Nero and something called "Directdraw Acceleration"

2008-08-10 Thread TheLearningCenter
Hello List!

When I installed Nero8 on my Vista Systems and try to play a CD or MP3 file, I
get a message that says "The program requires Directdraw Acceleration, which is
not installed or available on your system. Please enable it in DirectX
Display." What is this and how do I enable it. I have downloaded and
installed the latest DirectX on my vista system; however, I got the same
message. I have since switched my default player away from Nero and back to
Real Player 11, which I prefer, but I just wanted to test the Nero player.
This message does not seem to restrict any of the functions of the Nero
programs, but I am not sure; there is a checkbox to tell Nero not to mention
this message anymore. Does this have anything to do with the way Nero plays
things. I did get a rough music or soundcard play for a while, but it
eventually cleared up or set itself properly and now plays well, except for the
DirectDraw Thing and it plays well once you press OK. I don't use Nero's
player, but I would like to know in this area.

Great, Thanks for that info. I'm happy at least all the music is now the
same level. Was getting tired of turning the stream volume up and down all

I could never figure out the error thing but I thik what happens is that MP3
gain find badly encoded material..

Also, Maybe some encoded with a veryible bit rate.

Glad thinkgs worked out...KG

It appeared to work. I might try it above 89db as I'd like the music to be
a bit louder. Also I had 86 errors but the report wasn't specific as to
what was wrong. I read through the help but it's not got a huge amount of
info in it.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Here is a la little more help for you:

To permanently remove clipping and keep volume differences between each
track on an album:
Open MP3 Gain,
(tick): Options\Each Folder Is Album
(tick)Options\Advanced\Enable Maximizing Features

Then do an Album/Track Analyze,
If Any Mp3 file in Mp3gain has a "Y" (yes) under the clipping bar then, Go
to the "modify gain" menu, "Apply max no clip gain for album".

If you only want to modify files with clipping and don't care about keeping
volume differences between each track on an album you "Apply max no clip
gain for each file" instead of "Apply max no clip gain for album".

And that's it, now your files have no clipping distortion.

What do you do if you want all your MP3's to have the same volume
irrespective of the source album?
To get all your files to have the same loudness,

Do a Track Analysis,

In the, Target "Normal" Volume Field choose the Volume all your selected
files will have (default 89dB is recommended),

Then do a Track gain.

If you would like your Mp3 files to be as close to your Target "Normal"
Volume as possible while maintaining volume differences between each file on
an album you simply
Do a Album Analysis instead of a Track Analysis & a Album gain instead of a
Track Gain.

And if any file still has clipping you should lower the Target "Normal"
Volume value.

B.TW This is Basically answered in the Mp3Gain Help file. If you are unsure
of anything else you should probably refer to it first.

You can use adobe 1.5 or 2.0 to convert a batch of files you will find batch
file under the file menu. It is pretty easy. You can also convert a large

replay_av suggesting listing

2008-08-10 Thread Billy Lee Riley
If you are familiar with replay_av I would appreciate your help. I love
Replay-av which I have just purchased, but I am still learning. My question
pertains to suggesting a tv show to be added to the media guide. Specifically,
I want to suggest a magazine tv show from the web site,
http://intheirboots.com. I do not know where to find the information needed to
complete the suggestion form in the media guide. I do not know how to find the
tags, bit rate, format, url of the show etc

I realize that this question is probably elemental for many of you. I would be
very appreciative if someone could help me get started, point me in the right
direction or tell me something I could read to learn how to proceed.
Thanks in advance for any help you might give.

Basic operation. Once I've added all the tracks do I do track analysis?
Then do I modify all the tracks from some results I'll get back?

Olympic tips (For Richard and others)

2008-08-10 Thread Petro T. Giannakopoulos
You can use any zip code as long as its a valid one. Pick the type of provider
and you are on your way. They have links to live and on demand videos you can
watch but quite a bit with no commentary. You connect nothing to your computer
in order to get the videos. You access their servers to get the videos.
Try 30345 for Georgia.

Take your pick, everything from Nero to Easy CD DA Extractor, what

Playlist of wav convert to mp3

2008-08-10 Thread Peter Scanlon
Some time ago I asked aquestion here about this. Got an answer and saved it for
future ref, now can't find it.

My question was if there was a program that could take a playlist file of.wav
files and convert them as a batch to mp3?
