Audio HQ doesn't work anymore

2006-06-22 Thread Betsy Sawyers
Hello,

A couple months ago I installed an SBLive Value card in a 1.1 GHZ computer
running windows XP home and JFW 7.0. At the time of install, the Audio HQ
worked fine. I've had a lot going on so hadn't played with it again since
early April, but when I finally got around to that last night, it wouldn't
work. When I click on it in the start menu I get the program open sound but
find myself on the start button with no audio HQ. I can't imagine what the
problem is. This machine also has Window-eyes on it and had no luck using
it either. I dread doing a reinstall if necessary because that is so tricky
with speech, but will do whatever would fix the problem.

The Creative launcher plays havoc with both screen reader programs and until
I stop it from loading at startup, have no speech so have to memorize how to
get it out of there.
Is this a hopeless problem?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Betsy

SWITCHING SOUND DEVICES ON SKYPE

2006-06-22 Thread André van Deventer
Hi all

Wonder if someone can help me with this problem.

I have an Olympia Skype dual phone which works wonderfully as it is both a
Skype and landline phone.

However, I have a severe hearing loss and I have an FM transmitter connected
to the output of the soundcard on the computer.

When using Skype, I want to use the cordless phone as a microphone and the
soundcard output for the audio. Unfortunatelly, Skype automatically uses
the dual phone for both output and input. This means that if someone calls
me, I have to tell them to hold on a moment so that I can change the sound
devices output to go through the soundcard. Although this does not by any
means make skype unuseful to me, it gets annoying to ask people to hold on
every time!

And skype refuses to accept my configuration for this and changes it back to
the dual phone for output every time.

Now after all these ramblings, finally my question: Is there a way to tell
Skype to not keep changing my output sound device every time?

Regards

Andre

Re: Audio HQ doesn't work anymore

2006-06-22 Thread Doc
Have you tried entering audio hq via control pannal? also you don't have to
do your install from the startup screen when you put the disk in. go to
windows explorer, open the cd
open the audio folder
open english
You may see a winXP folder
look for settings
once the settings wizard starts you will get the usual screens
One will look odd and appear as numbers.
tab to the second option and press enter
this usually sets you in custom mode
here you can determine what is installed.

Winamp 5.24 New Scripts

2006-06-22 Thread Dana S. Leslie
With the new scripts installed, I've managed to negotiate the Bookmarks and
AOL with XM branches of the Library treeview. (I haven't yet attempted the
other branches.) But, in the AOL with XM branch, there seem to be only 21 of
the XM streams available. Is this a limitation of the free version; does one
get access to more of the XM streams in the paid version?

 Hello,

A couple months ago I installed an SBLive Value card in a 1.1 GHZ computer
running windows XP home and JFW 7.0. At the time of install, the Audio HQ
worked fine. I've had a lot going on so hadn't played with it again since
early April, but when I finally got around to that last night, it wouldn't
work. When I click on it in the start menu I get the program open sound
 but
find myself on the start button with no audio HQ. I can't imagine what
 the
problem is. This machine also has Window-eyes on it and had no luck using
it either. I dread doing a reinstall if necessary because that is so
 tricky
with speech, but will do whatever would fix the problem.

The Creative launcher plays havoc with both screen reader programs and
 until
I stop it from loading at startup, have no speech so have to memorize how
 to
 get it out of there.
 Is this a hopeless problem?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Winamp Version 5.24 is now Available

2006-06-22 Thread Home Sweet Home
something about the new winamp as of 5.23 annoys me terribly!
and that is that .wav filetype doesn't appear when all supported files is
selected as files of type. one now has to choose select 'all files for wave
files to show! and even so, the next time you add a file or open one, that
'aall files; option doesn't stick! I use winamp on the air sometimes and
this annoying problem has resulted in two too many crashes. can this be
fixed? ior is .wav no longer a winamp supported file? I must hasten to add,
that wave does appear among the filetypes in winamp preferences.

2006-06-22 Thread Jorge Mojica

I haven't been too into much tech goings ons.
But when i come back from stand by winamp is always closed.
Is anyone else having this prob?
doesn't matter if the file is paused or stopped. I winamp is open, i go to
stand by, come back and it's not running anymore.
this is a new comp so I haven't run an older version of winamp. but i'll do
that later and see what i see.
