Audacity 2.0.5
Audacity 2.0.5 has been released. One of the recent new features which is available if you’re using Windows Vista or later, is that using the WASAPI audio interface you can record the audio being sent to a playback device even if your sound card doesn’t support “Stereo Mix”. I've updated my guide to Audacity for Jaws users, and it's available here: http://goo.gl/Dzlt0Q Nearly all the guide is also applicable to users of NVDA and Window-Eyes. David. Routing in Sound Forge 10
I know this is possible, and I understand how to do it, I just don't know *what* to do. My problem is that in SF10, my eight-channel Mackie 820I shows up in the routing matrix with each channel appropriately enabled, and each channel assigned to route to its own identically numbered spot along the grid line. But what I'm getting when I record is only my first two channels, which, thankfully, are the left and right channels of my stereo microphone. But I want to record that microphone in mono, both capsules activated, and pan the 820I's pots to dead center. This does not work. No matter what I do, I cannot use those panners to reposition anything. So, my question is, what is the proper routing if I want to record from the main output from the 820, which is on channels 7 and 8, and suppress everything else? Is this version available for the portable application of Audacity? And, are you saying it will record one's microphone (speech( and screen reader speech at the same time when recording? Thank you. - Original Message - From: David Bailes To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 4:12 AM Subject: Audacity 2.0.5 Audacity 2.0.5 has been released. help needed with windows 8.1
Hi, does anyone no how to find the windows 8.1 update in the windows store? I type it in the search box but I only find apps related to it, not the actual update itself. It doesn't seem that the store is very accessible. Any ideas? RE: help needed with windows 8.1
Have you been running Windows up date? If not, you must do so right away. See, your PC must be completely up to date if you want to install Win 8.1. Once you've run Win update and updated your PC all the way, then and only then will you see it when you open the store. They explained this on Windows Weekly. Paul Thurrott did. That Paull, he's just too funny man. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Aidan Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 11:28 AM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: help needed with windows 8.1 Hi, does anyone no how to find the windows 8.1 update in the windows store? Screenreader audio in TeamViewer
What many of you may not know is that TeamViewer passes screenreader audio. However, I've found a case or two where, no matter what I do, no audio is passed. I've tried changing the TeamViewer settings, such that they are, on the remote side of the connection, but no screenreader audio can I get. I'm having the most trouble doing it on XP with a Realtek HD sound chip on the motherboard. In Windows 7, it works with no special configuration or setting required. I can even get it to work with the Soundmax software used with a Creative Labs Soundblaster card, I don't know which model it is, but it does work. Anyone have any thoughts on why the audio just won't pass through? To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Re: Audacity 2.0.5
Hi Petro, yes, there's a portable version available at: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/audacity_portable concerning recording a microphone and the audio going to a playback device, for example a screen reader. Audacity only helps you with recording the audio going to a playback device, in the absence of stereo mix. To record the microphone and a screen reader, you need to send to audio from the microphone to the playback device. There are a couple of ways of doing this. 1. Your sound card may be able to do this. If it can, all you need to do is unmute the microphone input for that playback device. In vista and later, on the playback devices page of the sound dialog, open the properties dialog of the playback device, go to the levels page, and you should find an appropriate, set of controls for the microphone input: a slider, a mute button, and a balance button. 2. If you have windows 7 or later, then the audio from the microphone can be sent to the playback device using software. The disadvantage of this method is that there's an annoying lag. To do this, on the recording devices page of the Sound dialog, open the properties dialog of the microphone, go to the listen page, and check the Listen to this device check box. Hi! I hope to have one of these later on today and I have to admit the time between now and later on today just can't go fast enough. This DAC will add the digital end to my Hi-Fi system I built to replace my computer speakers and it will play a significant part in the system, for example I'll be running digital links to components and computers wherever possible, naturally I'll be taking notes and will write a review on this DAC. http://www.encelstereo.com.au/collections/rotel/products/rotel-rdd-06-dac-black ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
