Quick time is from Apple. Since it was taken with an Android phone, chances
are that Windows Media or Winamp will play it just fine. I'd try that first.

I tried that save target thing; no soap! Quicktime just jumps right in!
As for this default program thing: that seems to either not work for me or
I don't understand how I'm supposed to work with it! Meanwhile (at least
for now) I have removed MR. Quicktime! I may reinstall it (once the video
in question has been delivered) but there was yet another archived show I
wanted to download (Quicktime once again intrephered) I had a discussion
with a friend of mine last night who told me that he was afraid it was just
going to cause more trouble with me being able to download things; since I
cannot see a file association thing in Quickttime, I decided that (at
least for now) that Quicktime was gonna have to go! Thanks all for your
suggestions and am willing to listen to more, for my fear is that Quicktime
may be the only player that will work with this video as it was taken with
an Android smart phone!

You can set the default program for any file extension in Windows, this
should take care of your problem, it also depends on the mime type being
sent from the website. You can always do a save target as in the right
click menu on the link instead of just hitting enter as well.

Yes and the other problem is that this is going to be something I would like
to share with my friends; it would seem that the only way to do this is for
them to put Quicktime on their machine; then...they'll have exactly the same
problem! This video will probably be something I'll want to see again! But
it'd be a major pain to (whenever I wanted to watch it) reinstall Quicktime;
then delete it when I'm done!

I took Quick time out of my machine because of that. I did the same thing
you did. I had something I needed to watch. I took it out as soon as I was
done. The problem is that it isn't easy to remove. I forget how I did it now
unfortunately.

Hi Tom, you are having a similar problem I had while trying to play a movie.

the movie had an AVI extension, so I thought winamp would play it, no soap.
it would come up in winamp but wouldn't play. I had to make windows media
player the default player to play the avi file.

the problem is with quicktime, I don't know of a way to change file type
associations. if you can find out how to change the file types in quicktime,

you could disable the association.

Why don't you just change the default programs in windows. I think you are
using windows 7, so go into control and find default settings.

when there, tab over to list view. hit a letter such as windows for

media player and tab to where it says make default program, hit apply,
 then
okay and see if that does what you want.

You can set the default program for any file extension in Windows, this
should take care of your problem, it also depends on the mime type being
sent from the website. You can always do a save target as in the right
click menu on the link instead of just hitting enter as well.

Why don't you just change the default programs in windows. I think you are
using windows 7, so go into control and find default settings.

when there, tab over to list view. hit a letter such as windows for
windows
media player and tab to where it says make default program, hit apply,
then

okay and see if that does what you want.

Hello list: A couple of days ago or so, I posted a question concerning
an

audio podcast I have been trying to download. I recently installed
Quicktime on my machine in anticipation of getting something that uses

Since

I've put Quicktime on here, when I click the link, it immediately opens
Quicktime and starts playing the file; this is _not_ want I want! Is
there
a way around this problem? Must I uninstall Qu9icktime in order to do

RE: Reposting A Question

2014-06-29 Thread Tom Kaufman
Gary: I think I got to the right page you are telling me to go; problem is
that Winamp (that's what II want as my default player) isn't there! I think
in Winamp preferences, I _do_ have it checked to play all file types.
However, when I try to download this particular podcast, Quicktime just
jumps on in there and plays the file; this is not what I want! I want to be
able to ddownload the podcast as I used to! So I need to know what it is I
have to do to accomplish this?

Reposting a question.

2005-10-19 Thread Doug Wakefield
Good List,
I posted a question last night but I didn't see it on the list so assume it
is heading out past jupiter by now.
Here it is again.
I am wondering if anyone has had experience with any high end digital
recorders.
I have a Marantz PMD690 which has been discontinued. It only lasts about
1-1/2 hours on batteries and is difficult to use if you can't read the
display.
I'm looking for a broadcast quality stereo portable recorder that ideally
would not require bulky XLR jacks. Marrantz now has the PMD660 and PMD670
that are stereo and small but I don't want to spend big bucks again with out
knowing more about their accessibility.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

hey doug,

Your message did come in. I don't have any experience with this such
recorder, (none at all.) You may want to try the plextic-1, something along
those lines. I'm not sure if it is what your looking for and if it is even
has been released yet.

best,

Doug,

for a thorough exploration on the world of currently available audio
