You can hardly blame folks for their lack of I.T. knowledge. Okay, if you can deduce from file size that something's amiss you're in a good position to keep rogue software at bay, at least in this particular instance. However, a lot of people tend to take the claims associated with the program at face value. I mean to say, why shouldn't they? After all, this is the first incident of the blind being deliberately targeted by these nasties. To blame them for having faith in human nature is arrogant and unhelpful. Houdy yall, I know we've slighted this to death but there are several signs to lookout for with bad software. Most of these have already been pointed out. Hi Garry. A Virtual drive is a piece of software that you can run and it opens a folder if you will that's separate from your regular system. When you shut the drive down everything on the virtual drive gets wiped out. A virtual drive is great for test purposes. djc's Jukebox: http://paulmerrell.net:9212 Saturday Evenings 9 to midnight Eastern. So, instead of oh look how clever I am let's put our minds together and deal with the issue at hand before more unsuspecting people fall victim to the scam. It's very unconvincing for me that the software is about less hundred KB in its size! How was it, that people believed that this isn't a trick? Goldwave is more than 1000 I think as the other sound editors' size! Further, honestly, I scanned it with my AVG (free), and got no infection or something. I immediately deleted it thinking that it can execute itself! Now, I'm convinced. I'd like to ad here that I just downloaded this software but it came in way to fast so I think it could be a Virus so I'd say bookmark his page and drop him email to see if he is actually working on a piece of software but I having read that it's crashed a computer I'll install it on a virtual drive here and see what the story is. I'll report right here if it's false software or whatever but Please be careful. I have several machines here and since I image my drives I can test software and let you know the truth. Many of the older members of this list will know my main menu reviews. I build my machines from scratch and I install all the tools I need to test any software to see if it's accessible for the Blind Community. RE: Sony NWA608 MP3 player.
Jim, Can you point me to a link where I can read about this player? I am researching a number of digital mp3 players for a friend. Hi Folks: Anyone had any experience with the Sony NWA608 player? If so, how so. From an operational point of view, it's realy quite friendly. The problem, it would appear that one has to use their software to transfer music to the player, even in MP3 format. Looking forward to your response. Real1 player
Unfortunately, some streams I like use Real1 Player. (can't do anything about that). But, when exiting the stream, I'm left in something called message center. Is there some way I can avoid that screen popping up and exiting Real1 directly?
