Yes this is a problem in the UIA support provided by screen readers. If
you tell your screen reader not to use UIA support, Total Recorder
closes as normal.

1. Open wineyes.ini. This can be found in %appdata%\gw
micro\window-eyes\users\default. %appdata% is something you can type
into the run dialogue box. It should open either the roaming folder if
you are using Vista or 7 or application data in xp.

2. Look for the line EnableUIA=1.
3. Change it so it looks like this: EnableUIA=0.
4. Save the file.

Hi Chris.
What I found when I got there was a line that said
default=default
I edited the line and saved it.
When I rebooted the default line was put back by windoweyes.

It hasn't solved the problem.

It's probably a microsoft bug.

Hi Folks: I'm sure that some of you are tired of my posts concerning
Tapin Radio! But I really do want to somehow get this program to act as
it is supposed to act! So after talking with my computer tech (he figured
out that my task scheduler is indeed running) I decided to send Phil
another email; the following is his response; problem is: I think these
instructions are for either for Windows 7, or are for how a sighted person
would do this!  So if someone is willing to look at these instructions;
then tell me how someone with a screen reader (Jaws 12) can accomplish
this (you can write mme offlist at tomca...@comcast.net if you'd rather as
to not tie up this list) that would be much appreciated! The following is
Phil's response:

Hello Tom,

It's a Windows issue.

This is what I found.

This behavior can occur because the task scheduler is not set to Log
On as the Local System Account.

To fix this behavior follow these steps:

Right-click My Computer and from the drop down menu click Manage.
From the Services and Applications menu, click Services.
From the right scroll down menu, double-click Task Scheduler.
Click the Log On tab, select the Local System Account and Allow
Service to Interact with Desktop options, and then click Apply.
Click the General tab, click Start.

Let me know how it goes.

Re: total recorder

2011-09-04 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I have definitely had this problem. Although I am a user of Window-Eyes
7.5.1, I continue to have this problem even when using either NVDA or
JFW. I thought initially it was because I was using Total Recorder
professional 8.1. However, when I upgraded to 8.3, the problem has
persisted. So since it apparently is not screen reader specific, I am
at a loss to know the cause of the problem. Incidentally, this happens
not only on my Windows 7 64-bit system but also on XP home systems as well.
