SD card
and rendered it totally useless on my phone. It's completely inaccessible.
However, when put into a card reader, I can access the contents on my Macbook

Re: Keeping destination in OsmAnd

2019-07-16 Thread J Albrecht
Works like a proverbial charm over here. As I expect if does for everybody else
if they set intermediate and final destinations properly. This adverb does not
seem to apply to you. Re-read the instructions and everything that has been
posted here and try again. Eventually, regardless of how “useless” your current
attempts have been, you should get it right!

Re: Is it possible to import a list of POI from a spreadsheet?

2019-05-27 Thread J Albrecht
Hello Boris,

Perhaps the following may help:

POI
“Point of Interest” files can be imported into OsmAnd and saved as “Favourites”.
Suitable import files include:
kml
gpx

kml
Create or download a kml file containing POI references.
Save the file on the Android device
Open the file with OsmAnd
This should happen automatically. If not, choose “Open with…”
Open “My Places”. The kml file will be loaded into Import > Tracks
Select the file.
Touch the “3 Vertical Dots” icon to the right off the Search icon
Select “Add to Favourites”
Activate the “Points” check box
Touch the Favourites icon (the Star)
IMPORTANT: Define the name for this group of favourites

If the above steps are not followed precisely, the POIs will not be saved to a
Favourites group. Rather, every POI within the imported kml file will be saved
as an individual file in the general “Favourites” folder

gpx
POIs can be created from gpx files which are either self-created or downloaded
from Google Maps
