Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signature Headphones Review | StereoNET
Since these cans are under discussion I thought I'd go in search of a review and this is an interesting read. Those who know the B P7 cans - as I do - can look at some interesting comparisons between P7 and P9. Should you upgrade? Well in the end that decision is between both you and your bank manager but the review certainly puts forward some very compelling reasons as to why the Bowers and Wilkins P9 cans should be on a future shopping list. http://www.stereo.net.au/reviews/bowers-wilkins-p9-signature-headphones-review

RE: Bowers And Wilkins Speakers
Hi. I have a system upstairs and one downstairs. Down stairs are the B & W CM9 and they are big but great speakers. I was toying with the idea of upgrading to the CM10 but haven't done so thus far. My upstairs system has the B & W CM5 which are stand mount speakers and are really wonderful speakers. They don't have the solid bass that the CM9 do but very respectful nonetheless. I did though add the B & W C2 Subwoofer and that makes a world of a difference. It is hard to decide which is the better system because the set up is different. The speakers downstairs are 15 feet apart while the CM5s are 8 Feet apart. A friend though reckons that the system upstairs is much more superior in sound reproduction and thinks I should sell my downstairs system. At this point I'll keep both although if truth is told, the downstairs system has rarely been played and I'm not even sure the CM9s have been fully run in. After the CM series you are talking about the 800 series but then, you are also talking funny money. --- Begin Message --- I can sympathise. My wife and I replaced our system because she didn't like wires. We got something smaller. We have now gone back to a similar arrangement with BMW speakers because it sounds so good. I suppose that this to channel thing with voiceover in one and sound in the other could be useful if you're wearing a headset, taking a phone call and listening to the phone with one here and VoiceOver doing something with the other ear. I couldn't do that, but somebody probably good. Also for people who use mixers, of whom I am not one, I guess this could be useful. But for the use I wanted it for, it's useless. Re: IOS 10 And AirPlay
Yes, an excellent point regarding Bluetooth and the iPhone with Voiceover and having Voiceover play with your music is quite a pain, that’s one of the annoyances I had when I had the Apple TV 2nd Generation, Voiceover would announce each new track as it played and the only way I knew of to stop that happening was to go into the menu system, turn Voiceover off and hope I’d remember to turn Voiceover back on again when I’d finished playing my music. I didn’t think one could play to multi rooms or multiple devices using AirPlay on an iOS device? And whilst we’re on the subject of AirPlay, congratulations to Spotify as they’ve found a way around Apple’s reluctance to allow third party Apps to put the AirPlay Icon near the volume control where it used to be in Apps, there’s a “Button” at the bottom of the Spotify App which isn’t labeled. Double-tap on this and you’ll see a list of Spotify Connect devices if you have any but even more importantly you’ll see a “More Devices” icon, double-tap this and you’ll be presented with a list of AirPlay and Bluetooth devices Spotify can connect to. > On 5 Oct. 2016, at 2:32 am, Mary Ottenwrote: > > For anyone using an Apple device, there are some Stansel advantages to using > airplay. Re: Bowers And Wilkins Speakers
You have my deepest sympathy’s I can assure you . I’ll be going down to have a listen to a few Bowers And Wilkins floor standing models in a few days, the floor standing units I’m after range in price from around $1600 for the basic to $3500 for the top model though secretly I’m hoping the basic model will sound good enough for my ears and even that will take a bit of time to get. Floor standing speakers in my lounge are going to be put exactly where they were intended to be put, they will stand on the floor. The “Old Man” has his speakers in the ceiling believe it or not which is an eye opener to me - pardon the terrible pun - didn’t know that some people were born with ears on the top of their heads. > On 4 Oct. 2016, at 10:58 pm, John Gurdwrote: > > Hi Dane > Yes, I've had the following set up for about ten years. > B CWM8180 left right and centre speakers > B MT1 rear speakers > Linn Sizmik sub-woofer > > Sadly, all the above are now obsolete so it's not much help to you. Re: IOS 10 And AirPlay
For anyone using an Apple device, there are some Stansel advantages to using airplay. For one thing, VoiceOver stays on your device and doesn't interfere with the music. For another, you can have multiple rooms playing from one Mac. Of course you have to have airport expresses. But it still beats Bluetooth for sound as far as I'm concerned. And not having VoiceOver interfering with my music is a huge advantage. And it's also less laggy Bluetooth. I have to disagree with John on that one. Trying to use my android device when I'm playing music through my mega boom speakers is not fun. Plus, I have a stereo downstairs. If I were stuck using Bluetooth, my Mac wouldn't reach there. And if I left my eye device upstairs and went downstairs for something, I'd be out of luck if I wanted to use that downstairs stereo. Bluetooth won't go that far. Lol ah girls. Yes I hear this over and over again on home theater geeks. The Wife axeptency factor. Lol. So some boys sacrifice half of the story just to keep the wife happy. I don't know man. I can kinda see their point but come on now, you need true Dolby Atmos to get the full story. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of John Gurd Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2016 7:59 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List'Subject: RE: Bowers And Wilkins Speakers Hi Dane Yes, I've had the following set up for about ten years. Re: IOS 10 And AirPlay
Yes, you pretty much summed it up and I’ll get to that in a moment. I’ve not heard of the speaker you mentioned but I do know of something that sounds similar, the new Bowers And Wilkins Zeplin wireless which has Bluetooth and Airplay facilities as well as Spotify Connect. Unfortunately Bowers And Wilkins have seen fit not to give the Zeplin Air DLNA connectivity, perhaps the thinking at B is that DLNA isn’t as good as AirPlay. Now that Bluetooth AptX is in use widely I just don’t see a future for AirPlay and the “Lag” exhibited by AirPlay is perhaps the most telling point in this discussion, absolutely no good for wireless headphones for example. > On 4 Oct. 2016, at 5:37 pm, John Gurdwrote: > > I've got a speaker in my loft called a Stealth Air 2 which has both Airplay > and Bluetooth with a rather nifty little remote that lets you select either. > I use Bluetooth every time. RE: IOS 10 And AirPlay
I've got a speaker in my loft called a Stealth Air 2 which has both Airplay and Bluetooth with a rather nifty little remote that lets you select either. I use Bluetooth every time. Less laggy for one thing.
