Yes. Audacity can record in surround sound. I've never tried it, but here's a
link to a website that talks about it.

 Amie Slavin amie.sla...@ntlworld.com wrote:
Sound Forge 10 is multi-channel, and you can edit 5.1 surround with it.
 It's not multi-track though.
Also, I've just used it for a big job and it got all stressed and suddenly
mono-ised every one of the 6 channels in my edits, over and over again.
Created a shed load of work. I'm pretty disillusioned with it now.
Could I just use Audacity instead, guys, do you think?
 Thanks for any replies.

Re: multi track editers

2009-11-13 Thread Janelle Vacanti
There are two versions of Audacity you can download on that page. There is
1.2.6, which is the stable version and there is a 1.3.9 beata version, which
isn't stable and is available for testing. I think the beata version is more
accessible with JAWS. I used to use the stable release, but then started using
the beata versions.
If you want to download the beata version, go to this link.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_windows
Then just go to the heading that says Recommended Download and the first link
you should see after that heading is called Audacity 1.3.9 Installer.

Audacity can do more than two tracks.
When you press R to start recording, then press the spacebar to stop recording,
then press R again to start recording again, a second track will be created
once you press R the second time.
Same thing applies for the third and fourth tracks and so on.

These might help you do that. Here's a link to a website where there is an

 Hello Neal,

I am writing in the hope that you will consider doing a
 quick and dirty
podcast concerning the proper procedure to follow to make a
 daisy book from
existing mp3 or wav files, especially if recorded using
 Studio Recorder.

For some reason, I am having difficulty grasping the
 concepts in the BWP

I think that recording from existing audio files should not
 be combined with
the instructions pertaining to microphone recording.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this subject.

splitting podcasts

2009-08-11 Thread Janelle Vacanti
Hi,
Some of the podcasts that I am subscribed to in ITunes are split up into
separate tracks. This means that I am able to press either the left or the
right
part of the wheel on my IPod Nano 4th Generation to move to the next song or
the
previous song in the podcast. However, with other podcasts that I am subscribed
to, this is not possible. This Means that when I press the left part or the
right part of the wheel, the podcast stops playing and I have to press the
bottom part of the wheel to resume playback and the podcast didn't move
forwoard
at all. Also, when I press the left part of the wheel, the podcast goes back to
the beginning. I was wondering if there was a way
to split the file up by song so I could press either the left or the right part
of the wheel to move forward or backward through the podcast by song, but still
have the podcast be in one
file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Janelle
