Re: This new goldwave 5.67

2012-09-16 Thread Colin Howard
Greetings,

I believe the problem is not to do with GoldWave, but the way it interacts
with Windows7, so before complaining about the program's accessibility, you
need to be familiar with how windows7 controls work which, I understand, is
somewhat different as against XP Home.

I had a friend visit me with Windows7 on a laptop, I had before he arrived,
never even seen Windows7 in any shape or form but, with some judicious
experimentation was able successfully to set up and use GW V5.67 which then,
was also almost new for me. Yes, we had problems, for he was using Jaws V13
and the latest scripts for GoldWave, but we did manage to get it working.
However, we had to use his other XP laptop and GW V5.58 not because there
were difficulties in setting up Etc., but it turned out his Jaws had a
problem which meant the scripts could not perform correctly hence we
received misleading information and in some cases, no information at all
when we expected so to do. I am unaware if the problem, the nature of which
I cannot remember whilst writing, has been resolved, I will check up with my
friend and see.

Since then, I have accessed another Windows7 desktop machine and, though
having a little more understanding how Windows7 works, cannot say I am more
than slightly acquainted with the beast!!!

Greetings,

How about memory? Take a look at the fjile formats and storage options.
also, rather than keep installing and uninstalling, take a look at the setup
options. also, why not write to the author at:

chris2...@goldwave.com

but make sure you've checked manual, help, can give him clear details of
your o/s and GW details such as settings and the like. Chris is always most
helpful but will assume you've checked all the obvious places.

These are my first thoughts and the areas I would check.

Have you tried the same setup on another machine and what happens?

I tried it on a backup machine I've got, which has worse memory than this
one, and I don't get the errors. I have no clue what's causing these
problems.

can shows recorded in DVR be put onto a DVD disc?

2012-09-16 Thread joanne
My niece has a lot of shows recorded for me on her DVR and she plays them for
me when I'm home, since talking DVR's don't exist of course. But as I am away
right now and she's still recording, is there a way to put some of these onto a
disc so I could watch them on a DVD player? Thanks, and if so, what type of
cords are needed to do this?

2012-09-16 Thread HHamit Campos
H, it sounds like you might need some video capturing device. Unless you
can connect these things to a PC right to a PC threw USB and access those
files. Then you might have another problem,. Are they DRM protected. This is
why I want to use Windows Media Center. It's your DVR on your PC, and if you
have a lot of hard drives, you can store a lot. It's free, and you can make
DVDs of stuff. I have no real idea.

2012-09-16 Thread Brett Boyer
I don't think goldwave has changed anything that drastic in a long time. I
use windows7 and goldwave and have been for at least 2 years. I don't think
goldeave is the problem. Can you give a little more detail about what
exactly isn't working that used to work? Maybe it's a jfw thing or a windows
settings issue.

Would be happy to help if I had more information.
good luck

Hi,
Well, I bought this new computer using Windows 7. Now, that I installed
goldwave I found it is a new version, 5.6x. Any tutorials on this
version? I can't even find where to make particular settings or the volume
tab where I used to set up the ikind of recvording I used to do. I am
wondering if an older version such as 5.58 will work on a windows 7
computer, and if I can rool back to the older version.

Any tutorials out there for this so-called new version/
Thanks. Vinny

It works great and does the job without re-encoding. Great for putting
little bitty bits of audiobook together into chapters or discs.

Is there an acessible audio joiner where you tell it what audio files you
want it to join and it will do it for you? I have tried Format Factory to
combine files for about eight hours of audio and every time I have tried
it only gives me less than an hour and a half of audio.

 Thanks,
 Dean

Re: Extracting Audio From MP4 Files

2012-09-16 Thread Steve Matzura
It all depends on which conversion encoder you choose. If you want
things to come out in mono, you have to define an encoder to do that.
It's easy enough to do. Press the Configure button, then use the
dialog to add a new encoder configuration set up just the way you want
it--mono, choose your bit and sample rate, etc. Works great.

It's not on the Extractor interface. It's the encoder configuration
you set up for this purpose. I don't think there are any that come
with it that are specifically for converting to mono, but it's easy
enough to define one of your own. Takes about a minute and a half.

Subject: Extracting Audio From MP4 Files

While Goldwave can manipulate so-called Media Foundation M4A files,
what can handle, and extract video from, .MP4 files? MP4 is the new de
facto standard for distributing standard-definition TV content on
Usenet. It's almost as small as the former .AVI (DirectShow) format
(also referred to as DivX or XVid), from which Goldwave can extract
audio.

And while we're at it, what about .MKV files, the HD version of MP4's?
Anything good at extracting audio from those?

TIA for any assistance.
