Re: MP4 with jaws?

2004-05-06 Thread Andy Collins
Hi Gary -

Often wonder what .og files were - does this mean I could save loads of
space by having .og instead of MP3 files? and if so, how do I create them?

Hi Andy. There is also something called MP3 Pro, that's supposed to halve
the file size with no loss of quality, and of course, there's Og files.

Yes, I was wondering that, I had heard somewhere about new compression
 that
halves the file size, but keeps the original MP3 quality - think it
might
have been in connection with WM files. Maybe somebody knows more?

Winamp should play the book but you may need a plugin for mp4. I
 don't
know
if the new winamp supports mp4 without adding the mp4 plugin.

Burning data disks

2004-05-05 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

I can use Winamp and Windows Media Player 9 to burn MP3s in to .cda audio
CDs, but I'd also like to burn a bunch of MP3s as data files, on to a CD, to
play them in my PTR1. Are there any free programmes to do this?

Re: Will XP burn an MP3 to disk?

2004-05-01 Thread Andy Collins
Graham - thanks for the suggestion, I did as you said, but when doing CTRL V
to paste the MP3 to the CD-r, I got the message:
Unable to copy file or folder, the requested resource is in use.

I also looked on the file menu, but don't seem to have Write these files to
CD.

I'm using XP home, if that makes a difference. Would really appreciate any
more help you can give, I'm away for a week soon, and want to take some
music and books with me.

Andy, try this in Windows Xp for burning MP3 to a CD. Highlight the files
you want to copy. Copy them to the clipboard with CTRL-C. Put a blank CD
in your drive. Navigate to your drive with the blank CD in it. When
there,
press CTRL-V to paste the MP3 files into the drive. Screen reader should
tell you that the files are there, but you are not finished yet. Now
press
ALT-F and arrow down to Write these files to CD, or type T to get there
quicker. Press ENTER and the CD writing wizard will appear. Follow the
prompts, choosing to write a data disk, since you have MP3 files. That
has
always worked for me in XP.

Hi everyone,

I am beginning to learn about converting audio cd to mp3 format. I have the
following players: Windows Media Player version 9, Real One Player version
2, Winamp version 5, and Easy CD Creator version 6. I am using Windows Xp
Home with Jaws for Windows version 5. Can someone give me a step by step
instruction as to how to do it properly. Will I have to enter each
individual track, album, as well as artist and copyright information? I
noticed that Winamp and Real One Player gives me these type of information.
I am not certain of Windows Media Player.

I look forward to everyone's responses.

Will XP burn an MP3 to disk?

2004-04-29 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

Don't think I can do this, but would like clarification.

Usual thing, I want to burn an MP3 from my HD on to a CDR. Will XP allow me
to do this, I see it has a copy option in the file menu for my DVD/CDRW
drive, but am wondering if that's for copying standard audio disks. I have
Pinaccle DVD/CD creation software on this system, but can't get it to burn
for some reason, it just sits there, so was wondering if XP would do the
job?

Hi folks! I've been trying out the win DVD player, and I am about to have
to buy it or use something else, here soon. Why I don't mind buying it, I
don't want to have to pay 59 dollars, or whatever they charge for version
5.0, mainly because I don't need all of the features. My question is how
well does real player work with playing DVD's. Are there any hot keys, or
do I need to just bite the bullet, and purchase win DVD?
