Testing - are mails going missing again? I posted one 3 times and it has not appeared in my in box, also very few posts these past 3 days Sue
[ozmidwifery] Re: missing post on the list
Hi Sue, I found one of your messages in my ISP's junk filter. I released it and it came through to the list as usual. I have set the level of filtering at my ISP to the maximum (getting 200+ spam emails a day) and sometimes it picks up messages for the ozmid list. Every day I go the website for my ISP and check the quarantine area to make sure I don't miss anything genuine. I suspect that many other ozmid listers may be having problems with messages being caught up like this. I can only suggest that you all check you own ISP junk filter system (find out what this is if you don't know). Another suggestion would be to make sure that you don't copy your message for the list to others at the same time - that is, send messages only to the list. Messages to multiples people at the same time can look like spam to a filtering system. I know that I miss some messages from time to time and realise this when I see replies from someone else, quoting the original message. As I have said before, we are not censoring any of these messages and everything should go through. Why some messages miss out is anyone's guess - the internet and email is not a perfect system and in the efforts to prevent our in-boxes being totally clogged by spam, we have to pay as small price, it seems. Let's just keep going on as we are - most stuff is coming though and it is always fascinating reading! Andrea At 12:38 AM 10/10/2006, you wrote: Testing - are mails going missing again? [ozmidwifery] midwives in Alice
Hi All, just a quick message to ask if any of you work in Alice Springs? If so, what's it like to work there in midwifery, and would it be necessary to have dual qualifications to work there? Could direct entry midwives gain employment? Also, do you ever have students? Yours in anticipation, Astra. -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics. Yes and for others as well. MM From: owner-ozmidwifery@acegraphics.com.au [mailto:owner-ozmidwifery@acegraphics.com.au] On Behalf Of cath nolan Sent: Tuesday, 10 October 2006 7:56 AM To: ozmidwifery@acegraphics.com.au Subject: [ozmidwifery] missing mail I am getting Susan Cudlipp's test message coming in my email inbox, not to the diverted ozmid list. Is this happening to anyone else?, Cath.
[ozmidwifery] List problems
Susan Your message came to my inbox but not to my ozmidwifery sub folder. The differences I can see is that all the ozmid messages have [ozmidwifery] in the subject heading and yours doesn't, it just says (no subject header). And your messagesays To: midwifery list and my ozmid messages say To: ozmidwifery @acegraphics.com.au. I have had thishappen to me and tried to send the message two ways to figure it out. Either go to your address book and create mail to ozmidwifery or reply to someone else's from the list. I think I had more success with creating mail straight from my address book. It isn't always a problem so I never understand why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Go figure! Re: [ozmidwifery] midwives in Alice
Hi Astra, I have worked there about 4 years ago and have a midwife friend working there at the moment who says they are absolutely crying out for midwives. It is soley a mid unit so I don't think you would need dual qualifications. They do have student midwives there as well as midwives doing the grad program. As far as the work. there is alot of high risk as alot of the women who birth there are indigenous, and many have underlying health problems. You definitely get to see and learn new things. A doctor I was recently working with in Katherine (NT) from Zimbabwe said that the health of aboriginal people is worse than third world countries. So I guess in one sense it is great experience, but I have to admit I did miss just having normal straight forward births. Hope this helps. Re: [ozmidwifery] List problems
Thanks all I do send to ozmidwifery - its just titled asMidlist in my address book The 3 messages I tried to send were responses to Melissa's post and I always hit 'reply' not 'reply all'. When it didn't appear I tried forwarding it x2 to 'midlist' but it never arrived - oh well I have replied to her personally now. Will check my spam folder as you suggest Andrea.
