KbPiano is a neat-looking little program that turns the computer keyboard
into a music keyboard. It has features allowing you to create chords,
blend
instruments, and record your creation. It looks like it should work, but
so

far I have not gotten any music out of it. I've used the Pass Key Through
feature of JAWS to ensure that JAWS isn't grabbing the keystrokes. Has
anybody tried this?

I wouldn't use it, personally. It breaks things, most noteably streaming
support, which isn't that great with said plugin. If you want something
that uses Mad, use Foobar2000 from www.foobar2000.org.

2009-02-05 Thread Dana S. Leslie

Steve,

I've not been able to load the URL you give below. Whether I use IE or
Firefox, any time I try to load any page at www.mars.org, the browser just
hangs and hangs, never fully loading the page. This was true all yesterday
evening/night, and is still true this morning; so I doubt the problem is
simply transient net congestion.

Is there anywhere else I can obtain the latest version of the MAD plug-in

2009-02-05 Thread Dana S. Leslie
A couple of years ago, I replaced my IMic with the Soundblaster Live!
External USB 24-bit soundcard, mainly because I wanted to have the what you
hear feature, which the IMic does not support. However, before that, I used
the IMic, very happily, for two or three years. I used it while digitizing
my old cassette collection, with Goldwave.

Sorry to hear it's become hard to obtain. It's an excellent little device,
for the price. Its only drawback is that it doesn't support what yu hear,

Nick,

I recently began to acquire a large number of MP3 audio files, in addition
to the AACPlus files I rip myself from my own CDs. I'm mostly concerned with
making the playback of these mp3 files sound as good as possible, rather
than with playing streams; and I really don't want to have to learn to use a
new player, in addition to the Winamp I know and love.

But is there a particular stream you know of that has difficulty with the
MAD plug-in, just so I can test it, and see if I encounter the same or
similar problems?

Right now, I'm using MAD 0.14.2B, as I haven't yet found anything more
current.

Thank you.

Fwd: Adobe Audition 3 Script

2009-02-05 Thread Steve Pattison
From: Aaron Smith aa...@gwmicro.com
To: gw-script...@gwmicro.com

Greetings,

I've just posted the first version of a script for Adobe Audition 3.0.
After talking with the Audition developers, and with the addition of
scripting to Window-Eyes, we've been able to make Audition much more
accessible than before (seeing as how it wasn't really accessible at all
before). Now you can hear detailed information as you navigate the
Audition window. For example, when you press Alt-Page Up and Alt-Page
Down to traverse through the various panes, you'll hear the pane name.
Then you can tab through the various controls in that pane and have both
the control's name and value read to you.

If you have a copy of Adobe Audition 3.0, give this script a try, and
let me know how you do.

Re: extracting the audio from an mp4 video file

2009-02-05 Thread Christopher Chaltain

I just posted the following to another list:

Switch Sound file converter will do what you want. The FAQ on the
formats it supports, which includes a link to download the program, is
http://www.nch.com.au/switch/kb/747.html
. This is a 14 day trial for Switch+. After the 14 days, it still
works, but you don't get the features in the paid version any more.
Converting from MP4to WMA seems to be in the free version though.

I know this doesn't answer your question on Goldwave.

Yes I have used KBPiano for a few years. Now I can't comment on how well
it

will work with Jaws but I use it just fine with win-eyes. First make sure
you are in the main window of the program.
There is a music creator window but that window is not speech friendly so
you want to be in the untitled window. Lets now type control-p which will
put the program in practice mode. Press notes on the bottom of the
keyboard

and see if you hear sound. Press escape to cancel this window. If no sound
is heard lets press The letter p and that will bring up a patch list where
you select the instruments you'd like. This should at least get you
started

Dean but if you need more help Please drop me email and I'll help you.

KbPiano is a neat-looking little program that turns the computer keyboard

blend
instruments, and record your creation. It looks like it should work, but
so
far I have not gotten any music out of it. I've used the Pass Key Through
feature of JAWS to ensure that JAWS isn't grabbing the keystrokes. Has
anybody tried this?
