[Paraview] Automatic translation with Tube?

2015-07-27 Thread Jesse Samluk
Greetings all,

Attached is a rendering I constructed with Paraview. I turned the
StreamTracer on so you can see the purpose behind my question.

The StreamTracer (thin blue lines) is in the correct position, however the
yellow Tube is not (it’s translated by 5 units on the y-axis as I soon
discovered).

My question is - is there some type of automatic setting with Tubes in
Paraview? I didn’t touch the translation at all, so I’m curious why the Tubes
are pushed out a bit.

Thanks!

Just “bumping” this question:

Paraview for Dummies question - it won’t let me delete that other VTK file in
 the Pipeline browser (grayed out).

There’s only an option for delete all (yikes!). Any other suggestions?

 Dan and Cory,

Thanks for the guides. I’m getting a lot better at animations now! Awesome!
 The guides helped a lot.

1 more quick question for you.

I know how to save state files, but is there such a way to save the
animation “state” that I just created in a state file, such that, if I use
that state file, the animation scheme will reappear to other data files I’ve
 created?

Wasn’t too sure on this.

  Thanks!

Re: [Paraview] Custom animation help? (Corrected image)

2015-07-15 Thread Jesse Samluk
Cory,

Right, but isn’t that going to “throw away” the animation “tracks I just
created?

For instance, I have created an animation with a vtk data set I’m working with.
Cool.

But say I close Paraview, I lose the animation tracks I just created. Right.

So how can I save those animation tracks? Is this even possible in Paraview?

Thanks!
Jesse

Re: [Paraview] Beginner's question: new data set with same filters. How?

2015-04-29 Thread Jesse Samluk
Dr. Cohen,

What I mean by this is, when I first start Paraview, I hit FileLoad State.
Basically, there’s instances with the data that I used that I want saved and
loaded when I revisit Paraview., whether it be a certain aspect of an image, a
different field piece (I’m working with electromagnetics), etc.

I deal with this situation? Loading the state does not seem to work as

more). Any ideas in this case? Also Jesse, what do you mean that you load
your state file first? If I do that it ask me what data set I wish to load.
Is that what you are referring to?

 Rob,

There are two ways to do this:

1). Once your pipeline is set up, you can right-click on the input object in
the Pipeline Browers and choose Change Input... If you have loaded a new data
set, you can change the input to this new one.

2). As others have said, you can save a ParaView state file. When you reload
it, a dialog box asking you to confirm where the data files that were loaded
are located will appear, and you can change the locations of those files to
your new files there. Note that loading state files is cumulative - you will
need to reset the state manually if you want to clear your old pipeline and
data out. You can do this by clicking on the icon with the two computers and
 red x.

 Hope that helps,
 Cory

2015-04-28 Thread Jesse Samluk
Rob,

Did you try saving a “state file”? What that is is basically it saves your
current parameters/filters which you load after opening Paraview so that you
don’t have to recreate them again.

The way I do it is load my state file first, then my data. Works every time.

  Should be under FileSave State.

Let us know if that’s what your looking for.

[Paraview] Getting values out of ParaView without Python?

2014-02-25 Thread Jesse Samluk
Greetings all,

Keeping with the animation topic, I made an animation with several camera
values, such that I had my object face front, got the value of the coordinates
and made a time slot for it in the overall animation scheme, turned it up, got
the value of those coordinates and made a time slot for that in the scheme,
turned it down, etc. etc.

Now, is there any possible way to extract those values? I have to do several
animations of similar object using the same animation scheme and I would hate
to reinvent the wheel each time.

Utkarsh recommended a Python script - I unfortunately do not know anything
about Python.

Can anyone suggest any alternative method? Please let me know if you need to
see the animation.

Thanks!

[Paraview] Some more questions on animation

2014-02-24 Thread Jesse Samluk
Greetings all,

I'm trying to make several animations that involve the use of the same camera
values in the Animation Keyframes. In so doing, is it possible to simply cut
and paste the values to other animations? If so, how do I go about doing that?

Also, what is the best way to export the animations to Powerpoint?

[Paraview] Loading two state files at once?

2013-12-20 Thread Jesse Samluk
Greetings all,

Sorry if this seems complicated. I have two state files that have bits and
pieces I like from each and I am trying to combine them into one state file.
So I was of the approach that I would need to load one state file with a vtk
file and the other with the same vtk, but it always shows the second vtk
file's rendered image, and not the first one.

Is there a way to load both state files with the same vtk file and create
a new state file with the properties and such in the pipeline browser?

   Thanks!

There is no internal function in ParaView to take a screen shot of the entire
GUI. The pictures you see posted are taken with some external screen grab

(copies to clipboard). On Mac you can do this by pressing command+shift+3 or
command+shift+4 (saves to desktop). There are also numerous third-party
utilities to grab the screen. That said, I'm not sure what you are intending
to accomplish by capturing the entire GUI instead of just using ParaView's
save screenshot function. It really only helps to show some information about
the state of ParaView, and it's not particularly good at that.

Once again, to make an animation of the entire GUI, you need a third party
utility. If you happen to have one, it could simplify making an animation. If
not, you could establish an animation within ParaView and use the save
 animation function. The ParaView Tutorial

Re: [Paraview] [EXTERNAL] Saving files

2013-11-18 Thread Jesse Samluk
No Alan (and thanks for the reply btw). But then again I'm a noob at ParaView,
so go easy on me.

So, I loaded in a .vtk file from a program a ran, in combination with a state
file that was given to me. That resulted in an awesome image.

However, the person who provided me with the state file also edited the
rendered image. And since I'm new at all this, I was wondering if there was an
option to not only save the image as a file, but also all of the parameters he
edited in Properties.

Would this be considered a state file?

Thanks!
Jesse

Hey - maybe I'll get a response this time, because the last time I sent
 something, I didn't!

I am new to ParaView. I have loaded a .vtk file and state file, and someone
was helping me with Paraveiw by editing the properties in the Pipeline
 Browser.

How can I save all the information I see in Paraview?

 Thanks!

Why don't you want to save the animation?

If you want to only save the image (which you don't), that is another command
file/ save screenshot. To save a movie, file/ save animation.

 Jesse,

I think a state file is the closest thing to what you are asking for. As you
observed, it captures all of the readers and objects you are using along with
all the parameters so that you can recreate them.

[Paraview] Being able to see field data in Paraview

2013-11-05 Thread Jesse Samluk
Greetings,

I am a new Paraview user, and am still getting used to the program.

I have several .vtk files that have a EM grid, as well as the corresponding
electric and magnetic field data,

When I open the EM grid, I can see that without any problems, but I cannot
see the field lines at all.

I don't know the easiest way to show this on the mailing list, but can
anyone provide me with further instructions/guidance?

  Thanks!
   Jesse
