Now that you have a volume control knob for each audio source, you can play 2 CD's or records back to back if you wanted to. And or, you can do something that is called looping. The microphone just lets you talk over the music wile it's playing. This is called a voice over. For microphones, there are two kinds of connections. There is the 1-4th inch connecter, and the XLR connecter. The impedance are different on both of these connecters. The XLR is high impedance, the 1-4th inch is low impedance. There is no real difference in the way these 2 microphones pick up sound. They both work on the same principle. Basically, a mixer lets you mix sound. I hope this info really helps you a whole bunch. Most people have speakers, which is really annoying, but anyway, I say hi, blah blah, but when they speak, i get horrible loopback. Not sure what to do about this). I have a few choices as to soundcards. One desktop has a SiS 7018, this laptop, which I use most of the time, just has a connecsant, and my other desktop has an SB live.. They all have stario mix, and sometime or other I plan on seeing which sounds the best, but what other factors come into play here? ram, processor speed? I'd like to be able to play a song and talk at the same time- I heard you can't do that in winamp?
