I use a combination of Clone CD and Any DVD. Both are
available from Slysoft.com. You can make an exact copy of
any CD either audio or data and the same for any DVD. I
also use Nero 7 to do most custome burning here. Works just
fine and I've heard that newer versions of Nero aren't as
accessible or easy to use so I'm sticking with what works

Hope this helps.

2009-01-05 Thread Quinten Pendle
Hi all

I actually like this new MaPlEr.
The only major enhancement I would like to see (the thing that will convince
me to buy the program), is the ability to scrole through the playlist using
the arrow keys, where as currently when you arrow down, the next track
starts to play immediately.

All the best

Hi Anders,
Yes, I had a look to Foobar2000. Its a good one, but there are some things
in MaPlEr you may wanna notice: You can play a whole folder from the windows
explorer by just selecting Play with MaPlEr from the file menu. You can
pause and resume the playback from everywhere in windows by using the pause
key. You can play an audiolink from the internet without downloading it
first. The userinterface seems to be more usuable to me. And, yes, it's not
free, but the price is only 7,00 Euro, not too much, I think. You can try
the program, but you'll hear a message every 90 seconds in the demo version.

Best regards

Re: best software for copying dvd's

2009-01-05 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Although I have never used either clone DVD or
AnyDvd, I have had wonderful success copying commercially
produced Dvds with a shareware program called DvdFab. In
fact, I have thus far found only one Dvd that the program
would not copy. And the truly amazing thing is that the
uncopyable Dvd was an old Tv sitcom, which I believe was
Andy Griffith. One would think that if the program had
problems copying, it would be with newer releases. But for
me, that has not proved to be the case.

DvdFab is not accessible other than for copying entire Dvds.
That is, the program has facilities for splitting, editing
and changing the video type. But I could not figure out how
to do so using Window Eyes 7.0 or Jaws 9.0.

Hi Angel,

You shouldn't have anywhere near 240 files, even if you downloaded all
of the language options.

I suggest that you download an installation file from
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/?q=download

The latest release version is 1.51, which has been around for quite some
time. The latest beta is 1.70 (Beta 2) which has also been
around for a long time, so it would appear that work on this program has
stopped.

If, when you first try to run it, you get an error, you might also need
to install some ASPI drivers for Windows XP. There is
information on the download page about this. I don't know if the
program runs with Vista.

I have been using the beta version with Windows XP Home for some time
without any problems.

It has the ability to create playlists in many formats, has a tabbed
interface so I can have my most frequently used playlists open at the same
time, not sure about a sleep timer, but 3rd party apps are available that
interface with it and tell it to stop at a specified time. It burns CD's,
has Last.FM support, a fantastic music library function, and hotkeys can be
set for literally every function of it. It also has a fantastic crossfader,
silence reducer, and ordering playlists is as easy as pressing 1 keyboard
control. Need I go on? I could sit here all day listing everything it does,

Hello James,
Never tried Foobar before. Does it have the ability to create playlists,
sleeptimer and so on?

Best regards
Marco

I use Foobar2000, its free, and if I add the SoundTouch plug-in, I
have all the pitch, tempo and rate features that MaPlEr offers.

I use winamp for listening to streams, making playlists and ripping.
Does this program have a ripper? If not is there a reason to move from
 Winamp to this one.?

 Hello to all,
Just want to answer to questions for everyone:
The price of MaPlEr is 7,00 Euro. This is around $10 US.
The 700,00 Euro in our Audio presentation was just a joke. ;-)

I'm blind myself and tried to do my best to make MaPlEr as
 userfriendly as possible.

Have a nice time and best regards

 Marco (Mar-Dy-Team)
 Sean:

It already is user-friendly to Blind folks.

 Cheers.

