My guess is that it's a scaled-down version of the 16-gigabyte Nano from last year. On Wed, 11 Mar 2009 16:01:19 -0500, you wrote: It sounds like a nice little player. Re: Apple Releases New Ipod
Thanks so much Christopher, needn't worry I'm going yampy! I always look forward to your posts here. Haven't much time to add to what you've already said about Apple, but for me at least it is a very mixed message I get when it comes to accessability from them. It would be unfair to single out Apple in this field, after all there are so many who don't come up to scratch on this issue, but the Quicktime Player seems an example of, shall we say, 'blindess' when it comes to our needs! This from someone who might buy an IMac in the future - and commit the herresy of putting Windows on it as well! So before anyone starts on a rant about anti-Apple stances and my ignorance, you'd better think before you write! Ray. Yeah, but the fact that an actual popular company is doing this, without us having to instal alternate firmware - that's a step in the right direction. Interesting point actually unless the ear buds plug into the controls themselves, I've seen this sort of arrangement with minidisc walkmans and so forth, I'm sure their would have to be a way round this for obvious reasonsJoy Tilton wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I got the picture that most of the controls are on the ear buds that come with this device. Re: Apple Releases New Ipod
Well, from reading http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/voiceover.html, it sounds like this works the same as the iPod Nano , so there isn't a TTS running on the Shuffle. The TTS is run on your PC and then iTunes copies audio clips over to the Shuffle. Since it's the same technology used on the Nano, you wonder how they can claim VoiceOver is the exciting new feature that makes iPod shuffle the first music player that talks to you. Don't forget, Rockbox has also been using this same technique for years. Although Apple's work on making their products accessible should be praised and encouraged, I'm not smitten with them yet. One wonders why it took Apple so long to add speech to their iPod's, why the whole line doesn't have this feature and why they didn't include accessibility in the iPhone from the get go.
