Re: Skype/mic help
Hi, Thanks for the help. It seems to be working now (could hear myself when I did the Skype test call). I made Skype point to my sound card like you said (it was set on Windows default device; though in Control Panel the default device was set to my sound card so don't know whether that was the problem). I also undid the changes I made from following the Skype sound set up guide - don't know whether I misunderstood the instructions, but I had muted the mic and unmuted the line in; that was when I started getting the error about make sure you've selected the right device; so now I muted line in and unmuted mic, and turned the mic volume up to the maximum and it works. Maybe the original problem was just the volume not being high enough...I didn't think to try that first! You should be able to choose your sound card from there and have it point to a specific one on your system. you can even have it set so if you get a skype call, you can have the ring sound that happens come from your pc speakers, but the output of skype will go to your USB headphones, because Windows thinks of that USB Mic/headset as another sound device. the other thought is that you may not have your headphones plugged in properly. Make sure they're connected. Yeah I know, that's a pretty obvious one, but you'd be surprised. Never hurts to check everything. At 04:52 PM 3/12/2006, you wrote: Hello, Just subscribed to this list.
