RE: MP3 versus WMA

2005-12-26 Thread Allison and Chip Orange
Absolutely no question on one aspect of your question: the support for the MP3
format is *vastly* better than that for WMA. The entire Ipod line is a great
example of a line of players that *does not* support WMA.

 Subject: MP3 versus WMA

 Hi folks,
what is the consensus on the WMA format for music files? I have
music encoded in 320 bits MP3 and 192 WMA formats and to be honest
the difference in quality is barely noticeable. I suppose after
quality what matters most is the compatibility factor. Have you guys
found there to be equal support for the two formats in hardware media
players such as juke-boxes and mp3 players?

Any other information, personal observation or opinion on the subject
 would be appreciated.

 Thanks,
 John

WMA files are supposed to be half the size of MP3's, but the quality of WMA
files is supposed to be as good as MP3's!
