JAWS Scripts for Cakewalk SONAR LE

2006-08-27 Thread Mark Faben
Hi Everyone,

Just I hope a quick question. Now of course I've heard of the CakeTalking
Scripts for use with JAWS and the more 'professional', and expensive
versions of CAkewalk Sonar, but as an amature (and some would say very
amature) musition, I'm really not wanting nor needing to spend hundreds of
pounds on the all-powerful version of Cakewalk. Even the Sonar LE which I
have has features beyond which I'll ever use. I've been using Sonar LE with
JAWS 7 for a while now, and whilst I can achieve most things, I think that
some of the features are unable to be accessed by JAWS with just the basic
default JAWS scripts. So does anyone know of any scripts that will work with
JAWS 7 under XP pro SP 2 with Sonar LE? Or does anyone have experiance of
configureing JAWS with Sonar LE?

Thanks.

Mark

RE: unusual question

2006-08-08 Thread Mark Faben
Hi!

No you shouldn't need to put it on the net first; Once you've recorded the
tone/ music, and put it into the right format for the phone ring tone (sorry
don't know what it is for that model), then you should have some kind of
cable connection to connect the phone to the PC, and can just transfer the
music file to the phone memeory putting it in the right directory/folder;
should be something like 'sounds', then a subfolder called 'Tones' I
think... hope that helps; I do this a lot on my nokia 6630 from .wav files
of music tracks I rip of CDs and cut down to make short samples that I then
transfer onto the phones memory card or the phone memory itself...

Re: CREATING RING TONES

2006-06-24 Thread Mark Faben

Hi,

I've a nokia 6630 which takes several formats of ring tone, I've made all
the one's I use either myself, or have taken them off the internet. It takes
several differnt formats but I've found the easiest to use, and the easiest
for making my own in, is in Wav format. I use a CD ripping programme, to rip
say a whole song of a music CD, then use something like Goldwave or just
Windows Sound recorder to edit the song down to the short snippet/section I
want for the ring tone. I believe there are programmes out there that would
allow you to convert this to other formats, I know Goldwave will convert it
to a few including MP3, but its just easier to work with the sound in wav
format to begin with, and I think this also helps in reducing loss of sound
quality. The phone I have, the Nokia 6630 will only take the ring tones as
.Wav files if they are in a certain format; fairly low bit rate/sampling
rate, though I wait till I've done all the editing of it before I lower down
the sampling rate/bit rate to what the phone will accept.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Have you checked with your cell phone company to see what format your phone
will except? Some phones except mp3.

Line 6 TonePort UX1/home studeo soundcard advice.

2006-04-07 Thread Mark Faben
Hello all, looking for a little advice as regards getting a better sound
quality, recording ability and general less agrivating experience out of my
home studio!

I’m looking mainly to be recording guitar, with bass, and some
keyboard/synth/drum machine added in, using my oldish PC in my home office
as the studio. I’ve had a lot of problems thus far with the latancy using
‘Guitar tracks Pro’ software, through my very ropy old Soundblaster live!
Card. Because of this, and because when I’ve been able to get it to record
the ‘sound’ of the recording lacks ‘real’ sound (I.E., it really doesn’t
sound like the guitar I’m actually recording!) I’ve been looking at the
best, but within my price range, way of getting a half decent system up and
going.

One of the conclusions I’ve come up with fairly early on, is that doing
something about the soundcard to help lower the latancy and hopefully also
add a bit more quality to the sound, is the way forward.

I’ve looked at a whole bunch of soundcards, finding two in particular which
drew my attention; M-audio Audiophile 24/96, and the E-Mu 0404. but
currently I am most interested in the Line 6 TonePort UX1.
One of the features on this, asides the claimed low latancy and its other
features, is the software it comes with for amp mods and sound effect
processing ETC. However, as I’m sure we’ve all come across in similar
circumstances I’m wondering ‘will this work with JAWS’, for, of course, if
it doesn’t then I need to have a good think about if I’ll be able to use it
at all, as I understand the software also controls where the signals from
the USB card are being passed to.

So, basically anyone any experience of the Line 6 TonePort UX1, or, come to
that the Audiophile 24-96 or E-MU 0404, in particular Using JAWS (I’m
currently on version 7 of JAWS under XP Pro SP2). If not, has anyone any
other suggestions, as regards an alternative soundcard/audio interface, to
help get my home studio up and running properly and getting me some decent
noises at the end of it all. Oh, and I’m in the UK, which as I found out
affects exactly which soundcards etc are available, and my budget, is
ideally under £100, but in reality perhaps a little more than this at a
push; the TonePort UX1 I can get for around £90, and the Audiophile 24/96
and E-Mu 0404 soundcards both come in at around £60 mark.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Mark.
