KMOX Online

2005-03-15 Thread Jim Fettgather
Hi to the list.
It appears as if the new KMOX Internet stream, which can be found at
www.kmox.com
uses a Flash movie to deliver their feed, and so far I have had no luck in
activating the unlabeled buttons to start the stream.
I am wondering if anyone has had any better luck?
The fastest way to find the link to activate the player is to look for the
word NEW on the page.
I'll look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Thanks.

Re: KMOX Online

2005-03-15 Thread Kristine Hickerson
Hi Jim,

Ok, here's what I did.

It says macromedia flash movie start btn. After that by arrowing down there
are about ten lines that say btn. KMOX is the third button. So go to the
third button following the macromedia line using your down arrow and then
route jaws to PC and press the left jaws click and it should start.

The first button is KDKA, the second is one I was not familiar with and the
third is KMOX. I just listened to each one until I found KMOX.

Re: any intervideo dvd users out there?

2005-03-15 Thread Dean masters
My PC came with a vasic version of WinDVD. It seems like there was a list of
keystrokes in the help section. Try hitting alt + h for help. I am at work
so can't check it out right now. I have tried using Windows Media Player but
it did not recognize the WinDVD software. I can play DVD's through Real
Player, though. in WinDVD just try hitting alt and see what menu comes up
then look around there.

guitar chord tables?

2005-03-15 Thread shawn klein
Hi, not totally off topic I think. I'm trying to help
Maurício, the developer of the Piano Eletrónico, he's
developing a guitar chord player. We're looking for
some good chord tables on line or in some sort of
digital format. Preferably something that will give
you chord variations where all 6 strings are played.
He's also got a feature where you can play as
cavoquinho, to make it simple that's a 4 stringed
instrument like a uke. I'm sure the chords will be
different with just 4 strings. Anybody got any ideas?

a SoundForge 8.0 question.

2005-03-15 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Gang:

I have installed SF 8.0 on my desktop as well as my notebook computer. I am
able to play MP3 files on the notebook with no problem. When I try to play MP3
files on the desktop computer, SoundForge reports that this file format is not
supported.

What MP3 decoder do I require to resolve this problem?

On another matter: where can I obtain the latest JFW scripts for SoundForge?

Thanks all over the place gang.

It looks as if you have to register with another company, but I couldn't

the space bar or the enter key wouldn't activate it.

You got it, Gary; I really was afraid that something had gotten dropped,
when I disabled that one update last week..and there'd be no way to get it
back! Sorry for being a little paranoid! But yes..it was a simple
thing..even if..actually performing the task of looking for the right
cords wasn't so sinmple; I knocked the modem off..and the cord that plugs
into the back of it came out! But eventually I got everything straightened
out! I suppose this is why..whenever it was first suggested to me that..I
could have a cable that wasn't connected good and solid..I didn't really
want to explore that possibility..knowing what might happen! But the next
time..I'll check that out first thing!

Hi,

You're right the spacebar won't work. The only way I could get it work was
to route jaws to pc and then use the left jaws click and then it opened it
and started playing.

Another thing I did, which I don't know if it made any difference, but it
asked if I wanted the unsecure items shown and I said no. But the Jaws
cursor was the only way I could activate the buttons.

Scrubbing in FS 8.0.

2005-03-15 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Folks:

For those who might like to know more about the scrubbing feature in SoundForge
8.0, here is the text of the help file. I think that you will agree that it is
AwesomenessCoolness.

 Scrub using the keyboard

Press the J, K, or L keys to use the keyboard as a scrub control. The scrub
control at the bottom of the active data window will reflect the current rate
and direction of playback.

J: Scrub reverse mode. Press again to accelerate the playback rate.
K: Pause.
L: Scrub forward mode. Press again to accelerate the playback rate.

Press and hold K while pressing K or L to emulate a shuttle knob mode. Press
K+J to turn the knob to the left or K+L to turn the knob to the right.

Hi Doug,
It may very well be that there are indeed no files answering your search
criteria, however if you are also running quickmx, you might want to click
the file button situated just above where it is saying waiting on
search results with the left mouse button using the jaws curser if you are
a jaws user, this sometimes reveals the search results. Further help could
be found on the winmxfortheblind mailing list.

Subject: Winmx problem

I initiated a search on winmx about an hour and a half ago, and still have
the
waiting for results.
I'm on a cable connection with win xp sp2.
Any ideas? Is there a way I can find out if, in fact, the thing is
searching?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Another thing to try, once you have windvd open, and a dvd in your
drive, is to press the applications key. As I recall, you get choices
there too.

SoundForge 8.0 and MP3 problem resolved.

2005-03-15 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Folks:

I've discovered what probably most of you folks know already and that is, when
the Audio Attributes are set at 22,050 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono, they will not play
using an ASIO driver. This is the case in both my Delta 66 and Audigy 2 ZS
sound cards.

Am I to understand that ASIO can only be used for high quality recordings?

Thanks all over the place gang.

Re: I-pod questions

2005-03-15 Thread Dean Martineau
Tim, according to the review in AccessWatch, the IPod is supposed to have
the ability to play audio books at faster speeds, but the reviewer couldn't
make it work. Have you tried, and with any success? I'm still looking for
a way to speed books up without having recourse to expensive devices made
for the blind, though I may have to go that route eventually.

You all should try things before you proclaim them inaccessible. I've

to use is the Itunes software, but if you choose the Anapod software, it's
as accessible as Windows Explorer.

I don't know about the IBM, but IPODS can play MP3 WMA, and wave files, as
well as Audible books. They're not that accessible for blind users. I know
there is an alternative to Itunes, but still its not accessible. Access
World did a review of the Ipod.

I have two questions about I-pods. Does an I-pod take
CDs and compress them, or does it take them as they are. And, in that
case, can you put MP3s on there. Also, what will I pay for a good size
one and can it be used with an IBM? Thanks. Kurt
