Re: Creative Labs Sound Cards

2006-03-31 Thread Steven Hicks
Lovely, thanks for all your help.

Steve.

 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 30 March 2006
Steve, I don't know what the M-audio converters look like. I plan to
buy one
some day from Minidisko. the thing cost $49.00. it actually converts
the
optical signal to SPDIF. I think what your adapter is used for is to
make
the toslink cable compatible with portable minidisk recorders that use

digital optical jacks.

Radio Shack is supposed to have some kind of signal converters to, but
I
don't know what they are exactly!

Do you know what the M-Aduio converters look like? I had one that
came
with the TOSLINK cable which is like a 3.5 headphone jack type
connector
that will go in to the sound card and then the TOSLINK cable will go
in
 to this.

The toslink digital connectors are optical, while the jack on the
 creative
soundcard is spdif which is an electrical stream. I don't see why
one
 of
those M-audio converters wouldn't work. I think that the CO-1 might
do
 it.

Thanks to everyone for all their help.

I found an E-mail contact for Creative Labs who advise that there
is
 a
basic driver with MS-Windows but they say that I cannot connect up
 my
TOSLINK cable to the digital out.

I have a little converter which came with my TOSLINK cable, I think

I believe you should be able to connect the speakers. Are you saying that
you didn't get an instalation cd with the card? XP will only have basic
 drivers for the card.

Sound Cards

thanks for your help.

To be honest, I bought the
card second hand, there was
nothing with it
unfortunately. I need to try
to find the latest drivers on
the WEB most
likely but if there are basic
drivers, that will be find to
get me up
and running.

I do hope that the digital out
is the same as the SPDIFF
socket, that
will be real cool!

Steve.
