The registration requires typing in of a security code, and that security code is not accessible with speech access as they display it in graphics. The only way to get signed up with the service is to have a sighted person look at the screen and give you the security code. That means that a blind user is basicly excluded from even registering without the help of a sighted person. Hello, Yes, I usually use Winamp, but just tried the Windows Media Player and still the same. I have tried headphones and they have the same simularity. If I go down to 3 or so on the balance scale, the sound is almost what a person would expect the 50 percent to be. WellIf that is what it is going to have to be, then will go on having it that way. Morey, One last thought - Wonder if there could be a defect in your sound card's circuitry. It would be interesting to see if you get the same imbalance with another card. Re: Professional Broadcast Headset
Sony makes a good set with a microphone and a headset that is split so that you can hear yourself in one ear and the connection is split off so that a producer can speak to you in the other ear. Re: Talking On radio
The very best thing you can do is learn how to put everything together on your own server as it were, and then when you do your audition for a station, you'll have everything all put together. You don't have to do it this way but I've found that it's best to have everything all in a row. How I do it is different than others do it, but I use the what you hear option of my sound card, and that allows me to talk over the music and with keystrokes from within Winamp I can very easily control the volume of the music. Others use the line recording plugin, which doesn't allow you to talk over the top of the music but still gives you a reasonably professional sound. Yet another option is to use a mixer board. I don't have a lot of experience with them, but others have so they can comment further. As for a station, that's up to you. You can either join one, or just do it on your own. If you're only broadcasting for a couple hours a week, I can't see anyone coming after you and making you pay out the nose. At 11:04 PM 8/30/2006, you wrote: Hello list! Now that I have figured out how to broadcast and use servers and plug-ins somewhat, I want to do some talking on air. I know some people do it using Winamp and other programs (Otsdj and Sam Broadcaster or Station Playlist). I want to do it live. Where do I go. I hear Mike Smith and Wayne and the other guys do it on interactive. They sound so clear and good. Give me some tutorial resources that I can go to learn it step-by-step. Re: Professional Broadcast Headset
I heard headphone mixers existed, not sure how expensive though. I heard of those on a disability website, where you plug the headphones in and then 2 other sources and have them one on each side. Some of the info on there is outdated, so not sure if they're still manufactured. That would require no modifying at all for those that aren't good at that sort of thing. - Original Message - From: Bob Seed [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 6:16 PM Subject: Re: Professional Broadcast Headset Most off the shelf headsets with a microphone can be modified to use one of the sides as a cue channel.
