Hi guys,

I have a folder with about 500 songs in it, when I right click it and click
play, it'll crash after playing a random amount of songs.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

2007-11-09 Thread John Sanfilippo
Hi,

I just figure winamp figures its name is winamp video. Long as it
works, so what.

Say, is there a way to stop jaws from announcing the title while
something is playing? It isn't constant, but it's enough to be annoying
when you don't want it. If it were really critical, I'd press insert v,
end, space, enter, and shut jaws off temporarily. But I thought perhaps
there's a setting somewhere I might know about.

Advanced thanks,
Js

If you're using JFW, use alt-v to close the video frame. Alt-v is a
toggle, so if it's closed, it'll open it for you. This is probably how
it started showing up in the first place. Don't forget to use the
different help options with JFW to find these keyboard shortcuts.

hi all, i've recently upgraded from winamp 5.35 to 5.5 and now have a
really irritating problem. before, with 5.35, i could put a cd in the
drive, select play audio cd and it would play the whole cd without a
break. however now, it seems to be checking for a valid entry online via
one of the online databases after each track. if it can't find a match,
 it
stops playing and tells me so and asks if i want to submit a new entry. i
don't mind if this for the first track, but it does it for each
 individual
track and it's bugging me. how can i stop winamp doing this? i want it to
behave like before, where it would just carry on playing whether it had a
match or not. i've looked through preferences and i can't find anything
that would seem to be an obvious solution.

If you want to make Windows media your default,
open WindowsMedia, Alt for file, go to to tools, press inter, arrow up to
options, inter, Ctrl tab 8 time to file types, and tab to select all button,
press space bar, and tab to OK.
Take care,

Thanks, Arthur. Very clear directions. I solved the problem, only thanks to

Hi, Arthur.

This is surely asked and answered, but as a 5.35 user, how do I stop Winamp
from elbowing in and demanding I upgrade to 5.5? Alternatively, how do I
make Windows Media Player my default, as I attempted without success earlier
today?

hi all, i've recently upgraded from winamp 5.35 to 5.5 and now have a really
irritating problem. before, with 5.35, i could put a cd in the drive, select
play audio cd and it would play the whole cd without a break. however now,
it seems to be checking for a valid entry online via one of the online
databases after each track. if it can't find a match, it stops playing and
tells me so and asks if i want to submit a new entry. i don't mind if this
for the first track, but it does it for each individual track and it's
bugging me. how can i stop winamp doing this? i want it to behave like
before, where it would just carry on playing whether it had a match or not.
i've looked through preferences and i can't find anything that would seem to
be an obvious solution. kevin - (lord l) Civilization exists by geological

Re: Winamp 5.5 Build 1640 Problem

2007-10-14 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hey Wes

I have another guy on the Winamp4TheBlind list i run who is
experiencing the exact same problem as you are, almost to the
letter. it sounds to me like the only way to get around this one, as
I said a few days ago on here is to visit, http://forums.winamp.com
and contact the developers or a larger group of folks who can
actually help. The very group of folks who write the program are on
those forums, so asking the question more directly to them will
probably get you some better results. The only thing is, that to
even get your question looked at, you have to do 2 things.
Firstly, you gotta register, and unfortunately you have to get past
that big bad captcha, and there's no audio alternative to that. I
suppose you could always write to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] and see if you get a
response. This sucks because I don't really have a good way to
contact them, and you have to get past the captcha to even register.

Then secondly after you register, you have to give them some specs
about your machine including operating system, audio and video card
and driver versions, version of Winamp and the error message if
any. There may be more in some cases depending on what
happens. They also sometimes require the use of a program called
Hijack This which will create a log of your systems processes and
eliminate any bad stuff in there if there is any. I have absolutely
no idea how screenreader the program is, and that's not on topic for
the list so we won't go any further on that one.
But if you can ask the question on the forums in any case, that'll
probably get you more of a straight up answer. Sorry I don't have
more info, that's really the best I got.

Thanks.

can I delete it? If I DO need it, how do I figure out what the
error actually means and how to fix it? I'm considering doing a
complete uninstall of Winamp and reinstalling, though that did no
good last time.

Also, when submitting the error report, I get the following Runtime error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call

So, my question here is two-fold. First, what does this error
mean? And just like the last one, how do I get rid of it?

Thanks. U want to be able to take full advantage of my Winamp again.

Re: Winamp 5.5 Build 1640 Problem

2007-10-14 Thread Wes Derby
Hey, Chris.

Yep...Already did that about a week ago. DJ Egg, the guy who seems to be
running things, took a look at the error report that came out of all of this
(the problem started with the 5.5 betas and has continued) and seemed
completely stumped as to what's causing this...No one else seems to be
having this problem on the forums, so unfortunately, it leaves me believing
it may be only those of us using screenreaders who are experiencing it.

The only other thing I can think of is to completely erase the program and
do a full reinstall.

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference (and neither did the Winamp
developers), but I'm running Winamp Pro.

Thanks again...I'll give it another shot on the forums and see what happens.
Luckily, I have a sighted wife, and she was able to read me the captcha
code.
