Re: High capacity SD cards with Victor Reader Stream
Hi. Yes, formatting a 16 gig card does indeed take a long time. I haven't the very latestfirmware revision installed but I got no progress indication while it was all happening silently. I'm not sure, but he latest firmware might insist you have the power supply plugged in while formatting a card - a good idea. Some debate as to the highest card the Victor Stream is supposed to handle, but on the Stream Uk list it's been reported that someone is using a 32 gig card without problems so far. I'd add that branded cards such as Sandisc or Integral and Kingston are a good bet if you want reliability. Ray. Hi. I'm using a 32 gig SD HC card with no problem. It takes a little time to load large amounts of files, but once that's done things work quite quickly and normally. I can't answer the formatting question, since all the cards I use worked right away. Have a great day, and don't work too hard. Hi, I grabbed a class 6 16GB card and received a No Media class 3 error. I'm hoping the next firmware release will address this issue. Formatting of the card did not take long at all. - Original Message - From: Bradford Trainham bradford.train...@sbcglobal.net To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2009 12:38 AM Subject: High capacity SD cards with Victor Reader Stream Hi, First, what's the highest capacity card the machine supports... RE: High capacity SD cards with Victor Reader Stream
Hi, Not sure of the brand of the card I got as it was a birthday present, but I did get the formatting done, copied about 8.5 gigs of music over and am now experimenting with playback, file organization and such. It may not be the best sound in the world, but it's quite nice to have all your mp3 tag info read and portability is nice too. This is a 16-gig card and the formatting took several hours, but it's certainly working now. That's interesting because a friend of mine said she hasn't ever had to format a card either. I wonder how the proper folder structure gets on those cards if they're never formatted.
