Re: Amazon MP3 download service now available

2007-09-30 Thread Jim Fettgather
I experienced trouble downloading an album using the Amazon downloader.
The Internet Explorer information bar came up when i clicked on the choice
to download the album.
I accessed the information bar menu and chose download file.
That was the only choice that made sense.
However, all of a sudden I received a message thanking me for my purchase,
except I hadn't downloaded any music yet.
I couldn't figure out a way to download the same album again, when I tried,
I got a message suggesting that I have already purchased this album.
I remembered that each account has a media library.
I didn't think this would work, but I went to the media library associated
with my account, and sure enough, all of the tracks from the album were
there.
I had to download them one at a time, but that was fine, at least I have the
album.
I'm not sure exactly what, if anything, I did incorrectly with the internet
explorer information bar.
However, if I have any problems downloading any future albums, at least I
know that they are stored in the Amazon media library.

Demo copies of Nero Cd/DVD burning suites of programs can be downloaded at:

http://www.nero.com/eng/Downloads.html

Many find Nero 6 has better access than version 7, though I don't know what
the position is regarding JFW scrips. They are launching version
8 just now and I've heard no comments as yet as to its accessability
friendliness. (Nero do seem to break accessability in upgrades, so be
careful.)

The one thing I didn't like about amazon is this:
They don't seem to have any way to search by artist. I did a search for the
turtles and got over 1000 entries most of which were things like turtle
island and the turtle that could fly, etc.
Emusic does the same thing, but you don't get so many useless links.
Also, I think that emusic is cheaper per single.
The only bad thing about emusic is that if you use their new download
manager, it has spyware build ingrin.

Hi. I have successfully used this service with Jaws and IE7 and
absolutely love it! Did you install the required Amazon Downloader?
In order to download albums, you need this helper application, which
by the way is accessible. If you download individual songs, you don't
need the downloader, but you do if you want to download albums. Also,
could it be that your firewall or browser security settings are
keeping it from downloading? Please let me know if there is anything
else I can do to help.
I plan to write up a mini tutorial on this service this evening. I
think it is absolutely wonderful, as there is no DRM, and you can play
the tracks on any player you want and burn them to a CD too.

you are correct. I could use any of the editors like Audasity. I think the
noise

You could do your edditing in Audacity.

Samuel, if you don't mind spending a bit more, DC6 offers 4 levels of
dedicated hiss removal and always lets you preview the results before you
save them. Even after you save your results, you still have the original
file and can go back to it if you change your mind. You can also create your
own hiss removal filters within the program.

If memory serves, the price of DC 6 lives somewhere in the middle between
the cost of GoldWave and the full version of Sound Forge.

to burn an audible book is with Nero. I did look at Nero 7, but aside from
its ability to burn Audible books, I don't see what it can do for me that 6
can't. I burn CDs only, and if 7 produces a superior CD, I can't see how. I
also can't see purchasing 7 when 8 is just around the corner. Guess we'll

To the web site of the manufacturer of your motherboard. It would
also help immensely if you had its model number. Then you could
download anything specifically related to your machine.

RE: Nero 8?

2007-09-30 Thread albert griffith
One good thing about 8 is it will have a disk copy button put in your
systems tray so you can copy disks after you've configured it once. Quite
handy if you do much of that sort of thing.

RE: Other accessible audio books

2007-09-30 Thread albert griffith
No spyware or virus detection program worth its salt should go silently
while the EMusic download manager or Microsoft's update update programs
installations are attempted because they each use some version of active X
which may be harmful. If you think that warning means, don't install,
you're going to miss out on many good updates and otherwise good pieces of
software. It's just an alert so you don't download something dangerous.

Hi. I was thinking of subscribing to emusic, especially for the books.
However, they want you to use their new download program to get the books.
Here's the problem I saw.
I tried to download the program, but my virus program would not allow it.
Seems the program contains spyware.
Or some kind of malware that nod32 didn't like.
Do you really want to knowingly put spyware on your machine?

Emusic.com has just started offering audio books in the .mp3 format.
They pretty much duplicate some of the Audible.com offerings, but they are
not tied to any proprietary scheme. They run around $10 per book with a few
being $20. You purchase a monthly subscription.

In this case, you should be able to use any burning program that works with
your screen reader.

Re: Getting track titles from CD when ripping to MP3

2007-09-30 Thread Kelly Pierce
One of the benefits of using a stand alone CD ripper such as CDEX or Exact
Audio Copy is that these programs are highly configurable. Both programs
allow you take the CDDB information about the disc and have it displayed in
many different ways, depending upon user preferences. Often, mass market
all-in-one offerings that do a number of tasks, such as Windows Media
player, may not do all of them well. Win Media can play audio files, rip
CD's, and burn CD's and do it less accessibly with fewer options than
Winamp, EAC and Nero.

I can use MS Media Player 10, or Audition 1.5.
Currently, I get only track and the number, with nothing in the

Re: Burning Audible Books to CD

2007-09-30 Thread Larry N
Hi, actually it's my understanding that they don't have a trial version
available as yet. If you want to purchase the program at the reduced price,
you would be doing so in advance of release, and with no demo to try before
you buy. That's why I would hesitate. There's no guarantee that I would be
able to use the program once purchased. Probably, but not definitely. I've
been burned often enough to hesitate, ya know?

 from
its ability to burn Audible books, I don't see what it can do for me that
 6
can't. I burn CDs only, and if 7 produces a superior CD, I can't see how.
 I

Actually, that's not true. Nero seven was not very accessible in the
beginning, but after a few versions, it was quite accessible.
 Don't know about nero eight.

Hi Albert! I heard that starting with Nero 7, the Nero program wasn't as
accessible, but not sure about Nero 8.

Nero is promoting their release of version 8 with a special offer good
 until
the end of this month. Has anyone tried it and is it accessible?

 Hi,

How can I get JAWS to tell me how much time has elapsed/is remaining in a
 file in Winamp?

Itunes?

2007-09-30 Thread Terra Syslo
Does anyone use Itunes and the scripts from T and T Consulting? I downloaded
them and am trying to use them with JFW 5, but nothing in the manual seems
to be working right for me. I go through and assign the colors, and then
when I try to go to the music store and sign in I can't get signed in. Does
anyone have any suggestions? I am using 7.4 of the Itunes program.

Re: Time elapsed in Winamp

2007-09-30 Thread Steve Pattison
If you press Control J while the file is playing you will get
information about how far through the file you are. This is a Winamp
feature and will therefore work with all screen readers.
