Re: sam3?

2007-01-02 Thread Dane Trethowan
I haven't used it for a while but I'm about to start using it again
shortly so I may be able to help you very soon if no one else has
come to the party but I will tell you what I do know about the product.
Its a bit fiddly at best and not the most accessible broadcasting
package about the place which is most unfortunate as it has some very
nice features indeed!
As for streaming over the Internet? sAM broadcaster has all that
functionality built-in to it, you can even have SAM create a HTML
interface for your music library and put this on-line so that
visitors to your web site etc can make requests automatically of your
playlists etc.

I know you're *trying* to be clever, but I believe it was a year or so ago
someone on this list advertised this great new free recording program
written wpecifically for the blind. A bunch of people downloaded and ran
the program, and it turned out to be a macro that did a lot of damage to a
lot of computers. It wasn't a virus as such, but many people believed it
was. It was certainly malicious and I can understand people's concerns
about something that sounds a little too good to be true.

 Hi everyone,

I have created an audio sequencer which is operated by audio
feedback and shortcuts on your PC keyboard, for example you press N
for new file, or press I to insert and audio file.

The application allows you to sequence up to 8 wav audio files
concurrently. This version is a working prototype and for now it
will only allow you to use wav files. The eventual goal is to make a
fully functional midi sequencer which will include more format
capability such as MP3. Please visit my site, the link is below for
more information. I have a help file which explains to application
and a list which contains the keyboard shortcuts used in the
 sequencer on my site aswell.

If anyone on the list has any interest in this type of software, i
would be very grateful if you could give me your thoughts and
opinions on this software, i can start to design my next project
taking your opinions on board. Please feel free to pass on my
website to anyone else you know who may use it.

 Cheers.

RE: Macks and speech access.

2007-01-02 Thread Kelly Ford
Assuming this person is using a newer Macintosh, they'd use VoiceOver, which
is the built-in screen reader on the Mac.

There are some good resources and mailing lists off of
http://www.macvisionaries.com.

Subject: Macks and speech access.

Hi Folks:

I am working with a client who has recently lost most of his vision and who
would like to continue using a Mack with speech access.

Is there anyone here who can provide me with information concerning the Mack
and speech access?

I personally have never used a Mack so I'm feeling pretty out of it.

Thanks all over the place gang.

Re: Creative Soundblaster 24 bit External Soundcard UsingtheOpticalConnection

2007-01-02 Thread Stephen Green
sorry Andy

but my amp wasn't cheap, to me at least. It's a sony audio video amp which
is now discontinued, but sony still produce amps with an optical
input/output, but they are over £300.

however the sony sales are on at the moment so you may get a bit off that
price. sorry I can't help on how to change the soundblaster from an output
to an input, but why not email their technical support for a step by step
guide?

regards

steve green.

 Hi again Steve.

Which amp do you have? I'm thinking of getting a new amp for another room
and it must have an optical in or in/out, so I can transfer AD movies from
my computer into the system in the second room. I've been asking around
 and
I believe that only very expensive amps have optical connections, but I'd
love it if you where to prove me wrong.

 Thanks again.

 Best wishes.

 Hi Andy

my son used the optical socket on the front of the soundblaster last week
 to
give me a connection to my amplifier.

It was as easy as plugging the cable into the front and plugging the
 other
end into the amp, and there it was.

 good luck

 Hi all.

I'm using XP Home Edition with JAWS version 6.

Can anyone give me any advice regarding the Optic Cable connection, on
 the
above card, and how to best use this please.

Any advice would be very welcome as I am unable to read the instruction
 leaflet.

 Thanks.

 Best wishes.

2007-01-02 Thread Sunshine
why, not just set the sound card to line in and then run a chord to the
line in on the amp then to the sound card. meanning take the line out source
and then put it into the computer via the line in?

AverMedia USB Radio

2007-01-02 Thread Jani Kinnunen
Hi,

I've got an USB FM radio called AverMedia USB Radio and I'd like to use it
to record my favorite radio programs, but the software that comes with it,
as I feared, is inaccessible with JAWS except the channel tuning wizard that
pops up the first time the software is started. So, I'm wondering if
there're any other programs supporting this USB radio model that I could
use. Does someone know of such programs?

Jani
