program to convert m4b files to mp3 and split into chapters
Hello list. I’m looking for a good accessible program to convert a audio book that’s in .m4b format into mp3 and split the file into chapters automatically if possible; please let me know what is accessible with most screen reading programs; I heard Audacity can do this but one must look at the timing of when chapters start and end; I’m looking for a usable program that’ll find any chapter markers and do the splitting automatically. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. Sincerely, Peter Russillo

Re: New Telstra Corded Phone, Dreadful Thing
Hi Dane, try looking for the Geemarc BDP400; it's a corded phone that talks all its functions; I don't know if you're looking for something good for a business or home office so this is my two cents worth. At the time the phone cost $300 I think it was and was an executive model, offering everything in a corded phone that a user of a desktop phone could want, excellent hands free, 300 number phone book which was easy to scroll through - just scroll to the number you wanted, pick up the phone and the selected number would be called, some speed dial keys, music on hold, socket for a headset and so on, a pricy phone for the time but when I compare it to the Telstra rubbish I now have? Well the Telstra phone is just that, absolute rubbish. I’m going to have a look on eBay to see if there are sellers up there offering anything better, I doubt I’ll get what I had in the Panasonic but one never knows when it comes to eBay, I’ll keep you all posted. ** Those of a positive and enquiring frame of mind will leave the rest of the halfwits in this world behind. -- ** Those who need help are those who are prepared to help themselves
Re: toshiba sound
Hi Marvin, before uninstalling anything try some USB speakers; Logitech makes good ones; they're powered by the USB port; you can get pretty good sound from those; again don't go uninstalling drivers without trying some external speakers first; hth Peter -Original Message- From: Marvin Hunkin Sent: Friday, December 26, 2014 6:49 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: toshiba sound Hi. Well I have a Toshiba satellite pro c 50 -a. When I listen on the speakers, sound crappy and very tinny. No stereo mix, in the sounds, no dts. Using the intel us audio drivers. So what happens if I uninstall the enahanced Toshiba audio driver. Will that improve. On headphones, it is okay, sound could be better. any suggestions, or any resources, or point me to any links. Re: dvd ripping dvd audio ripping software/
Hi, try DVD Audio Extractor; just Google it and you'll find it. It's shareware so you pay about $30 or thereabouts, but after that all updates are free; I use it; it's about as accessible as things get; I'm sure there are other options but others can fill you in on those, but for my money DVD Audio extractor is The One hands down. Re: Youtube to mp3 Converter for Longer Videos?
Hi Evan, try DVD Video Soft; just Google it; I use their YouTube to MP3 converter; it's free, and it's worked fine for me. After installing the program go to Options and make sure the box to download album art is unchecked; make sure to select a good quality audio that's stereo; under Advanced in the dialog, check the box that makes the program compatible with screen reading software, and make sure Play sound when download finishes is checked. I’d like to convert a 55 minute video to audio so I can download it. Thanks much. Evan
Re: Converting YouTube to MP3
Hi Peter and list. Here's a software I use to make the audio of YouTube videos into mp3s. It's available free at www.dvdvideosoft.com This site has several pieces of software to download; I use the Free YouTube to MP3 Converter; it's pretty accessible; after installing it, go to Options and make sure to uncheck the box that says download album art; you don't need those; also check the box under Advanced to make the program compatible with your screen reader. I use the software with System Access and have found it easy to use; thanks. Re: DVD Ripping Software Info Wanted
Hi Tom, Peter here. I think DVD Audio Extractor will let you see video as well, just open the program, put in the DVD and tab to the Play button; I've read that that way sighted people will be able to watch, but if you google it and read the info it'll tell you if that is correct; thanks.
