RE: stereo mix question for a friend
You may want to tell your friend to consider the virtual audio cable program. This seemed to work well for me when I tried it out. It does cost money, but you can try it first. The only problem with the trial is every few seconds, a female voice can be heard saying Trial. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Michael Amaro Sent: Tuesday, July 14, 2015 3:08 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: stereo mix question for a friend Hello Listers, I have a friend, that is running windows 7 64 bit. I'd also be very carefull about doing that. I don't know what will happen if it goes bad. I'd ask some one like Rick Harmon to do that fo me if he'd be so kind if I were you. Hi Michael, I don't really know about not playing all the songs, but there is a setting in Winamp to stop after each song. Regarding not playing the songs in order, there is a shuffle mode which is toggled on and off by pressing the letter s. Re: Question for a friend, installing USB Soundblaster Live Soundcard
Hi Chris, In most cases, the software should be installed before connecting the USB sound card. As far as the defaults, yes, the USB sound card will take over everything as soon as it is plugged in. Once it does, however, any settings may be changed in the Sound control panel and the screen reader can be adjusted to use the other card, etc. Darrell Shandrow - Shandrow Communications! A friend of mine has just bought a new computer and it has an external USB Sound Blaster Live! Sound card with it and he wants to use that one, but he's unsure about what to do first. Should he install the software on the cd that comes with it and then connect it to the USB port, or should he plug it in and install the software after that? Also, we're a bit unsure how things will go with regards to JAWS and software speech. Will the Sound Blaster card take over as the default card automatically, like many of the headphone/Microphone headsets seem to like to do, or will he have to go into Windows and set it as the default? He wants it to be set so that the software speech will be on the onboard sound and all other sounds like music and everything else will be routed to the Soundblaster. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Re: Question for a friend, installing USB Soundblaster Live Soundcard
Hi Dana Actually, it looks like we've got all that sorted, so all that needs to happen is to install the card and we'll be all set. JAWS will come out of the onboard sound card, and the music and everything else will come out of the soundblaster, if all goes as planned this is. At 04:29 PM 6/24/2006, you wrote: Earlier this week, I ordered the same sound card; waiting for it to arrive. I can't be sure, because I haven't done it yet, but, I would think, your friend would do best to install the USB drivers first; that's certainly what I intend to do when I receive mine. I'm not even sure I'll install the software that comes with the card, as, I think, I already have lots of software to do everything it does that I might be interested in. As for making sure that the card doesn't take over as the default device, we've previously discuss on this list how to edit jfw.ini, to force Eloquence to use a particular device as its default. That's what I'd recommend your friend do. Do you need to have those instructions reposted? Blessed Be, Dana that's Dayna, D A N A, NOT Donna, D O N N A D. S. Leslie, née C. R. Re: Live 365 Question For A Friend
I installed the Live 365 player some time ago. What happens when your friend tries to listen to a Live 365 station? Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're dealing with. When I want to listen to a station, I just hit the listen live button and the player comes up and that's it. He tells me Live 365 tells him he can't use any other player. We'd appreciate any help anyone can give. I'll forward any responses. Re: Live 365 Question For A Friend
Hi, so then, does this mean that all the options for the other players like winamp are no longer there, because if that's the case, no more live 365 for me. Sound Forge question for a friend
Hi list, I'm asking this on behalf of a friend, who uses JAWS with Sound Forge in a recording studio environment. He basically says that when he is in the dynamics plugin menu that JAWS does not read at all with Sound Forge versions 5-7, but that this was not a problem in earlier versions. He has used the Jim Snowbarger scripts in the past but found them difficult ... I do not know whether they would correct this problem. We are relatively sure this is a Sound Forge problem as JAWS behaves properly as soon as he exits this control. Does anyone have any suggestions I can forward to him? He is pretty experienced with Sound Forge but i have very little familiarity with it, so probably the more detailed instructions would be better since I am translating, smile. Thanks in advance for any help. Susan ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Question for a friend
Hi Cindy, Peter Russillo here. Does your friend use Jaws or Window-Eyes? Has he checked about the firewall on his network? I'm guessing (thought I'm not on a network) that some things like that may not be getting let into the firewall. Windows Media Player 7 may need to be upgraded to version 9, or even better, have him get Winamp 5.03; also have him (if he hasn't already0 get the free ACB Radio Tuner; that can be set so the player he chooses can open when activating any of the buttons, be it Mainstream, Interactive, Cafe--what have you. Good luck getting this solved. He is on a network, at work. So, I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. But, as I said, he can listen to other stations. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
