Re: AirPlay Streaming From Your Windows PC
Wow! Now since I will be moving to mac full time isn't Airplay built into this operating system? Pretty sure it is as it's a feature of iTunes. If you want to get into the AirPlay game and want to stream your audio from your computer then there's a completely different - and probably more sensible - way to do it than the various ways discussed here thus far, we've talked about using software such as Virtual Speaker and Airfoil to capture the audio and to stream it using AirPlay over your Wi-Fi network. There's an even easier way to do it and that's using an AirPlay Dongle. The dongle looks like a sound card to Windows so any audio you want to stream by AirPlay? Just redirect it to the Dongle and there it is for your AirPlay compatible device to receive and for you to listen to. These audio Dongles are just the tip of the iceberg, there are video AirPlay dongles available to allow streaming from your computer to an AirPlay compatible display/TV or even an Aple TV connected to a standard TV. I'm just an average computer user, so I don't really mess around with my operating system's settings. The reason I'm trying to get Winamp to place a track directly below an already existing one, is because I'm in the process of trying to get a dj position with ACB Radio, and they use Winamp for broadcasting. Being able to insert tracks erlier in the playlist rather than at the bottom of it, is ecential, especially if people email me with requests. This way, I'll be able to play what they ask for in a more reasonable time frame without them having to wait through multiple songs. You can use iTunes Match with iTunes Radio, this service is very similar to spotify in the way it works. The basic iTunes Radio is supported by advertising and is free but if you subscribe to iTunes match the advertising goes away and you can search/play to your hearts content and purchase where appropriate, if you think your Match subscription is enough then just search for what you want and add it to a playlist for playing at your leisure. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org . In short oPlayer will play just about any media file type on the planet including all those high quality audio file types such as FLAC, these sound better than say MP3 or iTunes M4A because FLAC files - whilst slightly compressed - are Lossless, meaning that none of the quality in the recording is lost during encoding of the file - in other words if you hear a track from a CD encoded with FLAC then what you hear is exactly what you'd hear if you played the same track from the CD -. So back to the point of this eMail which is the oPlayer app, the app allows you to transfer files for playing in different ways, you can use your IOS device as a FTP client, Windows Sambre client and so on, the Professional version offers even more ways to transfer content including from your Dropbox account if you have 1. Does the iPhone 4s support Bluetooth 4.0. Not a big issue if not. Just curious! Chris On 24/06/2013 00:21, Dane Trethowan wrote: Are these speakers Bluetooth 4 compatible? So many aren't but the Braven 650 speaker system I mentioned is. Bluetooth 4.0 sounds far better than previous versions and later devices should be compatible with it, certainly iPhone 5, 2012 and later Macbook machines and Samsung Galaxy S3 and later are compatible, I'll be using a Bluetooth Speaker system with my Samsung Galaxy S3 so having something which is Bluetooth 4.0 compatible is important to me. For the size and the price of it, it's a great speaker. I've only ever found 1 good set of Bluetooth Speakers and that was the Bose Sound Link and the price was quite good for a Bose product at $330.00. I'm going to try the Braven 650 Bluetooth Speaker in a few weeks, thist unit also gets very good reviews and is Bluetooth 4.0 compatible. Subject line displays the grim reality, was working away here when there was a crackle and the smell of smoke rising from the sub-woofer of my Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra speaker system so that looks to be the end of those. I looked around for another pair but can't find them anywhere which is a shame as this system has been the best Computer speaker system I've owned. I then decided to do a little research, Google Is My Friend so I typed Best Computer Speakers in and found to my amazement a web page that lets you compare all sorts of atributes for computer speakers, size, wattage, controls, features and so on. From the little time I had to look at this page I found that the nearest competitor to the Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra speaker system seemed to be the Harman Kardon Sound Sticks, audio specs seem the same except that the Sound Sticks only have a low end of 44HZ instead of 40HZ for the Expressionist Ultra speaker system, nothing to worry about then in that area, both speakers have a top frequency of 20KHZ. The only other annoyance about the Sound sticks was that the controls were on the speakers themselves - volume was on 1 speaker and volume for the sub-woofer was on the woofer -, yes an annoyance but not a critical point, something that wouldn't turn me off buy this speaker setup. So has anyone had any experience with the Harman Kardon Sound Sticks and what do you think or perhaps you have another recommendation or - even better - perhaps you know of where I can get another Altec Lansing Expressionist Plus speaker system smile. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org -- -- Kieran Little email: kieran.little...@googlemail.com http://twitter.com/dj__k http://bavis.co.uk/the-kl-cast http://kieranlittle667.livejournal.com To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Hello all I have an update. Sound Taxi worked a treat. However the problem is I cannot seem to save it as just audio. I tried aac and it wouldnt play in my media player of choice, Winamp. I then tried Mp3 and it couldn't convert because, apparently, there was no data to convert. I'm like what gives, as it converted to Mp4 just fine. Bear in mind I'm using the trial so only got the first 3 minutes of the video. But at least it worked. Not sure if I'm going to purchase it though because of problems saving just the audio portion. Gary, just to say the help is very good but is very comprehensive which may not suit you and anyone else. But it does suit me. Anyway, putting that aside, do you have a boost setting in your microphone's volume. If so have a play with that and see how you get on. Glad you agree with me and although I won't take up on any of your Mp3 players, judging by the Tech Talk presentation you did months ago they all sound good and you certainly help those who just need a basic Mp3 player that talks. It claims to have an excellent TTS engine which will speak menu choices, folder names and titles. It is supposed to read textfiles, making it suitable for reading books. It has an FM radio. I was not able to hear even one FM station. I checked with a friend who just received his unit, and he could not hear any signals! The speech is about the worst I've in my 30 years of using computers. Both navigation and responses are at best uncertain. After one places a few MP 3 folders on the device, it quits responding, running the batteries down. It's easy to get it work again. Just remove the folders. It's available from the Braille Super Store. I suggest that you go to that site and search for the company's product return policy. Among the horrors you'll find in it is that no producted is warranted. One can never get money back in the event that a product is defective. I'm quite disappointed that such a product exists. I strongly suggest that you should consider not ordering it. I dislike writing negative comments. I do so now only because I don't want people to buy this device with no good recourse in the likely event that this product will not meet your expectations.
