Best Device For Recording Singing/Instruments
What is the best accessible device for recording songs/instruments? My goal is to record a friend singing and playing his guitar, and then upload the recording to my computer. I have had horrible luck using the Olympus VN3100. Goldwave has helped a bit, but the quality continues to be unacceptable. Perhaps it is the model, but I'm wondering if digital recorders such as the VN3100 are better suited for simple voice recordings? Or, maybe I just need to invest more money in a more sophisticated digital recorder. Do I need to use a recording device with an external microphone? Or is there a device that can produce quality recordings using its built in microphone? Oh, and I am especially interested in finding a device that records in stereo. All input would be appreciated. Removing Effects in Goldwave
I would like to remove an effect that was assigned to a sound file using Goldwave. Is there a way to see what effects are assigned to a file and/or a way to remove the effects? I am not referring to the undo feature, but rather how to modify a file when undo is not an option (after the file has been saved). Subject: Re: previewing a deletion with GoldWave Unfortunately, what I suspected is indeed the case. Let's say you want to delete a six-second section beginning at 5 minutes into your sound file. You set the markers, but want to preview to see what the finished product will sound like. If you use the unselected setting for either of the play controls, you will hear all the sound starting at the beginning, then finally skipping your selected six seconds and going on to the end. Not desirable, and a definite limitation of the program as far as I'm concerned. Of course I can work around it but don't like it a lot. RE: Can you help Clean up a very special sound recording
The recording has kind of a hiss. Well, I guess it isn't so much of a hiss, but the recording seems to have vibrations. After giving it some thought, I'm wondering if the song was recorded at a lower quality speed. The individual recording the song is visually impaired and may have accidentally switched the speed. You may know that changing the recording speed on a digital recorder is done in a manner that isn't all that accessible. Sure it can be changed without vision with some extra effort/planning, but my thought is that the menu button was accidentally pressed and the speed was accidentally changed. Not having vision, one might not know that this happened. I will ask someone with vision to check to see what speed was used to record the song. Unfortunately that won't happen for several days. A couple of nice subscribers to this list have offered to try and clean up the recording for me. One gentleman did help by adding a nice touch to the song, but neither of these individuals are too hopeful that the quality can be improved upon. By the way, let me take this opportunity to publicly thank both individuals for taking time to help. This recording is of a song that was written/performed as a tribute for an individual who recently passed away. The song has helped us (especially me) cope with the loss of our friend. I just want to try to get a better recording before I share it with others. As I said, perhaps the speed was altered. If so I will ask that the song be recorded again.
