Hi Nolan, What version of Nero do you suggest that would be user friendly
with Jaws. I had Nero 5.5 but since I got a new computer with Window's XP
 I
can't get that version to work any more. Thanks.

I'd like to find a version that has the CD copy feature on it if that is
 possible.

Yes, Bruce, I agree that it's over priced and way under ventured. I went
 so
far as to buy it, but I'm back to Nero with no complaints. I thought
 maybe
the so-called accessibility features would make it worth the bucks, but I
can get Nero to speak just as easily with the use of good user windows
 and
 hyperactive windows.

The program also doesn't appear to import cue sheets, and while it can
output an OGG Vorbis file, it can't use it for input. It allows for no
input from lossless-compression files like FLAC. I wanted to give the
program another chance so I installed the demo again, but still feel, in
fact more than ever, that the program is hugely overpriced and
 underfeatured.

 Hi,

 I
use Premier CD Creator 2. Once it opens, you have several buttons from
which to choose, including create an audio CD. After you've selected
 that
button, you have some additional options:

You do an F8 to add files; Control+F8 to delete them. Control+D
moves a file down in your list; Control+U moves it up. F6 starts the
 actual
writing process. If you open the file menu, these options are spelled
 out
 for you.

There doesn't seem to be any way to copy a CD. If this is the 15th
 reply
you got to this question, my apologies to you and the list. I normally
 look
at everything else that came in to see whether someone else already
 handled
this; I just got all excited about firing off a reply because, for once,
this was something I actually knew something about! And I thought

It sounds like you're almost asking for voice recognition. Now, if the
book were being done in DAISY, all of this would be available to you. But
the feature you wanted regarding continuing where you left off is
available in Winamp if you are a JAWS user. Otherwise, I'd recommend a
portable MP3 player with resume capability.

Re: Winamp question

I'm not talking so much about voice recognition, just word recognition like
in a word document searching for the word counseling for example. I'll try

Yes, but you can't enter a word to search for in an audio file without
some pretty elaborate voice recognition. And the nice thing about a time
marker is you can have a hundred files and don't need to memorize a
hundred time positions to jump to. Winamp should really implement this.

Re: nero question about folders?

2005-11-27 Thread julie dawson
What I do is I enter Nero and tab past multi-session (set to none) and new
to the listview and downarrow to audio cd and press enter. Then I type alt-v
and f and browse for the folder you have already compiled. Once the folder
is open and the tracks are there, control-A for select all, control-1 to add
the tracks to the compilation cd and type alt-f and w and tab until it says
write and hit spacebar or enter. In the tab choices you will find choices as
to how many copies, if you want to cd to be finalized with no additional
writing to it )which I have checked), etc. Hope this helps.

About 6 months ago I experienced a problem with CDEX 1.51. The problem
seemed to be related to the data base and listing selections to be
 recorded etc.
I was fortunate to get a few knowledgeable folks racking their brains re a
 solution--none was found.
In the end, the easiest thing was to remove CDEX--add/remove--control
panel and I also removed the CDEX directory--if there was still one
remaining, I can't remember but at any rate I removed all traces of CDEX
from my system and installed the version I am currently using--1.6.
A complete reinstall took about 15 minutes and in my case fortunately
completely resolved the problem I had been having.
I wish I had simply done this in the first place.
NOTE: Do those MP3 files play using any other format such as WMA or Real
 Audio--just to name 2 possibilities?
If a reinstall doesn't work then obviously, it is time to call in the
 techie.

 Hi folks,

Ok, this is really strange. I was using CDex 1.60 successfully until ... I
restarted my Windows XP Home computer. Now, each time I try and start the
program, I get the message telling me that it has found a problem, and
 needs
 to close.

I could post the entire error report here, but it seems to have an
encyclopedia of information, with exception codes and other numbers. LOL!

And, the saga continues. I thought it might be some kind of oddity with
 this
version of CDex, so I installed the last stable version, which was I think
1.51. It seemed to be working fine until I checked my MP3 files, and found
 that they were completely silent.

In both versions of CDex. I was using something called the native NT SCSI
Library, and this worked with v1.60 until it somehow broke.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the heck is going on here?

 Thanks.

 ~Ann

Re: need help with nero settings

2005-11-17 Thread julie dawson
I'll try this. I've never fount the artist when I browse. When I find the
folder and open it, I only seem to tab once to get to the list of track
titles. Then I would right click on the title and context key and then would
I downarrow or tab to get to 0 gap? I have Nero version 5.5 I think. Thank
you.press the context key

 Hi Julie,

Once you are in the place where you pick a song to add, the
place where you press control 1 to add that song, if you tab once,
you are where the name of the compilation is, tab again to get to the
artist, and finally, tab again to get to the list of songs that are
actually in the compilation. That's where, as you down arrow through
the list, you press the application key, next to the right control
key, or, alternatively, shift f10. Hope this clarifies it for
you. If it doesn't, let me know. Even if it does, let me know too.

Hi Rusty, I'm having a confused/clueless moment. Could you tell me exactly
from where in the process you would access this menu? What I do is I am
not
using the wizzard. I select no multi-session and tab past new to the
listview and downarrow to audio cd and hit enter. Then I type alt-v and f
which brings me to where I browse for the compilation folder of tracks
I've
created. I then tab to where the individual songs are. Is this where I
would
right click on each track (except for the first one) and select the 0 gap?
Thank you.

  Hi,

No, not before you do the control 1. That adds the file to
the compilation. You'll need to tab over to the compilation that you

Randy, there are quite a few programs, with which one can do that in
real time. However I only know of one, with which this can be done much
faster. It's called Riverpast Audio Converter and one can download a
 shareware version from www.riverpast.com.

 Julie,

This strikes me as all the more reason to switch from Nero to Easy CD-DA
Extractor. I've never used Nero. But, from all that I've read, it sounds
 as
if Easy's user interface is far more convenient and JAWS-friendly, and
 more
than adequate for most people's needs. And, you get ripping, burning, and
format converting, all together, in one easy-to-use interface, for only a
single, one-time, relatively modest registration fee.

Re: m4a files

2005-10-24 Thread julie dawson
For myself and I will state that I'm new at burning cds, I've found nero 5.5
more stable than easy cd and finding where your levels of files are is
easier. In easy cd it is under numbers and it's harder to navigate for me.
Does the easy cd extracter cost a great deal and could it be used
independently of easy cd creater if I wanted to use Nero?
