Re: Xamarin Forms xcode and Mac
I'm also wondering if you can run big Sur as a guest os on a older Parallels/Macos host system. I'll give that a try too. How about running Big Sur on a VMWARE (or similar) system? There's some Hackintosh links around as well, for running it directly on non apple hardware. I'm getting tired of the Apple ecosystem refusing to allow updates, and apps refusing to upgrade unless you have the latest sparkling new Apples. https://shaadlife.com/macos-big-sur-on-vmware/?amp Mike On Thu, Oct 14, 2021, 05:25 Greg Keogh wrote: > After more research about the dependencies around the Xamarin.iOS > ecosystem I am pretty sure that I have hit a wall of dominos 5-deep. Re: Xamarin Forms xcode and Mac
After more research about the dependencies around the Xamarin.iOS ecosystem I am pretty sure that I have hit a wall of dominos 5-deep. It goes like this: VS2019 Community for Mac 8.10.11 (8) comes with --> Xamarin.iOS 15.0.0.6 needs --> Xcode 13 needs --> macOS Big Sur 11.3 needs --> *(some iMac)* My iMac is a 27-inch, Late 2013, 3.2GHz i5 running Catalina 10.15.7 and I am not being offered or allowed any more OS updates. I've asked a Genius friend to confirm this. If true, then I actually have hit the wall and will need a new Mac. If I could downgrade to Xamarin.iOS 14.14 then everything would be back in-range again, but apparently that would require downgrading VS2019 as well and it gets really messy. *Greg K* >
Re: [OT] VPN
Using Proton. Paid version. Very happy with it, works on Linux, PC and my Android tablet. Has never let me down, has plenty of endpoints etc On 13/10/21 4:41 pm, Tom P wrote: Hi folks What VPN provider are some of you using at home and are happy with? There are many and mixed reviews. Not sure about the dependencies but I bought the kids a macmini M1 for about a grand. Craps all over my top of the line Lenovo X1 carbon which cost considerably more. I'm probably jumping ship to one of the next MacBook Pros being released next week ... Xamarin Forms xcode and Mac
Folks, I'm creating a brand new Forms app to target Android and iOS. I have VS2019 for Mac and all the packages are fully updated (I hope) so I'm developing on the latest versions of everything. The Android app has passed the sanity check and I sideloaded it via App Centre (but not the Play Store because I still can't find a way of finding the app that is in *Internal Testing* mode). The iOS app however is telling me that Xcode 12.4 is selected and 13.0 or later is required for this Xamarin.iOS. Now I'm stuffed because Xcode 13 requires macOS 11.3+ and I'm running 10.15.7. I have hit the Mac update limit and no more updates are available for me, perhaps due to my July 2015 vintage Mac. Here's the tricky question with a chain of dependencies... *Do I need a new Mac with the latest macOS so I can run Xcode 13 so I can develop Xamarin Forms iPhone apps in VS2019 for Mac?* If this is true, then others here must have hit the same wall and will be very confused and angry. A new iMac will cost as much as a Fiji holiday. Maybe there's a way of reducing the version dependencies somehow so I can make iPhone apps with my current setup. *Greg K*