 Hello to all,
I think some of you may be interested in the following information:
We, the Mar-Dy-Team, have created a new program, a mixture between
 Media player and playlistgenerator.
 This program is called MaPlEr.
We have created it, because we are not happy about the usage of
Windows Mediaplayer, and, as versions grow, the usage of Winamp too.
So we tried to create a program, which can play the most popular
sound
files, has the ability to create and modify playlists, and has such
features like adjusting the pitch, without changing the tempo and
vice
versa, adjusting the volume of music, without changing the volume of
 the screenreader, and so on.

The link to our homepage is:
 www.mar-dy.com
Here you can find more information about all the features,
download MaPlEr and listen to an audio presentation which
 we did on BCT (www.blindcooltech.com).

We would be very interested in feedback. What do you think of the
program? Is it useful for you, what features would you like in future
 versions.

And if you want to discuss with other users of MaPlEr, or just
want to be informed of updates and so on, just send an empty email to
 mardysoftware-subscr...@as-2.de
to subscribe to our software mailing list.

Best regards to all of you
 Marco Steinebach (Germany)
 (Mar-dy-Team)

At the moment, the Stream supports more file formats than does the
Plextalk. That may well change. The stream also has a longer battery
life. I don't know if the Plextalk can support play lists and so on. If
it can't, I've no doubt it will at some point in the future.

1. I can add the ability to play an entire folder in Foobar from Windows
Explorer, fare enough its complicated to do, but works great once I've done it.
2. I can stream files off the net using Foobar. I just add the link to my
playlist.
3. I have a multimedia keyboard, so I have a pause key that works with Foobar,
plus, notice the option in the keyboard section of the Foobar preferences,
Global Hotkey. If I check that box, a keyboard shortcut, say for pausing,
Playing etc will work anywhere in Windows.

Hi Anders,
Yes, I had a look to Foobar2000. Its a good one, but there are some
things in MaPlEr you may wanna notice:
You can play a whole folder from the windows explorer by just
selecting Play with MaPlEr from the file menu.
You can pause and resume the playback from everywhere in windows by
using the pause key.
You can play an audiolink from the internet without downloading it
first.
The userinterface seems to be more usuable to me.
And, yes, it's not free, but the price is only 7,00 Euro, not too
much, I think. You can try the program, but you'll hear a message
every 90 seconds in the demo version.

Best regards

I haven't encountered this file extension myself, but a quick trip to
Google.com lead to http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/wv where it says:

File Type WavPack Audio File Category
Audio Files Common?
No File Description
Audio file compressed using WavPack Hybrid Lossless Compression; because
WavPack files use

lossless
compression, they do not lose any quality from the original version; the
compression ratio is typically between 30% and 70%.

WavPack compression supports mono, stereo, and multichannel audio; it is
compatible with most PCM audio formats including 8, 16, 24, and 32-bit
recordings,
and supports sampling rates from 6 to 192 kHz. Program(s) that open wv
files

Mac OS
WavPack for Mac OS X
Cog Audio Player
Max Audio Format Converter
Windows
WavPack Win32
Foobar2000 Advanced Audio Player
VUPlayer Audio Player
Reaper Multitrack Audio Recorder and Editor
Adobe Audition with plugin
NullSoft Winamp with plugin
Steinberg WaveLab Audio Editor with plugin
Linux
WavPack for Linux
Aqualung
Audacious Media Player
XMMS with plugin

I just downloaded a bit torrent.
The files I received all seem to be in a packer format with a .wv
extension. What program do I need to open these?

Thanks.

Re: .wv files?

2009-01-05 Thread Steve Pattison
Hi Dana,

Yes, Winamp will play these files with the correct plug-in installed.
If you haven't found it yet the plug-in for Winamp can be found at
www.wavpack.com/downloads.html. Also lots of information about the
Wavpack format can be found on the Wavpack home page at www.wavpack.com.
I hope this helps.

Regards Steve.

I take it from this that Winamp will play these files directly, if one
has
installed the plug-in mentioned below; even as Winamp plays .flac files,
with the appropriate plug-in installed. Anybody know anything to the
contrary?

Is it possible to use the Streem FX plugin with Foobar 2000? This is a
surround sound processor I like a lot.
