So on Monday I went and picked it up. It is terrific. I am really glad that I kept looking, and that I sent the Sony back. I don't have the bleed in with my NPR station like I did with that Sony, and I am very happy about this. Also, for the last three nights, I've listened to WSM an AM station out of Tennessee. This station is the home of the Grand Ole Opry. I've never been able to pick up this station before, so this is just cool! I haven't really gotten around to messing with the tape deck, or CD player yet. But I have no doubt that I will like them. I did test the tape deck while looking at the display model. The price on the Aiwa website is less than what I paid, but I don't mind. I think the price was definitely worth it. Here is the model number for anyone who's interested. CSD-DX51 This thing sounds absolutely wonderful. There are still some buttons that I haven't figured out. And it took me a day or two to get used to where things were. But now it's not as confusing to me. However, one thing I don't understand, is why I seem to have four buttons for going threw the radio stations. If I'm using the two on the right, and I lock on a channel, but then switch using the left buttons, I'll end up back on the last station. If I go back to using the right two buttons. I was wondering if maybe there are two FM bands, but I wasn't sure if that was possible. And the info you get from the Aiwa website, doesn't say anything about that. Well, everyone have a happy Thanksgiving. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2004 3:32 PM Subject: Re: creative nomad jukebox 3 mp3 player Hi George. Can't give those details for this particular model but I expect with regards to the shuffle question it will be the same as that for my own player the jukebox 2. Basically, you connect the player to your computer using the USB connection and then use the notmad explorer software to access the audio tracks. This is a folder on the MP3 player that contains all of your MP3, WAV WMA files. You can then either use control + A to select all tracks or highlight a single track. You then press the applications key which will bring up a context menu. Arrowing down the list will give you options such as play, play on your computer and add to playlist. You add the track or tracks to the playlist. You have the option to add to an existing playlist or to create a new playlist of your own naming. When you have added all of the tracks that you want in your playlist, you then press backspace to take you up a level which takes you out of the audio tracks folder and puts you in the main area. Pressing the letter P will take you to playlists and pressing enter will open this folder. You can then arrow up and down the list of playlists until you find the playlist you're interested in. When it's highlighted, press the applications key again and a context menu will open. Simply arrow down to shuffle and press enter. You now have a random playlist. Generally, I only have one playlist that I've called unimaginatively All. At present, there's only 355 tracks in there but I've had nearly 2,000 tracks in a playlist previously. The jukebox 2 is a 10GB player and can hold approximately 2,500 MP3 files encoded at 128kbps or 5,000 WMA files. Regards. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2004 11:14 AM Subject: Re: WinMx Paul and Kristen, First of all, Winmx works pretty well even without scripts, though I do appreciate the added functionality of the scripts. One tip if you decide to try without the scripts is that you might consider the verbosity option of turning on foreground colors so that you can tell the state of your uploads and downloads. In other words, if a particular file is identified with cyan, it means the file has been successfully/completely downloaded, green means it is still in progress, red means it has stopped and is incomplete etc. Hope this helps. Paul, I'm using JAWS 4.02 and Windows 98. For the most part I can use the PC cursor except to enter on a download link or a context item within the transfers window. I'm not sure how much this varies from system to system or with OS or screenreader and version, but I am quite used to it and have not found it to be a problem beyond the initial adjustment of learning the program. I guess it depends on how comfortable folks are with the JAWS cursor in general--in this instance I would not say the program is inaccessible for that reason. While the program mostly works well and does what I want it to, there are one or two problems with it which I would like to sort out if possible. If I have been using the program and then close it down, I cannot re-open the program without re-booting my PC. If I try to do so, I don't receive an error message, but the program just doesn't load. Also, after I've used the program and want to shut down my PC, I am asked to close down two programs - INCD_GUI_FRAMEWORK and Nero.exe. It seems as if Nero Express is not shutting down properly and I wonder whether anyone else has experienced this problem and knows of a solution. I have looked on the nero.com web site for an update, but there only seems to be an update for the full version of Nero and not for Nero Express. If anyone has any suggestions, please pass them on. He has a car sterio that can play that type of cd. Some sterios play them, others do not. Many of the portable cd players play mp3 cd's as well as standard cd's. Rusty Hi, everybody. I like making compilation CD's of songs from various artists and average about 16 to 17 songs per Audio CD. I also prefer dot wav files, as they don't sound canned like MP3 files. I have a program that will easily do this for Windows Media files, but I don't want to keep converting the file type back and forth. Could Goldwave do the job? I suspect so, but thus far I've only managed to get it to trim the excess sound off of the beginning and end of the one large wave file. I don't mind purchasing shareware to complete my task as long as it's within reason. Also, I would prefer to do the job by marking the file at the points where I want to split it. I've tried programs that split files automatically and have been less than impressed with results. Can anyone suggest the best method of doing what I need to do here? My thanks for the expertise.
