Its actually smaller than I thought it to be. I imagined it to be a huge complicated looking thing. Well, it is a bit bulky, and it does have a bit of a heft to it, but its small enough to fit here on my desk without getting in the way. At some point in the near future, I'm going to see about joinning the team of djs at Mushroomfm.com, and this is the mike to which I'll be using on air. So while I have the time, I'd like to make some test recordings with this Mike and play them back, so that I can get a feel as to how my voice will sound coming through both headphones as well as my computer speakers. This way, I can hear what my voice will sound like over the air to the listeners, or at least get an idea. I did a test recording with Skype's call testing service using the Yeti, and it sounds quite clear from what I can tell through headphones. I also tried to record my voice using WavePad, but I've found that its not as accessible as I thought. Have any of you ever tried using WavePad? I can load an existing file and play it, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to make recordings. The buttons appear to be inaccessible. For any of you, who have used WavePad before, are there any hotkeys I can use to start and stop a recording? if not, do you know of a sound editor program, that's accessible with a screen reader? I'm using Windows xp home, with Window-eyes. Thanks for any help you can provide me. Mike Rochester, NY. Rich and all- The full version, which is System access Mobile, allows you to install it on two machines and create a U3 brand thumb drive so you can use System Access any where you go. It uses the modifier key which could be the Caps lock, Insert key on the numeric pad, Numlock key on the numeric pad and Scroll lock on the top of the keyboard. Use of any of these keys and the letter F will take you in to the main menu of choices where you can turn on or off magnification, adjust speech settings, and other preferences. This subscription allows you to listen to all of the radio broadcasts via the internet of the upcoming NFL season (depending on the package you purchase). I noticed a couple of changes this season. First, it looks like it's now using an embedded flash based player, which is totally inaccessible. I don't see anything in the browser window at all, but I am able to listen to the broadcast. In years past, you've been able to select WMP or Real, and I've been able to use the Winamp with the WMP stream. This allowed me to control the player and do things like pause the broadcast, lower the volume and so on. None of this seems possible in the new player. Note that you can still navigate through the web pages to find the stream you want to listen to, i.e. the Dolphins broadcast of the Monday night preseason game between the Dolphins and the Jaguars. It's just that once you've selected the appropriate stream, you're now stuck in an inaccessible media player. There also doesn't seem to be the 7 day trial period that there's been in the past. I always took advantage of this 7 day free trial to ensure everything was accessible. This year, I had to take it on faith, and unfortunately I was disappointed. I don't plan on asking for my money back, but I did follow the contact link and opened up a ticket with NFL Field Pass. I'm just letting everyone know my experience and wondering if anyone has gotten around this limitation yet. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list,

Jonathan, so, when you have the new Nano hooked up to your pc, it feeds off the TTS you are running and loads it on to the Nano, or am I way off. They use the technique Rockbox has used for around 5 years, where they use your default system voice on your PC/Mac to create files that live on the nano to announce menus, albums and songs. In terms of iTunes in Windows, iTunes 8 has implemented extensive use of Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA). Because of this, JAWS will be able to work well out of the box with iTunes once we enable MSAA support for iTunes in the next public beta of JAWS 10. I have just been testing this today and am able to use the iTunes Music Store, the Radio feature and many others. Apple have done a good job here. Good question lyn, hard to figure out -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Lynn Schneider Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2008 10:05 PM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: Thoughts and questions on Jango Hi everyone. Oh I just love http://www.Jango.com! However, I do have a few questions I'm hoping someone out there can help me with. The first question concerns controlling the volume. I do see a graphic that Jaws reads as volume handle, but it doesn't appear to do anything. Is there a way I can control the player volume independently of the Windows volume control? This has been a drawback to using many players, as sometimes the music overpowers Jaws. Secondly, I am curious what codec they are using? Is it MP3, Windows media or what? I did look in the FAQ, but it doesn't say. Thirdly, how does it come up with your username? Does it just use the part of your E-mail to the left of the at sign? I wanted to be caneprints, and it did indeed let me have that username. Do any of you have a Jango profile? I'm not really used to social networking and streaming together like this, and of course Pandora was a disappointment, but it seems like a pretty cool concept. It's almost spooky though how quickly it learns the type of music you like. Heck, I have such diverse musical tastes that I never thought any software would be able to make me happy, but I find that I'm skipping fewer and fewer songs now the more I hang out at Jango. RE: mixer and some radio show help?
