 Hello,

If anyone else on this list downloads music from Usenet news
groups, I would be interested to know what program you are using,
especially now since Forte Agent in its present incarnation is
 only minimally accessible.

 Thanks for feedback.

I, too have the same trouble with the message window, making e-mail and text
newsgroups less friendly than Outlook Express, but I can get along with the
limitations and find the later Agent much better at combining usenet headers
than earlier versions.On Sat, 23 Sep 2006 19:29:06 -0400, you wrote:

quite gotten a handle on (no pun intended, JAWS script kiddies) is how
to make message windows read automatically. Otherwise, Agent's great!

And if you still want to use the old one (Version 1.93) and can't find
it, I can send it to you, or better yet, put it up on YouSendIt and
let everybody have a go at it. Just remember, the best feature of
Agent--the ability to combine multiple messages into a single large
file attachment--doesn't work until it's paid for.

note that downloading via http at high speed is potentially
troublesome if one has a Linksys router (which I do) because
files can become corrupted. This has not yet happened to me, but
I am concerned.

The last I knew, Agent could not handle Yenc encoding. Has this

Incidentally, I usually use Window Eyes 5.5 but also have a demo

Recently, I've noticed an increasing number of music CDs for sale that are
described as hybrid CDs. What does this designation mean: that they will
play in both CD and DVD players; or what?

It doesn't seem to be that they contain both CD audio, and DVD video
tracks
on the flip side: those seem to be designated dual CDs.

Definitive clarification will be appreciated. Thanks.

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 weirdness

2006-09-17 Thread Joe Sontag
As of yesterday, I now have one of these that will not be properly recognized
by the Windows98 box that it ran in, nor in another more advanced machine that
is configured to use a similar card. The 'add new hardware' program finds the
card, but describes it as a pci multimedia audio device and gives me the
usual options for installing the drivers, yet it cannot find the drivers
anywhere, even if I point the thing to the precise directory on the supplied cd
rom. I noticed there is just one small removable chip on the board. Could this
be a rom chip that contains the device id information and that decided to drop
dead? I'd appreciate knowing about any experiences that list members have had
with the manufacturer. It's a great product, but how's the support?

I've never found the what you hear option in the record properties of

As a result, I can't record from more than one source at a time.

I haven't found a stereo wide option either.

 Any ideas?

Subject: Best software to burn a cd

 Hi again!
To burn CDs I am using realplayer. But for that I need a subscription
and well that's kind of expensive and i'd like to get rid of it.
so, do you know any other software to burn a CD? like, take a mp3 or
ogg
files to put them on CDs?
I've never been able to work roxio out properly so if anyone knows of
something else that would not be that costly then I'm interested :)))

thanks alot for your kind answers

 AYMERIC

  Hi,
There are many great solutions out there we can use.
Nero burning rom from version 5.5 and on is one of the very best, but I
also like cd da extractor. Even the build in funktion i xp can be used
to
at least some extend. Some weeks ago on this list there was menchened a
special program for the blind whitch is very accessible and relativly
inexpensive, but I forgot the name of this program.

  Best regards
  Brian
