sound forge 6.0

2005-01-18 Thread Isaac
Is there some tips about using s.f. 6. A problem I have is when I open a file
s.f. builds a proxy for the file. Is this the way its supposed to work? One
other thing is when I save a file I have worked the saved file is many times
larger then the original. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ike

Cable vs DSL

2005-01-18 Thread Gary Wood
Hi all. I don't know if this has been discussed before on this list, or not,
but I'm thinking of maybe getting Dish Network. Other than being a little
slower, is the quality of things you listen to or download from as good as
cable broadband. If any of you have used cable, then went to a Dish (or at
least DSL), how do they compare for you? Does the Dish seem more accessible to
you?

Re: Cingular and the Talks software

2005-01-18 Thread Leslie Underwood
Hello Rick, It is wonderful. It works like this: Cingular will tell you
that the Nokia 6620 is the only phone that can accommodate the Talks
software. But that is not true. the 6620 is expensive; $300. But the
software is free. You need to purchase the software from them up front and
they will reimburse you after you send back their rebate statement saying
you are blind. The $199 is credited to your account.

Now as far as the software is concerned, it is wonderful. It uses
Eloquence. All menus are accessible. It will even tell you how many items
are in a list. You can adjust the volume, pitch, speed and punctuation
through the Talks menu and submenu. I am very happy with it. If you need
any more info, contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi, Funny you should ask! Around ten minutes ago I just got done loading
the Talks in my Nokia 6620. The speech is extremely clear. I have to go
through the CD tutorial that comes with it to learn to operate the phone.
If you email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to ask your questions, some time
this weekend, I can give you and idea. I'm sure their are others on the
list that also have it. Give me a day or so to play with it and I will
 email you my opinion.

I'm looking for some honest opinions regarding the Nokia 6620/Talks

Also if anyone knows of other cell phone carriers that are providing

There's certainly some wisdom in the philosophy of upgrading only when
you
have to but I must admit, after buying a new PC recently, I've upgraded
winamp, nero, notmad explorer, real player and windows media player and
am
wishing I'd done so ages back.

With regards to nero though, I think Richard's spot on; if you don't
need
any additional functionality and your burning CD's with no problem, I'd
stick with what you've got. I would also say though that in nero's
case,
the interface has not changed between 5.5 and version 6.

Unless the latest version has more features that you really need

You can't convert mid to wave, unless you want to just record the midi file

Sorry if I'm asking what's been asked in the past with this.
Anyone played with MP4 and (if you have) and (if you've used it for audio)
then what do you think of it as compared to MP3, OGG etc, have you sued any
special settings or have you just stuck with the defaults as presented by

I'd try a program called midi to wave converter. That one will do it for
you. Sorry I don't have a url but it can be found easily enough. That's One
choice. You also could use such a program as Recall Pro from
http://sagebrush.com as that program will allow you to select your midi
synth and record in to recall pro.
