Re: editing music

2004-06-18 Thread Melissa Hambleton
Thanks for the instructions. They worked really well. I just have another
problem I have to get straightened out. The person that I had personally
build my computer was the one to install CoolEdit Pro on my computer and I
believe they put the scripts in the wrong place because whenever I try to
change anything or really do anything to the song none of the commands work.
I guess I'll have to put the scripts where they belong so I can use the
commands. Again, thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

Re: Which Nero

2004-06-18 Thread Gary Wood
Well it seems to me that Nero is quite accessible, but I got 5.5, because I
hear that it's supposed to be better than 66.0. Nero 5.5 has the wizard,
but Nero 6 doesn't.

Well Billy, a downloaded MP3 file is already an MP3 file. So you wouldn't
need to rip it.

Is "Batch Merging" of MP3 files possible???

2004-06-18 Thread Robert & Heather Williams
Hello folks,
I've got about 70 lectures recorded in MP3 format. Each is about an
hour long. The person who recorded them originally intended to make
them into indexed audio CDs, and so he broke each lecture up into 20-50
smaller MP3 files. I'd like to have them back together again as a
single MP3 file for each lecture. Short of creating a playlist for
each lecture, is there such a thing as a "Batch Merge" where some kind
of software could merge multiple sequential MP3 files into a single
file?
Otherwise I'll have to COPY, PASTE, COPY, PASTE over and over again for
days.

(The reason I can't create a software specific playlist i.e, Winamp, is
because I need to distribute these lectures to people who will be using
different MP3 software players like Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.,
not to mention different hardware players. Is there one generic
playlist format universally recognized? Winamp uses a playlist with an
.M3U extension, others use ones with a .PLS extension.)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: recordable media for sony questions?

2004-06-18 Thread Clifford Blackwell
Hello Shannon,

Sonic Stage 1 was/disasterously inaccessible with Jaws. I don't know
about Window Eyes, but I don't think users of that had much more luck.
I suspect you have version 1.

There is a new version Sonic Stage 2.0 that bundles with a form of Open
MG JUkebox. I haven't played with that, but another poster said it is
somewhat speech friendly. Go to:

Connect.com

to download a copy of the new version and given it a whirl! Let us
know what you find out.

Depending upon what you want to do with it, there are other programs
for transferring music such as mp3-2-minidisc or Realone and I suppose
Real 10. You may need a version of Open MG Jukebox to use the Real
Player product though.

Feel free to write me off list if you want further help. Iwill be hard
to reach over the weekend though.

Clifford

Thanks for the answer.
I now have another and maybe you could help?
I just got this player and it comes with a disk for it called sonic
stage

Do you know any thing about this software? I have a win 2000pro machine
and
running window eyes. I wonder if they are compatible?

Thanks Shannon

play windows media streams through winamp

2004-06-18 Thread Schulz, Maureen, SSA
I am trying to play windows media streams in winamp and got these
instructions from the winamp page: remove the wm dll file in program
files/plugins section, which I did. Install the windows media 9 series
cotics, which I did. Then add the wma extension to the extensions list in
preferences/plugins/input/direct show plugin. I don't see an extension list
under configure in the direct show plugin. It says: "no configuration
yet". So where is this extensions list I add wma to?-- Thanks.

But, when I do this I get a message telling me that the file is not a valid

The file plays just fine.
Does anyone know if there is something I can do to correct this problem?

Hi, Curtis, are they still making accessible versions of narrow,
because I need to get a cd burner, and would like to get the narrow
that others were talking about, where you just choose audio verses
data, then copy the files with internet explorer, paste them in to the
compilation window, and burn the cd, though it might not be that
simple, but I've never used cd burning software for obvious reasons.

Re: recordable media for sony questions?

2004-06-18 Thread Clifford Blackwell
The 80 minute recording time is for a minidisc at the standard play back
mode. There are up to two so called long play modes generally
designated as lp2 and lp4. Using an 80 minute minidisc and the longest
mode you can get up to 5 hours of material on the 80 minute disk.

