For Robert Logue

2009-08-12 Thread M BROWN
Thanks for your advice Robert. I have done what you indicated; namely creating
two separate files, and then bringing them together. However, this latter part
is where I have ran into a problem. The two files merge, and as a result, I
just get a constant tone in one ear piece. Another helpful member on a
different list has given me very precise instructions on how to achieve what I
am trying to do with a programme called Audacity. Again, my problems in
producing the audio file I am after is probably my lack of experience. In this
latter case, I am not sure how to move between tracks in order to select that
audio track in order to manipulate it in the way indicated. Furthermore, the
instructions tell me to pan one track to the left and the other to the right.
Only problem is, that within Audacity, I can find no menu item referring to pan
either left or right.
Thanks for your help Bob.

Re: configuring Direct TV DVR

2009-08-12 Thread Tim Grady
Just keep your phone line plugged in, go to the directv web sight and
make sure you can find in which location your DVR is, and the easiest
way to search for shows is to go to m.directv.com . Now, it is a
little more involved for setting the DVR up for on demand.

You shouldn't need sighted assistance, you aren't going to hurt
anything if you listen to the beginning of shows to determine what to
watch.

As far as I know you cannot view your recordings on your computer.
Do you have the older TiVo branded DirecTV box or the newer DirecTV
branded TiVo? The older TiVo's make sound beeps through tv speakers
while the newer DirecTV DVRs do not make this sound. I have the
older Tivo box from DirecTV. Most likely you will need sighted
assistance with watching your recordings your DVR has made for you.

Fideliphone

Fideliphone available from www.fideliphone.com is an accessible,
Internet telephony program mainly designed to allow a group of people to
broadcast on the Internet even if they are located in different
countries. You can hear a demonstration of Fideliphone on this week's
edition of Innovations broadcast on the Global voice at
www.theglobalvoice.info. Once you get to the home page select the
Program Gallery link and then select the link for Innovations.
Fideliphone is demonstrated in the latest edition dated 11 August.

Yeah, its pretty cool. If they get the official verian going with good
accessibility. It needs to be a bit more user friendly, not so much from a
blind point of view but general user.

To those who gave this info I thank you. This site is great and finally
found an easy way to listen to distant places. I just recieved a tiny
flash thing called Musica? which is a device that you insert into your
com and it brings up a number of stations 1300 to begin with and more is
added as you so wish. This little device cost me $20 bucks and it is no
where near the 5000 stations from Mike. It is this kind of info that
makes life better and saves everyone money and frustration.
