Re: Favorites??

2022-05-27 Thread Max1234 Ita
Hi, there's no Auto-sync feature, but you can just open the directory you
selected for OsmAnd data storage (you can find it in the settings menu) and
send the POI or tracks of your interest to a cloud storage
(GDrive/Dropbox), or simply send them to yourself as email attachments.

Once you receive them on the other device, just tap the one you like and
OsmAnd will import it in a proper way.

Re: Measure distance widget

2020-10-18 Thread Max1234 Ita
I think they have decided to rename it since it now has improved features.
Now you can still measure the distance between points, but now you have
also the option to calculate it along a way, by "sticking" to roads and
tracks.

If you want to know what's the distance you will travel, you don't need to
point multiple times to follow every single bend, just click the start and
finish points, and the line will be drawn along a calculated route between
Hence the name "Plan a route".

Personally, I find that very comfortable (and of course the old option to
measure point-by-point is still available)

No Gavin, it's still there!
It has been just renamed.
Try looking for 'Plan a route' in the main menu ;)

Best things,

Re: Issues with GPS fix in mountain areas

2019-09-07 Thread MAx1234 Ita
Just one last question: is the Android you have in your cell a Stock version or
maybe you have installed any modded/unofficial rom?

In some cases, modded roms are derived from other devices (i.e. with the same
cpu) and could not fully support all the hardware in yours: I had a similar
experience, several years ago, when I installed a Cyanogen mod in my cell: it
was nice but I completely lost the FM radio and GPS functionality.

If this is your case, try also reverting to a standard rom from Samsung;
anyway,if the
Problem persists, it is definitely an issue with your device.

Please let us know when you have some news.

There should be no problem with map name, since OsmAnd will use every file
with .obf extension it finds in the map storage directory.

Just make sure that you're pointing to the correct directory path (check
Settings menu -> General Settings -> Data storage folder); path may vary
depending on Android versions and on the fact you are using an external SD.
Sometimes it might be a little tricky to find the correct path but you can
do it with some trial and error...

Cheers,

Re: OsmAnd rendering speed (or lack of)

2017-12-19 Thread MAx1234 Ita

I agree with Harry and Mikolaj: multi-thread would speed up the rendering.
One or more threads might be used to implement caching, which would also
help a lot.
Unfortunately I'm not a developer and I don't know how these features would
impact on the code, but if they could be done it would be very appreciated
by most of the users... I think.

Best regards,
Max - Italy
