Hi All on the list,

As Lieve wrote Mary Zwart will know, since she is in the Dutch ACMI (=NOV)
equivalent. She is a friend of mine. We were in the same class (3 years) in
Midwifery School in Amsterdam. For about 30 odd years she had a home midwifery
practice in Harderwijk with over 300 births a year. Now she is retired from home
birthing, but is still giving lectures all over the world. She is also involved
with the Cathherine Schrader Stichting in Holland, that pushes for the midwifery
model of care. She would love to come to OZ if anyone would like to sponser her.
We keep in phone contact often. I'll try to contact her tonight and ask her by
phone if she will write
Love from Anke.

Her email adress is as Lieve wrote [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Julie,

I am not sure how specific you want but the following site provides some comprehensive stats on major hospitals in England, Scotland and Wales. Unfortunately it doesn't provide averages, just breakdowns for each of the hospitals.

By clicking on the compare units button on the right side and you can get comparison data (top 10%, lowest 10% or nearest 10%) on Caesarean section, Elective Caesarean, Emergency Caesarean, Epidural, Episiotomy, Induction, Forceps, Ventouse, homebirth and births per midwife per year rates.

RE: [ozmidwifery] UK Holland NZ Birth Stats

2003-02-25 Thread Joyce, Sally

Julie,

I did
a brief search on the internet and found the following reference. It was just a
linking site and gave me the following information.

For anybody interested
in maternity care/midwifery in the Netherlands.

Over the past twelve
years I have collected the following list of
literature (in English)
on the organisation of maternity services in the
Netherlands (often
incorrectly referred to as Holland). If anyone knows of

any other papers, book
chapters, conference proceedings please send me the
relevant details and I
shall add them to this list of references.
The web
page address is:

http://www.abdn.ac.uk/public_health/phresear/dutch.htmi

Best
wishes,

Edwin

Unfortunately the web page address doesn't work any more but he is still
at the university and apparently is still collecting information. For more
information about Edwin try http://www.abdn.ac.uk/public_health/eteijlingen.hti
A list of references are provided at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/public_health/dutch.hti

He
might be able to help you track down some statistics.
Sally

PS - Research is
my passion so I am only to glad to try to help
out.

  Julie,

  I am not
sure how specific you want but the following site provides some comprehensive
stats on major hospitals in England, Scotland and Wales. Unfortunately it
doesn't provide averages, just breakdowns for each of the hospitals.

  By
clicking on the compare units button on the right side and you can get
comparison data (top 10%, lowest 10%or nearest 10%) on Caesarean
section, Elective Caesarean, Emergency Caesarean, Epidural, Episiotomy,
Induction, Forceps, Ventouse, homebirth and births per midwife per year
  rates.
