Re: Still Wanting To Know
I believe that if you select several files or all files in a folder and use the aplication key to pull up the windows context menu. Winamp should have a shortcut in that menu that says encue in winamp. If it does then select this. Your winamp should open up with all your files. In winamp, if you use control plus tab it will switch you from the main window to a playlist window and even the equalizer. If control tab does nothing then type alt + e and you should hear screen reader saying winamp playlist editor Once you are there you can do everything like I mentioned in the last message. Remember that you can always get back to the main window by using control plus tab to cycle around. hth bb - Original Message - From: Tom Kaufman tomca...@comcast.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, November 07, 2009 11:31 PM Subject: Re: Still Wanting To Know Hello Brett and list: Forgive me for really showing my ignorance here..but I've never created a playlist in Winamp! Using Skype 41 and JFW41 Scripts
Hello List! Finally, after along time of hesitation, I downloaded and installed Skype 41 (the latest). Needless to say, it looks and feels different to me. I looked at the info from dlee.org, but do not have a list of the many things to do to make this version of skype accessible. These things could help me get going with it: (1) How does one type chat? I use to be able to just highlight contact, go to menus, and click on chat with whomever. Now I don't see any chat feature. Maybe it is in the conversations tab, but how do I activate it? Answer: (2) How do I switch from one area to the other: Contacts to History to Chat, etc? Answer: (3) If possible, give me a list of the shortcuts used in the JFW4 scripts. I also have WindowEyes and System Access, so a shortcut list for those screen readers would be ok as well. Answer: (4) Any voice tutorials would be great as well. Answer: (5) If possible, give a step-by-step approach to installing skyperead and give the latest version or a direct download url to get it. Answer: (6) Would it still be recommended to re-install skype 38? Answer: I know this is a big order, but I would appreciate any help you can give me with this program. In Skype 38, I was kind of an expert, but in Skype 41, I seem to be kind of lost. I want using skype to be a breeze like before. Thanks very much. 2 Sound cards and JAWS
Hi all. I've just moved onto JAWS 11. In previous versions of JAWS and on XP Home computers, I have been able to put JAWS through the on-board sound card and speakers, whilst sending all other audio out to an external Soundblaster sound card. This was achieved by inserting a line of text in the JFW.ini file. I attempted to duplicate this method in JAWS 11 but unfortunately, it did not work. Anyone had a go at doing this yet? Very much welcome your advice if you know how to do this. Very best wishes. Andy. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

1. In the JAWS window, open the utilities menu. 2. Open the sound cards menu. 3. Choose your sound card and press enter. JAWS speech should now come through the chosen sound card. From the things you explained, it sounds to me that the cd isn't properly mixed, and there for, that is the reason why you can't hear all parts of the song how it is suppose to sound. To clarify that, try listening the same cd on differend sound systems and see if you get the same results. If the end results are the same than you can do a few of the things. First, if this is part of the songs which is just vocal parts singing, than you can make part of that song louder than the rest of it. But, if the vocal part is mixed in the same time with some other instruments, than probably you cant do much about it, since you will mess up all the song and you could end up having very distorted parts which you really don't want. - Original Message - From: Victoria Vaughan vrvaug...@mailzone.com To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, November 07, 2009 5:10 AM Subject: Another type of unequal sound On my CD of Pied Piper, by Chrispian St. Peters, the verses are much quieter than the chorus, which booms out. Ok. When you are in winamp and you press control tab, if the playlist window is open jaws will say playlist editor. If it says something else like equalizer just keep hitting control tab until jaws says winamp 5 point whatever. This means you are back in the main window of winamp. So if jaws said nothing then we need to make sure the playlist window is open so we can move back and forth between the main window and the playlist editor. Alt plus e, while in winamp will select and close the playlist editor. This is different than control tab which moves us between the two parts of winamp. Ok once you can confirm you've got the playlist window up. Lets make a new playlist. If you type control plus n while in the playlist editor winamp will start a new blank playlist. Now to add a folder use shift plus l or to add a file use letter l by itself. To check if your files are being loaded in to the blank playlist use your up and down arrow keys once you have some files added. See if you can make a playlist first. Then we'll move on. bb To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Gentlemen, Not to butt in, but I was not aware that one could create playlists, outside of the Media Library! I just followed your steps, Brett; now what -- in other words, how does one save the playlist? I had been under the impression that one needed the Media Library, to make all of this happen, but, I am quickly becoming aware that one does not and that since JAWS does not work very well, with the aforementioned Media Library, I guess, perhaps I can create playlists, to burn to disc, in some other client, without the problems, that come up, without the script improvements, that never happened? Like I said, not to butt in and get you off track, Tom, but I am interested, as well! Which version of winamp are you using? standard or Professional? I folowed your directions but there was no option for auto tag. I believe the easiest way is to put the files in to a new playlist, highlight all songs in the playlist, and I believe you can then do a right click and there should be a send-to submenu then under that will be autotagger. The method i use is this. When in winamp, bring up the playlist window, control n for new playlist, load files, go to to the top of the list with home, highlight everything with control shift end, then a right mouseclick with numpad asterisk. That's the way I do it and there is probably a few other ways as well. Good luck. hth bb To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Thanks, Robert and Brett and to Tom for asking, in the first place! I am not versed in I.D. tagging, even after a few years of working with Win Amp! Now I wonder if the Disc Writer plug in will allow me to crossfade a play list, without the media library? I hope I am not stretching the topic out of the ball park, for the PC audio list grin! Re: Still Wanting To Know
Well I don't really do a lot of burning of cd's. I mostly just play my music and some online streams. I use foobar 2000 for all of this. Anyway I love winamp and have for a long long time. As far as tagging songs I use foobar now but have used winamp to tag albums with only track numbers for names as an example. bb - Original Message - From: Mac Norins macata...@cox.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2009 10:13 PM Subject: Re: Still Wanting To Know What , pray tell, do you use, for the kind of things, that I am talking about doing/? - Original Message - From: Brett Boyer bboyer...@gmail.com To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2009 9:01 PM Subject: Re: Still Wanting To Know not sure about this one. Re: 2 Sound cards and JAWS
F.S. realised that that is the way most people like to operate so they provide a menu function for it. Use insert+J to go to the Jaws menu. Go down to utilities and in the utilities menu, you will find an entry for sound cards which will take you into a sub-menu that shows your sound cards plus an entry called Windows default sound device. The default device is whatever you have set as the default device in control panel|sounds|audio devices. Andy.
