Re: backupping cassett tapes

2005-04-20 Thread Teri McElroy
You may need to change the bit rate etc. When you go into soundforge, close
any files which are still open, then open a new file by pressing control n.
Tab around the boxes and look at what settings you've got for bit rate. See if
it's set to 8 or 16. 16 will give a better quality. Also look at whether
you're recording at 11 hrtz or something like that. Try changing to 22.5 which
should be ok for speech. See if that improves the quality. The mono/stereo
box should be ok on mono for a book. Of course, the higher you make these
settings the bigger your recorded file will be.

Teri.

I have sound forge, and adobe audition.

I've tried using sf, and audition, but the sound quality is not there. I
can hear when I am recording from my 4track through my computer, the output
comes out on my speakers. and it sounds great, but the recorded version is
not as good as what I was hearing as it was recording. any ideas? thanks

Hi Juan. I think you might need a program like Soundforge or Goldwave.
These are sound editing programs that are useful for this. Of course, I
think you can use CDex for this. This grabs audio from tapes or CD's, and
puts it on the harddrive for you. I hope this helps.

 Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is well this evening.

I just wanted to ask, I have some sets of 4-track cassetts that I would
like to record onto my computer. I have a 4-track tape player, and a
patch cable. Now, what software and steps do I need to do to record these
cassetts as clear as possible? thanks to e veryone.

No microphone, I'm afraid. I use a higher-quality desktop microphone for
recording purposes.

re: wireless headphones info

2005-04-07 Thread teri mcelroy
Hi

I have phillips wireless FM headphones and have used them with my computer.
The antenna is built into the headphones. The base unit also has an aerial in
it and some sockets. One is for the power adapter, the other is the charging
cable which plugs from the base unit into the headphones to charge the aaa
batteries in the headphones. The third socket is for the cable to go from the
sound source to the base unit of the headphones. I've had this working well
when plugged into the sound card of my computer. I normally have speakers
plugged into the sound card, and my speakers have a headphone jack built into
them. To keep things simple I just plug the phones into the speaker headphone
jack rather than unplugging the speakers from the sound card and having to plug
in the base unit of the hones all the time. Of course other versions of
wireless headphones may have different design. Mine are FM and I can quite
quite a distance away from the base unit and get a reasonable si
 gnal.

Hi:
I am thinking of experimenting with wireless headphones. Logitech if I can
find them

Does anybody have anypositive or negative thoughts on this type of head phone.
I assume an antenna will plug into the sound card and perhaps software will
come with it.
Any info appreciated.

goldwave

2005-01-29 Thread Teri McElroy
Hi

Is anybody using goldwave version 5 with win 98se? When I went to the website
the installation notes I have pasted below led me to believe I couldn't use
version 5. So I downloaded 4.26 as directed and had the problem with the
computer locking when giving the message deflashing to disk and after reaching
99 percent.

Installation Notes
Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP is required for version 5. Windows
NT/95/98
are
not
supported and will not work (please download
v4.26
 instead).

goldwave

2005-01-26 Thread Teri McElroy
Hi
I've joined the list again after a long time away.
I've been trying to load files in to goldwave to convert to another format.
When
the file opens I get the message deflashing to disk. When it gets to 99
percent,
my computer locks up and I can't do anything. I've got about 14 gigs on my hard
drive and the files I'm working with are less than a megabyte in length. I'm
running
win 98se gw version 4.26 and wineyes 4.5
Any suggestions what to do please?

Hi

Can anyone recommend any accessible software which will work with a
ledtech tv tuner card? Their software which is provided with the card
is not accessible at all, so I can't add fm radio stations or adjust any
other settings.

If there is nothing which will work with ledtech, then are there other
reliable tv tuner cards which come with accessible software?