You can do that, but you need multiple sound cards, one for the music, one for skype, and you bring them in on different channels of the mixer, adjusting their respective volumes and you on the mixer use a microphone either with a quarter inch connection or a XLR connection which is the preferred way. You can locate a mixer which has 4 channels, which would be ideal for your situation, and what show are you listening too and what is yours and where would someone be able to find it Stephen A. Can someone give me a hand on how to use this thing maybe off list or over skype? Thanks I'll start out with a general overview. If you want to know more, write me off-list. Station Playlist is a two-part system--the playlist creation part, and the actual play-out part. You can buy them independently or get a price discount if you buy them both at the same time. Station Playlist Creator builds playlists based on categories (types of music--slow, fast, dance, country, Slovanic bell-ringing, you name it), and spot groups (announcements of any kind) These are put into rotations, and the rotations are used to generate the actual playlist files. There are additional things you can put into a playlist called break notes, which do specific things to Station Playlist Studio when the resultant playlist file is run through it. Station Playlist Creator keeps a database of your musical selections, when it was that they were last put into a playlist, when it was that they were last played, and allows you to tweak these values so you don't get, say, too many Barry Manilow songs clustered together, or you don't get the same song by two different artists played too close together. Station Playlist Studio is the play-out side of the system. It takes playlists created in either Creator or Winamp or your favorite playlist creator software and does exactly what it says--it plays the tracks in the playlist. In addition, it responds to the aforementioned break note codes to make it perform certain functions, possibly at certain times during the hour. Now, you might say, Station Playlist Studio is just a fancy Winamp replacement. In certain respects, that's correct. It does what Winamp does--it plays media files. However, there's a whole control panel behind Studio that lets you add audio compression, control crossfading even better than SQR does, and with a much nicer, single-page interface. Studio also has the capability to load and run playlists based on time of day. Since it's made primarily for use as a play-out system for radio stations, it can play directly from the computer's files, or open the line-in audio on the computer and play something coming over an external audio feed. The operator also has the capability of doing what's called a live-assist program, where Studio plays through the playlist until the operator presses a button that says stop playing. Pressing another button turns on the microphone so the operator can talk. Station Playlist Studio used to be based on Winamp. However, the newest version does away with Winamp for all but one small function of the system, a function which you might never use--the ability to play short audio clips on demand, like you would do if you were running a radio program and wanted some sound-effects drop-ins to appear during your show at the touch of a button. Lots of Internet broadcasters use Studio and Creator together to create their shows. While this is just scratching the surface, it should be enough to get you started toward creating at least one category and one rotation. Also it would contain files for streaming or download. Additionally a section for a forum for comments, and a section for donations by card etc. I'm looking for the following advice: 1. Which programs would allow me to do this - they have to be accessible. (I don't know html programming and would like something simple) 2. Are there packages available from vendors which set this up easily. Any recommendations. 3. Audio wise - for streaming what do I need to know. Is all the streaming done from the site or do I have to use my own machine as a server, making it available for anyone to access. (I would like to have continuous streaming music.) 4. What are the legalities of streaming music over the internet, or containing them within podcast files? (This is for the UK) 5. Can anyone suggest a good quality noise cancelling headset for good recording quality? I've probably not mentioned all I need but if some replies could get me started I would appreciate it. I think someone should finally really confront them hard about this as publicly as possible. Of course, they tend to send people who really don't know much of anything, but, well, they should take our concerns back with them from the conference. Of course, they should hear from more than just one or two troublemakers at the conference concerning issues like this. How about this as a list of issues, which ought to also impact their educational business: * Access to real office productivity suites with VoiceOver? * Compatibility with applications that haven't explicitly been developed for accessibility. * Access to iTunes on Windows. I tried to address these issues last year, but the Apple folks they send don't know how to address them correctly and thus it tends to get side-stepped. Why do Apple users make a thing about how accessible Itunes is? Because quite simply its worth making a thing about, its taken a while but Itunes has turned overnight from something which wasn't all that accessible at all (more near to totally inaccessible) to something which is getting to the point of being near totally accessible so that in itself is worth making a thing about plus the fact that all the hard work and all the correspondence between Apple and Voiceover users finally paid off, we now have a commitment on behalf of Apple that further development will continue etc. On 08/03/2007, at 12:28 AM, Stephen Guerra wrote: It appears that those who are using Macs are giving praise to Apple where I as a Windows user still as most find that Itunes is still lacking. BearShare gets lots of results quickly and connects to the limewire network, I believe that's Nutella, so there are lots of videos and other stuff on there. You'll need a spyware program, AOL Spyware is the one I have, and it works excellent. I've also got Avast running, but these are standard precautions. SoulSeek has some rarer stuff, including music from other cultures, less duplicates and improperly named files. It's fully accessible with scripts, and has some other fun features that let you find new friends. I suppose it starts recording automatically when a skype call starts, you should go to tools menu and activate all boxes, then navigate options in the Options menu voice, always on tools menu. you can set the directory where calls are saved, and if you want to show a memo screen (to take some notes during the call) or not well, let me say, PowerGramo and VoiceEmotion's recording engine are the same and management is really the same then from the File menu you can export the call record to another file, or delete it, and from Replay menu you can manage playback (play/stop/pause) I suppose you have that window because it's empty. well I did never have a recorded call there, so, that's why I cannot assist you directly right now otherwise, as it's not a MSAA window, try to figure it out with Jaws cursor, if you are convinced to have recorded a call well, I suggest you like this: without disturbing some people just to test, try to call, with powergramo activated, the Skype call test, echo123. In addition, and probably the most important, it should be accessible by screen readers, such as JAWS. At present, I have a Creative SoundBlaster, Live, 24 bit external sound card. A bunch of people downloaded and ran the program, and it turned out to be a macro that did a lot of damage to a lot of computers. It wasn't a virus as such, but many people believed it was. It was certainly malicious and I can understand people's concerns about something that sounds a little too good to be true. Hi everyone, I have created an audio sequencer which is operated by audio feedback and shortcuts on your PC keyboard, for example you press N for new file, or press I to insert and audio file. The application allows you to sequence up to 8 wav audio files concurrently. This version is a working prototype and for now it will only allow you to use wav files. The eventual goal is to make a fully functional midi sequencer which will include more format capability such as MP3. Please visit my site, the link is below for more information. I have a help file which explains to application and a list which contains the keyboard shortcuts used in the sequencer on my site aswell. If anyone on the list has any interest in this type of software, i would be very grateful if you could give me your thoughts and opinions on this software, i can start to design my next project taking your opinions on board. Please feel free to pass on my website to anyone else you know who may use it. Cheers.
