Anders: The M-Audio or Delta Audio Phile 2496 from Chirping Bat .Com
 is $180.00
plus $30.00 shipping and insurance to Sweden. Right now that is a total
of
 1,491.13 SEK, Sweden Kronor.
I imagine that there would be duty and VAT due upon delivery but I
have
no way of guaranteeing what that might be.
It's probably sold in Sweden. Check musical instrument stores. I'm
happy to send one to you.

Re: Delta soundcard question

2004-10-26 Thread Tim Crawford
Many thanks Brian, Jerry and Matthew. Your responses were much appreciated.
Following on from Matthew's comments, would it be possible to set the card's
parameters to record at 16 bit, 44.1khz for subsecquent transfer to cd?
Or would a recording made at 24 bit, 96khz simply loose the extra quality
when burnt to the cd format. In other words, would some sort of convertion
be neccessary?

Many thanks,
Tim, Bangor, N. Ireland

Hello, cd quality sound is 16 bit, and 44100 samples. If you're recording
in
24 bit at 96 khz, the higher end audio will not be accepted by the lower
cd-quality. Therefore, in order to retain the 24/96 parameters, you may
have
to use DVD audio. I'm not exactly sure about this, but there are detailed
instructions and tips if you search on google for the FAQ on taping with
laptops. A sound card with cd-quality sound will do fine, but I have no
experience with recording digitally. I just plug a cord into the sound
card
with my source material coming into the line in port on the sound card
from
the cord.
Thanks a lot.

Hello Tim,
These things are normally handled by your recording program.
But some of the cards comes with applications for such ajustments, too.
I don't know, if forinstance sound forge overrules the setting of the card.

Delta soundcard question

2004-10-25 Thread Tim Crawford
Hi!
I'm looking to purchase a new soundcard which will enable me make high
quality recordings from an external source, say a digital sattelite receiver
directly on to the hard drive of my computer. I also want to connect the PC
to my hi-fi system, so would require a card which will deliver high quality
output.
Going on there excellent reputation, I've been looking at the Delta range
from M-audio, in particular the Audiophile 2496.
Would this card satisfy my requirements in both respects? or would any of
the others in the Delta range be a better alternative.
Would be most grateful for any opinions, as I'm fairly new to sound
recording.
Thanks,
Tim, Bangor, N. Ireland

Re: Delta soundcard question

2004-10-25 Thread Brian Olesen
Hi Tim,
The delta cards from M-audio are all really really good semi professionel
cards. Maybe I'd buy a delta66 just to get the fine breakout box, where you
can connect and disconnect your cables easily via the very solid plugs it
has. But you'll also find the audiofile being a wonderful card. But I hate
creeping around on the floor switching cables all the time. grin.
