Hi Tom.
Jut to let you know High Criteria do a discount where you can upgrade to
at least the next edition at a discount rather than paying the full
price. So I think from Standard to Professional it's $18. Same is true
for Professional to VideoPro.

Hope this helps.

No. Total Recorder Standard Edition does not offer the ability to
background record internet streams.

Hi Tom.
Yes this is possible. In the Professional Edition of Total Recorder
you can do something called Background Recording. What this does is
records internet streams in the background, silently. As a result none
of your sound will be picked up, including JAWS. The recording will
sound as if you were playing the stream live. A cool feature and just
one reason to spend the $38 or something like that.
Hope this helps.

Hi.
This is correct, except most of us will not be using the user mode
virtual driver, which is the only driver that will allow exclusions of
applications to record sound output. Most of us will be using either the
Kernel Mode virtual driver and/or the Kernel Mode filter driver (highly
recommended).

Re: Is this possible with Goldwave?

2009-02-06 Thread Larry Higgins
OK Gary, this is the way I did it. I simply selected all of the files
I wished to merge from the folder in Windows Explorer, then copied
all of them to the clipboard, then move focus to the Goldwave Merge
dialog box, and paste them all into that box. I would think that
would take care of the problem, meaning, that my selected files would
be placed in the proper order. However, that blasted last file in the
bunch still insists on being the first in the list.

I did find a rather clunky way of dealing with this problem though. I
simply opened up the completed product file in Total Recorder, and
cut the material from the last cd at the beginning, and placed it at
the end of the file, making things right, but I really shouldn't have
to go to all that trouble. I guess I can at least be thankful that at
least I have that option.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Larry

Hi listers,
I just downloaded a couple of audio books, and unfortunately, the
person who converted these books didn't convert the files into a
single file for each cd, but left all the tracks converted as
individual tracks. All I want to do is to take these files, and
place them in their proper order, and making one mp3 file for each cd.
As of a few minutes ago, I took a look at the batch processing
options in Goldwave, but can find no one step way to select all
these files, and consolidate all these mp3 files into one file.
Is there a way to do this, or must I copy each file, one after
the other, adding them to the last mp3 file created in a manual
fashion. Surely there has to be an easier way to do this. If some
one can instruct me in the best way to go about what it is I am
trying to do, I would really appreciate the help.
The reason I would like to accomplish this particular task, is to
make it easier to listen to these files on my Victor Stream,
rather than the Victor classic, because fast forwarding, and
rewind are so much better on the stream.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Larry

Re: Is this possible with Goldwave?

2009-02-06 Thread Larry Higgins
Hey Dennis, thanks for your answer. As I said in a later post, I
managed to remember the file Merge option just after posting my
question to the list. Actually, to be accurate, I was reading the
changes page on the Goldwave site for v5.25, to which I immediately
downloaded and upgraded and heard the term "File Merge" and it hit me
. As I said, I don't use the program a whole lot, so I tend to get
a little rusty with the recall.

Now, could you tell me if it is possible to keep the Merge from
placing the last file in the merge cue at the top of the order? One
would think that the fine people at Goldwave would have tackled that
little quirk long before now.

Subject: Is this possible with Goldwave?

Hi listers,
I just downloaded a couple of audio books, and unfortunately, the
person who converted these books didn't convert the files into a
single file for each cd, but left all the tracks converted as
individual tracks. All I want to do is to take these files, and
place them in their proper order, and making one mp3 file for each cd.
As of a few minutes ago, I took a look at the batch processing
options in Goldwave, but can find no one step way to select all
these files, and consolidate all these mp3 files into one file. Is
there a way to do this, or must I copy each file, one after the
other, adding them to the last mp3 file created in a manual
fashion. Surely there has to be an easier way to do this. If some
one can instruct me in the best way to go about what it is I am
trying to do, I would really appreciate the help.
The reason I would like to accomplish this particular task, is to
make it easier to listen to these files on my Victor Stream, rather
than the Victor classic, because fast forwarding, and rewind are so
much better on the stream.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Larry

RE: Is this possible with Goldwave?

2009-02-06 Thread dean martineau
I would use the command line to achieve what you want. For simplicity,
perhaps put the files into the root folder of drive c:, or some other easy p
lace you can find. The easiest scenario would be if you wanted all the files
from the book to end up in one file. So if the book is called my multifile
book, with each chapter being a file with a name based on that name, Go to
the run dialog and type cmd. You then have to navigate to the folder where
the files are. In my example, type cd \ to get to the root of drive c:.
Now type this, paying attention to punctuation:

Copy /b "my multifile*.*" thebook/mp3

Press enter. To close the command line, type the word exit and hit enter.
You should now have a file called thebook.mp3 in the root folder of your c:
drive.

Hi. If you open Gold Wave and then press ALT and arrow right (or left)
until you find Tools and then arrow down, you will find file merge. Open
this and follow the prompts and this will do what I think you wish. Walter.

Howdy Jerry?? Your response to my inquiry picks my interest. Ok, where can
I get a demo copy of Naturally Speaking to play with?? How much does it
cost??
And, if I CONVERT THE MP3 AUDIO to Plain Text, can I edit the text??
Here's my dilemma and I hope this sheds some more light on what I am trying
to accomplish; the pastor of a church where I serve as one of the audio
tekkies wants me to TRANSCRIBE each Sunday's recorded messages; he wants to
MAKE BOOKLETS of his messages. Because of work commitments and other
related activities, I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME to listen to each tape and then
type out what I hear; besides, he makes so many GRAMMATICAL ERRORS that I
don't want to deal with if I can avoid it. So, I am planning on recording
the taped messages to my computer using either GoldWave or SoundForge in MP3
format; the recording will then RECONVERTED to Plain Text and edited. I
feel this would make the work go a little faster.
Do you surmise that Naturally Speaking will make this a snap??
If so, I'd like to play with a demo. Mega thanks and I am still open to
recommendations!!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
