Having troulbe burning CD's on d drive

2005-10-22 Thread Terri Elliott
I'm trying to burn some CD's on the d drive using the XP program. I'm able
to put the songs on the D drive but when I try writing theCD 'swith the
Window's CD program Jaws keeps saying that there is no CD in the CD drive
and there is. I'm using CDRW's. I was able to burn one CD without any
trouble but when I tried burning another one I was not able to do so. If
anyone knows or has any ideas or suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Having troulbe burning CD's on d drive

2005-10-22 Thread R Q J
Hi Terri,
If you are burning music cd's, it is recommended that you use cdr's, and not
cdrw disks.
Possible causes for this message are:
1. the disk is in the drive upside down.
2. the disk is corrupt.
You can get bad disks even if they are new.
3. If the disk is a cdrw, it may need to be erased, or will not work for
this particular use.
4. You may have inserted the disk at an inappropriate timeduring the setup
dialogue, and the disk has not been recognized.
You will have to experiment with this because this is not always consistent
from system to system.
If I've missed anything, I'm sure someone else will let me know. smile.

Help with recording a chorus

2005-10-22 Thread Kathy szinnyey

Fast Forward Rewind in Winamp

2005-10-22 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Whenever I try to fast forward or rewind through and mp3 in Winamp, by
holding down the right or left arrow for more than about two or three

Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fast forward or rewind

Re: Fast Forward Rewind in Winamp

2005-10-22 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Well, I re-upgraded to 5.1, and that seems to have solved the problem. I
supposed the widely-discussed problems with the library function in 5.1 will
reappear. but, as I hardly ever use the library, and now know how to manage
my bookmarks by directly editing winammp.bm, I can do quite nicely without
it. The only reason I down-graded to 5.092 was that the problems with the
library seemed to be getting progressively worse, and there didn't seem to
be any advantage, for me, in using 5.1 rather than 5.092. But, now, I have
found such an advantage, and a very great one, given all the podcasts I've
started listening to, since my first upgrade to 5.1.

Thanks, again to you and Bruce.

Re: Help with recording a chorus

2005-10-22 Thread doc
That will be rather difficult without being there but the best I can suggest
is tthat if you are not going through a sound board whereby you could
connect a cable directly, you will need to stand in a location where you can
hear everything clearly. that will be your spot. Be aware that with that
type of open air recording your sound will be somewhat airy.

   mono.
You see, I been converting books on cassette to MP3/WMA CDs.
And then breaking the 1 MP3 track that is the whole book down to 5
minute
   tracks.
But when I burn them to the CD, with or with out a play list, the
tracks do
not play in the correct order.

So I give up! I decided that I should use an MP3 player. that will
play
   MP3 and WMA files.

So I want to put many books on to a MP3 player, using 1 track per book!
Also
I need the MP3 player to be able to be turn off, and turn back on the
next
day at the point of the book where I left off!
question 1: will I be able to do this with a MP3 player?
question 2: will my screen reader access the program that will let me
load
my books on/off to the MP3 player?

   can anybody help?
email or call between 8am and 9 pm eastern time.

Re: Fast Forward Rewind in Winamp

2005-10-22 Thread Bruce Toews
I can't promise, but I do remember people having that problem around
5.092. I'd update to 5.11, and if you really don't like it, you can go
back.

Bruce,

I'm now using 5.092. Did this problem exist in as late a version as that?
Will simply re-upgrading to 5.1 resolve the issue?

Thanks.

Weren't you the one who rolled back to an earlier version of Winamp? It
was some of the earlier versions of Winamp which had this bug.

Re: buttons in total recorder 5.3 nott labeled

2005-10-22 Thread Dean Martineau
Hi. Indeed, the buttons in tR5.3 are not labeled, and this works the same
in JFW as with Window-Eyes. The problem is minimized by the fact that
there are keyboard shortcuts for all functions provided by the
buttons. Part of the problem may be that they have streamlined the display
so that buttons which aren't usable don't show up in the tab order in 5.3.

The buttons you see, therefore, depend on where you are and what you can do.

If you create a situation where you have a sound file loaded, so you can
either play or record, and you are at the beginning of the file, after you
tab past the volume controls and the Advanced and Mixer buttons, you come
to a slider allowing you to change your spot in the file by arrowing. You
then tab to a combo box allowing you to change the increment of movement
carried out by the forward and rewind buttons or keys. (the comma is the
rewind key and the period is the forward key.) In the position I've
described, the next four buttons are forward, To End, Play and Record.

Now, let's say you advance through the file at least a little. Now, two
other buttons become available. They are Back and To Start, and they
appear between the slider and the combo box in the tab order. When you play
a file, the play and record buttons are replaced by stop and pause, and
when you pause, you how have something which I labeled unpause.

I'm trying to burn some CD's on the d drive using the XP program. I'm
 able
to put the songs on the D drive but when I try writing theCD 'swith the
Window's CD program Jaws keeps saying that there is no CD in the CD drive
and there is. I'm using CDRW's. I was able to burn one CD without any
trouble but when I tried burning another one I was not able to do so. If
anyone knows or has any ideas or suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Total Recorder Pro scheduler not connecting

2005-10-22 Thread Ann
Hi folks,

I am using dial up, Windows XP SR2 and Total Recorder 5.2 Pro, and have been
trying to use the scheduler to connect to the internet and record streams.
But, it will not connect automatically to the Internet.

I've played with just about every setting in the Advanced tab of the
scheduler, but no luck. However, when I press the Try to Run' button to
test things, a connection to the net is established, and everything works
fine from there. It just won't do it on it's own for some reason.

Any suggestions?

~Ann

I-pods

2005-10-22 Thread Ken Burgess
Hi,

I am thinking about joining the rest of the planet and buying an I-pod. I was
wondering how suited they are for reading audio books.

For example: when you restart an I-pod, does it resume where you left off? How
low of a bitrate can it play? What about navigation for a blind person?

Re: I-pods

2005-10-22 Thread Paul Oeser
The only iPod I've used is the iPod Shuffle. It is verry
easy to use. It only has 2 buttons. The round button on top
controls the volume, going between tracks and play and stop. On the
back is a switch with 3 positions: off, shuffle and standard play.

I use it for my books I download from audible. The only problem is
that mine doesn't save the place when I stop playing the program.
When I resume the program it is usually 15 to 20 minutes ahead of
where I stopped it. I usually listen to the next 20 minutes on my
computer between the time I stop and resume playing the program on
the iPod Shuffle.