You will experience some reduction in sound quality the slower you go
though. It also takes longer to access material stored on the disk as
there is more to look through.

Hello listers,
I have a question about mini disks.
I have a sony net md player and it takes mini disks that have a
protective
shield one recordable media is provided with it. the disk itself says
80
min recording but the documentation of this player says up to 5 hours
of
music on one disk.
I don't understand?
How can it say 80 min and 5 hours?
Could some one shed some light on this?
I would really appreciate it. I want to use this for recording books
too and
I know that a book is alott longer than 80 min.

Thanks for any info.

Hi Daniel,

I don't have a plextor drive, nor do I know if nero will support it; but I
do have instructions on using nero and it is quite accessible and has plenty
of keyboard shortcuts ta boot. Once we find out if nero supports it, if you
want I'll send you the instructions for using it if things should proceed in
that direction.

Hello Daniel,
I don't have that specific Plextar model, but Nero 6 does work with the external
Plextalk unit I own. Go to the Nero web site and try out their demo. It's fully
functional so you'll know if it works or not ahead of time.

Recomendation needed for cd burning program that will work with Plextor cd burner

2004-06-18 Thread daniel gobeil
Hi listers, I haven't posted to this list but I'm an occasional reader.
what I need is some recomendations for a cd burning program that will work
on win '98 first eddition with a new plextor burner.
the model number is Plextor cd-r Px-W5224A.
I've tried installing EZ cd Creator 6, which came bundled with it, but it
tells me that '98 FE doesn't support it.
then I went to their site, Plextor's that is, to see which software their
drives supported.
diskjuggler 4.0 was one of them and GearPro was another one.
I tried diskjuggler but that one, and the Plextools software that comes
with it are both Drag and drop software, and there are no keyboard
shortcuts even mentioned.
what I need to know is does anyone have one of these burners, and if so,
does anyone know some software that will work like EZ cd Crator but is
supported on Win '98 First Eddition?
I'd like to get Ez Cd Crator 5. something which may work with this burner.
I don't mind there being new software, but jeez, let them at least realize
that not everyone can drag and drop with a bloody flippin' mouse!
anyone tried any version of Nero software with this burner?

Anyone, help!!!
Regards; Daniel gobeil

recordable media for sony questions?

2004-06-18 Thread shannon
Hello listers,
I have a question about mini disks.
I have a sony net md player and it takes mini disks that have a protective
shield one recordable media is provided with it. the disk itself says 80
min recording but the documentation of this player says up to 5 hours of
music on one disk.
I don't understand?
How can it say 80 min and 5 hours?
Could some one shed some light on this?
I would really appreciate it. I want to use this for recording books too and
I know that a book is alott longer than 80 min.

Thanks for any info.
Shannon

Re: burning gapless cds?

2004-06-18 Thread Gary G. Schindler

Matthew, could This be the reason when I tried to make a disc at once CD with easy cd
creator, I was missing most of the first track on the disc, and the rest of the tracks
were out of synch, starting in the middle of the songs? I broke down a Frank Sinatra
DVD and converted the tracks to mp3. would it help to if I slowed down the write speed
of the burner? it was at 40 X.

Hello Hank. In the lossless audio community of traders, not only does mp3
music suffer quality loss, which personally I can't hear, but you will
always get little gaps between tracks which have been made from mp3's, even
if you reconvert the mp3's back into .wav files. For some technical reason,
mp3's lose tracking boundries. If you want a seamless transition such as for
a live cd, you'll need to use .wav files sources to start with. For
instance, if you've just finished putting an album or tape onto your hard
drive, and you want the music to flow smoothly, you'll need to keep the .wav
files around to burn them smoothly from then on. Once you convert to mp3 and
use these mp3 files, the transition is no longer smooth.
Thanks a lot.
