Media players and audible.com books?

2006-08-20 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, besides using real player that supports audible book. com books are there
any other players that can be used? I tried windows media player, and winamp
but, it doesn't acknowledge the files due to the AA extension. The reason I
want to use something other than real player is so that I could adjust the
speed of the voice from fast to normal or slow like you can do with windows
media player. Any help is greatly appreciated. Andy.

Winamp book mark?

2005-10-21 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, when I place a book mark in an mp3 file, I of course use the alt-I and jaws
states that the bookmark is added. Now, how do I get to that book mark in the
future. What is the command? I am sorry for my ignorance but, I must be
looking in the wrong places for answers.

Larry Skutchan's recorder?

2005-10-18 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I just learned about the Blind Cool Tech site and is opening a whole new
learning experience for me. My question is that does anyone know Larry
Skutchan's e-mail so that I can ask him what recording device he is using to
record the sessions ? It sounds great and he must be using stereo. I am
looking for a great digital recorder for meetings and to do similar recordings
like that on Blind Cool Tech. Also I want to thank this list for my finding
the blind Cool tech site. I will be able to add some great recordings in the
future. It sounds like Larry has ample memory for recording which I
desperately need. Andy, Salem, MA.

WS 100 by Olympus..

2005-09-03 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I also have a question on the WS 100 by Olympus. I read the post from the
VIBUG and noticed that they will demo the ws 100. I know that they are easily
obtainable from Radio-Shack and Best Buy here in MAss. My question is how much
recording time can I get with standard record. It says that you can get 27
hours with LP but, I want to be able to record a bunch of notes and meetings.
I wish I could get at least 10 or 15 hours of continuous record. Is that
possible? Andy I am not up to par with the teck part of audio recording so
please let me know in simple terms on what I would need to do.

DS2 by olympus??

2005-05-07 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I just came back from Radio Shack and found that they have a Olympus DS2
that will record up to 22 hours. Does anyone know of this animal? I know that
there was a DS2000 but not available now. I could use 22 hours of recording
time. I am worried that the program to upload to the computer is not
accessible. Any suggestions? Andy.

Digital recorders olympus?

2005-02-14 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I am looking for a digital recorder that will record with a smart card or
better. I now have a sony, which sounds great but does not have the capability
to record more that about 15 minutes. I also need of course, the ability to
upload the record clips to my pc. So, the software must be somewhat
accessible. I talked to Jeff some time ago from I.RI.C in California and was
helpful, but I can't find him anywhere. Can someone give some recommendations?
Are there any Olympus ds 2000 or 2200 users that can give some feedback? Andy.

2004-10-03 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, can you record telephone interviews with total recorder? If so, how do you tell
the program to find the modem, or what am I looking for in the menu. I downloaded a
program called cal-corder and I am not sure yet if this will work for me, but having
total recorder and the registered version, I thought if I can do the interviews with
that then,. Please advise.

total recorder question

2004-07-11 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I use total recorder and works fine, but why would I be able to play back file
recorded with total recorder and work fine and others recorded also via the web only
play back what I typed. Some radio broadcasts such as Blumberg radio and wbix am
radio record and play back just as good as I recorded it. Other sites such as one
place. com which is ministry based radio shows and archives only give me things I
typed on the keyboard instead of the show itself. Could it be because one is live and
the other is archived? I just don't understand .

Re: More help with total recorder!!

2004-06-06 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, thank you for your reply. I am still having a problem with this Total
Recorder. I can't seem to get it to work. Do you know of a place I can
contact via phone so that they can hear my problem as I go through it?
If I check both, playback and record using total recorder, the program will
record. Now the problem is that when I record we'll say, Bloomberg radio,
my audigy sound card and keyboard locks up so that I can't hear anything
except the radio stream. I can't ctrl f4 to close either programs and let
me save the recorded stream.
Now, to be able to hear both the site the radio stream is on, and total
recorder and its menus, I need to have the sound blaster audigy option
checked in the total recorder program. This will not allow total recorder
to record. It says both total recorder needs to be checked for playback
and record It makes sense to me, but doesn';t work.
I have recorded tons of things with this program, but do remember that I
have these problems in the beginning. I just can't find how to solve it.
That is why if I can contact someone via phone that knows about this
program, they will hear what is going on and I will and they will be able to
find just that little thing that is the culprit.
I am truly sorry for asking for help with this problem again, but I really
need to use this. Andy.

Hi, in windows 98 se, under sounds, there's only one tab, not several
as seemed to be indicated, so, try going in to total recorder's
options, and under system tab, check both boxes that say use preferred
settings for playback and record, and then check the second of the two
radio buttons further down, this will make the total recorder driver
only run when total recorder runs, saving resources. There's an
excellent tutorial on total recorder, and the direct link to the file
 is
 http://www.acbradio.org/archives/mainmenu/mm0883.mp3
 hope this helps you.

More help with total recorder!!

2004-06-03 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
It's me again. I am straightened out with recording with Total recorder except for
one more thing. When I go to a recording session, I used to have my setting so that I
could be able to alt-tab or be able to type and hear jaws talk while recording and
or listening to aa broadcast of something via internet. Now, it seems that my
keyboard locks up, but it doesn't, it just won't let me multi task due to total
recorder taking over the sound board. I am using the audigy sound board. Can someone
help me with setting so that I can multi task? I hope I have explained it okay.
Thank you in advance.

Recording with Total Recorder..

2004-05-22 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I got Total Recorder and use it to record on-line radio, streaming audio ect.
What I did was selected recording with software. This works fine to record on-line,
but I need to record my cassettes to save to my hard drive. I would believe that I
would connect the recorder/tape player line out to the line in of my sound card. Now,
what do I select within Total Recorder's menu? Do I select hardware instead of
software?d

Converting tapes to computer?

Hi, can someone tell me the easiest way to convert my cassette tapes to digital so
that I can put them on cd? I am using Jaws 4.2. I know that I need to go to the line
out from the cassette recorder/player to the input of my audigy sound card but what
program should I use that is Jaws friendly? Thanks so much for your time you give me.
